Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Two Women

Leo remembered very clearly what the woman called Kelly looked like. To be precise, any Dungeon Fighter player would never forget her appearance.

The two large hairpins stuck into her hair from behind, the outfit that resembled a cheongsam, and the lace glove worn on only one arm—all of it pointed to one conclusion.

This person was Kelly.

The other woman, however, was different. Leo couldn't clearly see her face. He only knew she was wearing something similar to a kimono, and after landing, she kept trembling nonstop, looking utterly terrified.

"Such weak mental resilience?"

Even so, Leo had no intention of taking risks. Sitting atop his platform, he took out his gun and quietly recovered his stamina, waiting for them to notice him.

But he underestimated the intuition and sharpness of the woman who appeared to be Kelly. It didn't take long before she looked his way. The moment she noticed the gun in his hands, her aura changed sharply—then relaxed just as quickly. A smile appeared on her face.

She waved at Leo, causing the soft white curves on her chest to sway conspicuously, almost to the point of revealing more than intended.

The moment she spoke, Leo heard that unmistakably familiar accent.

"Yo, handsome. You look like you could use some help. Did you get separated from your companions? And if you don't mind—could you tell me where this place is?"

That confident yet slightly slick tone was unmistakably Kelly's. Leo also noticed the two unusual revolvers hanging at her waist.

If she truly was Kelly from the continent of Arad, Leo was certain that even if he fired first, she could put a bullet through his head in an instant. He took a deep breath, kept the game system's crosshair trained on her head, and answered carefully.

"I don't know where this place is either, but it's extremely dangerous… and yes, I do need help. But how can I trust you?"

Only after speaking did Leo realize how hoarse his voice had become. A wave of dizziness followed, along with nausea.

Severe internal injuries—there was nothing he could do about it.

Kelly sighed helplessly. With Leo in this blood-soaked state, there wasn't much she could do either. She only knew basic battlefield first aid, nothing more.

More importantly, she didn't have any medical supplies. If she had, she wouldn't have been forced to jump into the sea earlier just to try and survive.

"Well… even if you say that, I don't have medicine to treat you. Also, is this Arad? It looks more like Heaven Realm—dead bodies and smoke everywhere. But don't worry. As long as you don't attack me, I won't attack you. I'm Kelly, after all. I wouldn't do something like that."

She pointed at herself with her thumb, then sighed again.

At that moment, the other woman finally spoke. Holding her abdomen and breathing deeply, she forced herself to speak.

"I'm a medic. Treat his external wounds first… I can heal him."

The blonde woman tossed over a bundle of gauze and bandages, then clutched her chest and collapsed to her knees, breathing heavily.

This was when Leo finally saw her clearly.

She was very beautiful—her chest was even more impressive than Erina's. Like Kelly, her outfit was cut dangerously low, the kind that looked like it might reveal everything with just a little movement.

But no matter how Leo tried, he couldn't recall any doctor character who looked this sickly.

From her condition, she wasn't much better off than he was.

"All right. Just don't shoot, okay? Once we treat you, you'll tell us everything you know, right? I'll go find something to use as a ladder."

Kelly waved and started looking around for materials, but Leo shook his head.

"No need. I'll come down myself…"

He coughed heavily and forced himself upright, stepping onto the wooden blocks he had built earlier. Most of them were already damaged, forcing him to choose a more exhausting method—

Building a spiral staircase down the pillar.

Wooden blocks appeared one after another in his hands, assembling themselves midair around the pillar. Below, Kelly stared in shock.

In her eyes, Leo simply reached out—and a large block of wood appeared beneath his feet, forming a step out of thin air.

"My god… are you a mage?"

Kelly carefully watched him descend, ready to catch him if he fell, while asking in disbelief.

Leo could only wave his hand weakly while coughing—he truly didn't have the strength to talk.

Step by step, he descended. Every movement brought him closer to collapse. By the time he was nearly at the ground, his strength gave out completely, and he toppled forward.

The ground rushed toward him—

Then suddenly, softness.

His face sank into something incredibly soft and warm, accompanied by the scent of smoke mixed with a faint feminine fragrance.

Leo froze, realizing he had been caught by Kelly. Only then did he fully let his guard down.

Leaning heavily against her, he was helped onto a relatively clean, flat stretch of asphalt, where he could lie down.

What puzzled both of them was that the blonde doctor was still trembling in place, unable to move.

Leo glanced at Kelly and tried lifting his arm—no response. Even raising his head made him dizzy.

Delaying any longer was dangerous. He summoned his scrap machine gun and ammo and pointed toward the back of the gas station.

"There are guns and ammo here. There's also a pond and tools to boil water—but be careful. This world has many zombies. Only headshots can kill them."

As soon as he finished speaking, dizziness overwhelmed him again. His vision went dark, and he passed out.

Kelly scratched her head, staring at the unconscious Leo and the suddenly appearing gun and ammunition. She looked toward the trembling doctor.

She had wanted to ask why the doctor hadn't started treatment yet—but seeing the woman barely holding herself together, she understood.

"Fear of blood?"

Without another word, Kelly picked up the machine gun, gathered the scattered ammo, and headed behind the gas station.

Fortunately, the pond there hadn't been affected. Though it was covered in ash, there was no time to be picky. After filtering the water through her clothes, Kelly returned with a bucket, wiped Leo's face clean, then tore open his clothes to inspect his injuries.

"This guy really is lucky…"

Cuts, bruises, misaligned bones—one inch more and a bone would have pierced his lung. Survival would've been impossible.

Truthfully, this man shouldn't have lasted long enough for them to arrive.

After wiping away most of the blood, Kelly turned to the trembling doctor.

"I've done what I can. Can you heal him or not?"

The blonde woman hesitated, then spoke with closed eyes.

"I'll… try. Hold my hand and place it on his chest. I can heal him."

Though doubtful how someone could heal without looking, Kelly complied—especially after witnessing Leo's bizarre abilities.

Guided by Kelly, the blonde woman knelt beside Leo. Every time her hand touched blood, it trembled violently.

Then—

A miracle.

Green light burst from her palm. As it flowed into Leo's body, his wounds visibly healed, and his breathing gradually stabilized.

But the cost was clear. Sweat poured down her forehead, her body shaking violently as if she might collapse at any moment.

"My chakra… why is it so low?!"

She spoke weakly. As she healed Leo, her strength was draining rapidly—something that should have been impossible.

The moment Leo regained consciousness, the woman collapsed forward.

Leo barely had time to glimpse the sun before his face was buried once more in a soft, white mass. His breath was cut off, his brain deprived of oxygen—

And darkness claimed him again.
