Chapter 124 - Trial

The lion roared, its tail twitching, while the angel flapped its wings, the stone sword in its hand gradually glowing with golden light. A creature resembling the unnamable horrors of Cthulhu mythology writhed, its body covered in tentacles and eyes.

Despite their stone exteriors, these animated figures showed no sign of being inanimate.

"Is this the level of Agamotto's spellcraft?" Chen Chen murmured, stroking his chin as he carefully observed the stone statues.

These Stone Golems were creations of Agamotto, sculpted after observing the universe and then brought to life. While their abilities couldn't match their prototypes, Chen Chen was still surprised by the hint of sentience in their movements.

This spark of sentience was akin to bestowing life, a breakthrough like the touch of two fingers creating something from nothing. In that instant of connection, divine power had granted human-like souls.

It was a miracle.

"Perhaps I can have a proper magical exchange with those three here," Chen Chen thought, glancing subtly at the three figures seated on the black platform.

"Chen Chen, they're here," Kazusa said, standing beside him. She had spotted the Stone Golems swarming toward them, their bodies already radiating crimson magical energy. With a swift series of hand gestures, she channeled energy from within, rapidly condensing it into a crimson rune before her.

"Tamamo, come forth." She struck the rune, which exploded into a spatial portal. A massive figure twisted and slithered forth.

It was a colossal fox. Its golden fur blazed like a fiery flame in the setting sun, while its snow-white face bore a pair of alluring eyes shimmering with purple light. Nine demonic tails writhed wildly in the air, and nine sun-like purple orbs of fire orbited its immense body.

"Compared to before, she seems even more powerful. It appears Kazusa has undergone intense training in my absence," Chen Chen thought, sensing the dramatically increased heat emanating from Tamamo. This gave him a rough understanding of her current strength and recent cultivation progress.

"Ah! It's been so long since I've come out to stretch my legs," Tamamo said lazily, shaking her tail. She gazed at Chen Chen, lowered her head slightly, and said respectfully, "Lord Chen Chen, it's been a long time."

Despite her usual pride, Tamamo felt no resentment at being addressed as "Lord Chen Chen." She knew all too well the true nature of the man before her.

Her spiritual perception far surpassed human capabilities, allowing her to sense combat situations through spiritual intuition. In the past, due to Chen Chen's deliberate holding back and casual attitude, she hadn't understood his true strength.

But during Dormammu's invasion of Earth, Tamamo, all the way in Japan, had sensed the event. The overwhelming power Dormammu displayed had plunged her into despair, leaving her feeling utterly powerless to resist. Yet she soon detected Chen Chen's familiar aura.

As the two energies clashed, Dormammu's utterly evil and dark fluctuations completely vanished, replaced by Chen Chen's rapidly expanding aura. The outcome of their battle was thus self-evident.

In a way, Tamamo had witnessed the entire process of Chen Chen's battle against Dormammu. It was precisely because of this that she showed such profound humility toward him.

After greeting Chen Chen, Tamamo's figure blurred with a *whoosh* as she instantly materialized before a Stone Golem charging at her. The air tore with sonic booms as she swung her arm, the very atmosphere seeming to rip apart.

Sensing Tamamo's incoming strike, the Stone Golem roared again, its razor-sharp claws meeting her attack head-on.

*Boom!*

The claws collided, unleashing a deafening sonic boom that split the earth, tearing open a massive fissure.

*Boom!*

The two massive figures crashed together again, entangling in a furious struggle. Energy fluctuations radiated from the Stone Golem while Tamamo's purple solar flames surged around her body, clashing violently. Kazusa darted around the Stone Golem, supporting Tamamo's assault with lightning-infused Yin-Yang spells that crackled across the golem's stony hide.

These Stone Golems appeared to recognize only a single Sorcerer as their target, a restriction likely imposed by Agamotto. This prevented any Sorcerer from being overwhelmed by multiple golems, as this was a selection process, not a genuine attempt to take the Sorcerers' lives.

Meanwhile, the other sorcerers had already found their opponents, unleashing a barrage of spells from their hands at the Stone Golems.

However, to their surprise, the multicolored energy flowing through the golems' bodies easily shattered the young sorcerers' magical attacks. The golems then charged forward, engaging them in close-quarters combat, causing particular anguish for those less skilled in melee.

"Roar! Roar! Roar!"

A rhinoceros-shaped Stone Golem charged at Chen Chen. Its massive form, the size of a large truck, dwarfed its living counterpart. With thunderous strides, it hurtled toward him with terrifying momentum.

Yet in Chen Chen's eyes, the giant rhino's once-furious charge seemed to slow to a hundredth of its normal speed. As the creature tilted its body, he leisurely stepped aside. With a simple, unadorned motion, he raised his right hand. No stored energy, no leverage, no magical power—just a plain, ordinary lift.

*Bang!*

The giant rhinoceros's charge, a force capable of leveling cities, was effortlessly blocked by Chen Chen's right hand. He gripped the beast's horn, as thick as a water barrel, and revealed a cruel smile. "Your strength is adequate."

With a sudden squeeze of his right hand, the rhinoceros's flesh and blood twisted and burst through the gaps between his fingers.

He didn't pause. His left hand flattened into a palm and slammed into the front of the giant rhinoceros puppet.

The space his palm swept through cracked, and the resulting vacuum pulled in air so violent it could tear flesh.

*Boom!* His palm didn't actually touch the rhinoceros. It stopped just short of its head, instead sending the creature flying backward.

The overwhelming force hurled the multi-ton rhinoceros through the air at supersonic speed, sending it crashing into the forest behind, where bizarre plants grew.
