Chapter 29 - Enormous Changes In Status

After Meihui entered the hut, Ye Jun decided to go through his morning routine. It had become a habit for him, which kept his mind stable and healthy.

Once it was done, he sat to the side and muttered, "Status."

He hadn't even looked at it for a while, and now he was curious to see the changes after he had spent hours in the wilderness, slaying Spiritual Beasts.

Newfound strength was coursing through his veins.

...

For a moment, Ye Jun just sat there, eyes wide in disbelief. He couldn't believe he had gained so much in just a few hours of hunting.

He quickly stood up and washed his face before sitting down to look through it again.

'First of all, I've advanced to the Eighth-Stage Body Strengthening Realm. Woah! Just wow! This is ridiculous. Just how many Spiritual Beasts did I kill?'

Ye Jun needed to study how the attributes worked when he got them by killing. After all, this was the biggest jump he had gotten in a single day. It brought him much closer to Ye Chen.

'My Comprehension also increased. But how? This doesn't even make sense.'

A few guesses came to his mind, so he decided to test them out later.

'My Dao Affinity increased, especially Death. I was right. Killing drops Death attributes. Fire also increased, so does that mean I killed Fire-attributed Spiritual Beasts? Possibly. So do they drop Affinity on dying or while fighting?'

He would have to check that too. There were too many things he needed to experiment with to learn more about the system.

'Shame my system doesn't have sentience.'

Currently, affinities were mostly useless to him since he couldn't use them. He would need a cultivation base of at least the Qi Condensation Realm to use Fire-attributed Mysterious Techniques.

'But Dao of Slaughter and Dao of Hunt are different.'

Unlike his other affinities, which were clearly elemental in nature, these two were different. They were intent-based Daos. Although, he was probably only half right.

'My knowledge about these Daos is either just common sense or from the novels I've read. I shouldn't let that affect my judgment.'

Ye Jun could see why he gained affinity with these two Daos. He had basically slaughtered his way through the wilderness yesterday, and perhaps that act dropped attributes too. And he had also hunted many Spiritual Beasts.

'But I don't drop attributes.'

That confused him. It was then his gaze fell on his passive skills, and a theory formed in his mind as he narrowed his eyes.

'No way I got all of these in a single day,' he was suspicious of his progress, so he decided to test his theory.

Standing up, he went to the center of the courtyard and closed his eyes, taking a deep breath to calm his nerves. Then, he remembered a martial art he had learned in his previous life.

Eight Trigram Palm, also known as Baguazhang, was a mobility-dominant internal martial art built on constant circular footwork, angle creation, and whole-body coiling power. It wasn't about trading blows but appearing where the enemy was weakest.

It suited him quite well, so he had mastered it.

Remembering its details, he began to perform its stances, which involved twisting his torso and moving in circles. It impacted many important parts like tendons and strengthened them.

Since he was already familiar with it and his body was also much stronger, he completed it one time swiftly but achieved nothing. Still, he was patient and performed it again.

'Even if my theory fails, it'll still strengthen my body, so it's not a waste of time.'

That thought soothed his mind.

By the time he had done it thirty times, sweat made his forehead shine under the sun. He had increased the intensity, which stressed his body further.

It was at that moment he sensed a change—an insignificant one, but still a change. He stopped and turned toward his status.

Sure enough, he noticed Eight Trigram Palm added to his active skills. There was also something interesting about it which made him grin.

Eight Trigram Palm Lv. 03 (23%)

'Bingo! It actually records my proficiency and skills from my previous life too. It just needs to be performed before it's added. Is it related to the body getting used to it, or because of the soul assimilation?'

There was no way he gained three levels in such a short time, so the only plausible explanation was that his mastery from his previous life carried over to this one.

He had gotten suspicious of this after seeing so many passive skills that didn't make sense, especially considering their high levels.

'Interesting! Maybe the Dao of Slaughter and Dao of Hunt are also because of my previous life, which got amplified by my actions yesterday.'

Ye Jun wanted to laugh. He really had such a good cheat. He could not only grow stronger simply by gathering attributes, he could also attain multiple Daos simply through collecting attributes, unlike others who had to comprehend them through years of cultivation.

Not to mention, he also gained skills.

'And an Innate Physique too.'

Ye Jun didn't know how he got this since his memories were muddled, but it showed him another fact: he could actually get Innate Physiques by collecting attributes.

It was a ridiculous thing considering Innate Physiques were rare and one rarely gained them. One was simply born with them. And even if they gained one, they were usually limited to a single physique.

'Holy hell! I just need time and the right environment. The things I can achieve with this system are insane.'

Just then, he noticed Meihui coming out of the hut, her blonde hair tied in a bun, showing more of her beautiful face as loose locks framed it. She smiled at him and said, "I gathered a few Mysterious Techniques suitable for you."

An evil glint passed through Ye Jun's eyes as he grinned and thought, 'One month. Live well, little brother. This is your last month in this world.'
