[ding!! Would you like to integrate the Academy Shop Crystal with the system?
"What will happen?" Will asked while looking at the crystal in his hand.
[Nothing much. You will be able to access the academy shop from the system interface.
"Okay. Do it," Will replied without hesitation.
The crystal in his hand gave off a faint glow for a brief moment before dissolving into small particles of light. Those particles entered his body and disappeared completely.
Will did not feel any physical change.
However, when he focused inward, a new option appeared within the system interface. The academy shop had been successfully integrated.
He shifted his attention back to the items inside the box.
The next item he picked up was the academy student badge.
It came in four different colors.
Students ranked below fifty received a red badge.
Students ranked between eleven and fifty received a blue badge.
Those ranked from second to tenth received a purple badge.
The Archon alone received a black badge.
The badge was meant to display hierarchy inside the academy. It was mandatory to wear it on the uniform, usually near the belt.
Apart from identification, it also functioned as a storage medium for academy points.
As the Archon, Will had received fifty thousand academy points for securing the first rank.
On top of that, he had been awarded two hundred thousand academy points for his contribution during the calamity.
The badge felt slightly warm in his hand.
He placed it aside and reached into the box again.
The next item was another set of academy uniforms, different from the ones they got during orientation. It was pristine white and neatly folded. The fabric felt smooth to the touch.
Embedded into it were self-cleaning runes and minor defensive measures. It was clearly superior to the regular uniforms given to most students.
After that came an academy guide, which told several rules, regulations, and criteria on which the academy judged the student's results.
Along with it were several academy shop coupons. Most of them were meant for purchasing weapons or techniques.
Will took a moment to assess everything.
His monthly allowance was ten thousand academy points. Technically, if he chose to lie low and avoid missions, he could sustain himself comfortably.
However, that was not realistic.
Will knew better than anyone that time was moving fast.
"Anyway, let's do some shopping," he muttered. "Open the academy shop."
The interface opened smoothly.
Will scrolled through the academy shop carefully. There were many items available, ranging from weapons to artifacts and consumables. However, his main focus was on techniques.
He cultivated multiple affinities and energies. Without proper techniques, those energies would remain inefficient in battle.
One by one, he selected what he needed.
He used every discount coupon he had obtained. He made sure to purchase only the best quality the academy could offer. He did not hesitate even when the prices were high.
After all, he could not rely on monthly allowances forever.
Time was precious.
Learning multiple techniques would not be a burden for him. With absolute affinity, the process would be much faster compared to others.
During his last battle, Will had realized something important.
He had not used his abilities to their full potential.
Instead of relying on proper movement techniques or spells, he had depended almost entirely on sword intent and basic mana application for increasing his speed.
That approach worked only because of the Primordial God Flow Scripture that allowed Will to have a superior control over all the energies he cultivated.
However, that did not mean he could ignore the advantages of refined techniques.
With that realization in mind, Will completed his purchases.
Once everything was finalized, he stood up from his chair and stepped out of the room.
The sun was already nearing the horizon.
He intended to enter the Domain of Infinite to train. However, before doing that, he needed to eat properly.
Will knew he would not be coming out for seven days.
Inside the domain, seven days would stretch into seven years.
He was not willing to miss such an opportunity.
The rations inside the domain were bland. Will had no interest in buying food from the system shop either.
So he headed toward the cafeteria.
Without holding back, he spent thousands of academy points to order hundreds of dishes.
The cooks were visibly shaken when they saw the order.
Still, they complied.
Dozens of chefs worked in parallel, preparing dish after dish. Will stored most of the food inside his system inventory. Only the final batch was carried to his table.
As he began eating, he noticed something odd.
The cafeteria was quiet.
In the novel, this place had been described very differently at this point in time after the orientation.
It was supposed to be filled with excitement. Decorations were meant to be hung everywhere. New students were supposed to gather, talk, celebrate, and make friends.
But that was not the case now.
There were no decorations.
Only a few seniors sat scattered across the vast hall.
Most students were either locked inside their rooms or had gone back to their hometowns for the week.
The cult's attack had shaken everyone deeply.
Will looked outside through the wide glass window.
The sky was painted in orange shades as the sun slowly set.
The sound of his utensils echoed faintly across the empty hall.
For a brief moment, his movements slowed.
The fork loosened in his grip.
He sighed.
Will stood up and walked closer to the window and kept standing there quietly, looking at the setting sun without saying anything.
Several moments passed.
Then he returned to his seat and resumed eating.
What he felt was not loneliness.
It was something else.
He wanted a world without hunger. A world without suffering. A world without sorrow.
But he knew such a world could not exist.
This was not a utopia.
Ambitions like that were luxuries in a world soaked in pain.
Then suddenly the system's voice sounded in his mind.
[Hmm... anyway, I have found a good timeline for our next plan.]
Will paused briefly.
"I thought of many possibilities," he replied. "But I never thought I would have to act as a babysitter for demons."
Host, it is important for our mission. This will be the foundational step for phase 1 of your plan.]
Will did not argue any further.
He finished his meal quietly while he looked at his status.
Before this mission was a training schedule of seven years, and he was looking forward to it.
