Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: The First Monster – The Story of Broken Despair

Scene One: The Monster Appears

Haru walked through the fantasy world, his axe resting on his shoulder.

The violet sky stretched endlessly above him, calm—almost deceptively peaceful.

Suddenly, a deep roar echoed from afar.

The ground beneath his feet shook violently.

The shadows around him began to move on their own, twisting unnaturally.

From the darkness emerged a massive creature.

Its body was a tangled mass of living shadows, like a sentient black storm.

Dim red eyes glowed within it like burning embers, and thick black smoke poured from its mouth, choking the air.

"Who are you?" Haru asked, tightening his grip on the axe.

The monster did not answer immediately.

Then its voice thundered—low, heavy, broken.

"I am… the one no one understood.

I am… the one who lost everything."

Scene Two: The Fierce Battle

The fight began without warning.

The monster extended a massive shadowy arm, stretching like a black whip toward Haru.

Haru focused his thoughts.

"I will be faster."

In an instant, his body felt lighter.

He vanished from where he stood, dodging the attack with impossible speed and leaping high into the air.

"I will fly."

Violet wings of light burst from his back, lifting him skyward.

He descended from above, swinging the axe downward.

The monster blocked with its arm.

"I will grow."

Haru's body expanded instantly, becoming a towering giant.

He slammed the axe down with crushing force, shaking the earth itself.

The monster retaliated, releasing a wave of dark shadows that spiraled into a violent vortex around Haru.

"I will protect myself."

A transparent shield of violet light formed around him, absorbing the attack.

But the monster struck again—harder.

Haru was thrown backward, crashing into the ground.

The battle raged on.

Haru changed size, speed, and weapons with his imagination.

The monster countered with overwhelming shadow power.

The sky filled with violet light and black smoke, chaos tearing through the world.

Scene Three: The Beginning of Understanding

In the middle of the clash, Haru shouted:

"Why are you attacking me?! What made you like this?!"

The monster stopped.

Its red eyes dimmed, filled with sorrow.

Its voice trembled.

"I… was like you.

I was kind.

I helped people."

It paused.

"I lost my little sister in an accident.

No one stood by me.

Everyone said, 'It is fate.'"

The monster's voice cracked.

"I was left alone.

Despair consumed me… and I became this."

Haru froze. His axe trembled in his hands.

"I lost too," Haru said quietly.

"A fire. Scars. Pain."

He clenched his fists.

"But I'm still fighting."

Scene Four: The Emotional Confrontation

The monster lowered its head.

"Why?" it asked weakly.

"Why didn't you give up? Everyone betrayed me. I don't want to live anymore."

Haru descended from the air and stood before it.

"Because pain isn't the end," Haru said firmly.

"Because I found people—even if they are few—who are worth saving."

He looked directly at the monster.

"You deserve help too.

You are not a monster.

You are a human who was broken."

The monster fell silent.

Its eyes flickered.

"No one… ever said that to me."

Haru extended his hand.

"Come. Let me help you. Let me understand you."

The monster hesitated… then slowly reached out with a shadowy arm and touched Haru's hand.

In that moment, its body began to dissolve into soft violet light.

"Thank you… Haru," it whispered.

"At last… someone understood me."

The creature faded peacefully, leaving behind a gentle rain of violet particles.

Scene Five: Tears of Relief

Haru stood alone, axe in hand.

Tears streamed down his face.

Not tears of sorrow—

but tears of relief.

"I saved him," he whispered.

A small smile formed on his lips.

Josika appeared beside him.

"This is only the first step," Josika said calmly.

"There are many like him. Will you continue?"

Haru wiped his tears.

"Yes," he answered.

"I will."

End of Chapter 13

(In the distance, new monstrous roars echoed. Haru knew his journey had only just begun.)
