Chapter 43 - Chapter 43: Blood-Cursed Beastmen

Alice MacFusty seemed very familiar with the Forbidden Forest. Adelaide watched her hurry along, heading straight for a devastated area.

Perhaps due to the heavy snow, they didn't encounter any intelligent creatures or dangerous beasts in the Forbidden Forest along the way.

As they walked, Adelaide saw Alice stop. She quickly hid behind a large tree and peeked her head out to observe the front.

The sight before her left her dumbfounded: rows of trees not far away looked as if they had suffered an extremely violent impact, scattered in shattered pieces across the ground; the soil in the clearing was churned beyond recognition, and even though it was covered with a thick layer of white snow, Adelaide could still make out the irregular furrows beneath the snow.

Adelaide had a bold guess—the MacFusty siblings couldn't possibly be raising a Giant in the Forbidden Forest!

Just as she was looking around for traces of a Giant, Alice suddenly knelt down. Her chest heaved violently, and her hands frantically tore at the buttons of her school uniform, looking quite deranged.

Adelaide's eyes widened. Could this person have been drugged?

Who would be so beastly? She's only 11!

As Alice's clothes became fewer, her expression grew increasingly ferocious, her eyes became more savage, and a low growl escaped her lips.

Adelaide quickly dismissed the idea of her being 'drugged,' because the scene before her was too bizarre to be explained by simple drug effects.

By Merlin, what in the world is happening!

Adelaide was in a state of extreme conflict. On one hand, she felt it was immoral to continue peeking at someone else's naked body; on the other hand, she was worried that Alice might be in some kind of dangerous state, and if she just turned and left—uh, they were classmates after all... As Adelaide hesitated, MacFusty's actions grew stranger. She began to twist her body in an extremely bizarre posture, a sight that was chilling, as if something terrifying was about to burst out from beneath her skin.

Facing such an astonishing scene, Adelaide nervously held her breath, her eyes fixed on the naked figure not far away, her heartbeat echoing exceptionally clearly in the silent Forbidden Forest.

The scene seamlessly switched from a welfare film to a horror film. Adelaide was both shocked and scared, and began to regret not having slipped away earlier.

A chilling grinding sound of bones emanated from Alice's small body. The sound was so piercing it felt as if it would directly penetrate Adelaide's eardrums, making her clench her teeth.

Alice's body rapidly swelled like a balloon, and black, ink-like scales covered her skin like bamboo shoots after a spring rain.

As her body elongated, bony growths on her spine violently pierced through her skin, and sharp bone spurs protruded skyward at an alarming speed, like a row of hideous fangs.

Not only that, Alice's originally neat and white teeth began to twist and deform, becoming enormous and sharp, like the fangs of a beast.

Even more terrifying, a pair of huge bat wings slowly extended from her shoulder blades. The edges of the wings were covered with sharp barbs, and a gentle flap could stir up gusts of wind.

And from the base of her spine, a long tail extended, its tip shaped like an arrowhead, glinting with a cold light, seemingly capable of easily piercing through any object.

Furthermore, her hands and feet also underwent terrifying changes; her fingertips and toes grew curved and sharp claws, which looked strong enough to tear through steel.

In the blink of an eye, Alice, who was ranked second in beauty among the 1990 freshmen, had vanished, replaced by a massive, terrifying black Dragon.

Adelaide took a deep breath, trying to suppress her emotions and keep herself from panicking too much.

She calmly analyzed that Alice's condition was clearly unrelated to Animagus, as an Animagus could maintain a clear consciousness and self-control while transforming into an animal.

However, Alice, who was furiously destroying her surroundings, had clearly lost her sanity completely, becoming a ferocious and brutal Dragon.

Adelaide desperately recalled the book 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' that she had read as extracurricular material—soon, an illustration of a Hebridean Black Dragon surfaced in the depths of her memory.

After careful comparison, Adelaide was certain that the Dragon before her was indeed a Hebridean Black Dragon, a breed documented in the book and cared for by the MacFusty Family for centuries!

Adelaide felt as if she had been struck by lightning. The fog in her mind instantly dissipated, and she finally understood the mysteries about Alice's file that had troubled her before. No wonder the MacFusty Family, despite being a pure-blood family, didn't belong to the Sacred Twenty-Eight. No wonder they were as rich as a nation yet holed up in the Hebrides Islands!

It turned out that many of their family members were not human Wizards, but Blood-Cursed Beastmen.

This Blood Curse was extremely peculiar; it didn't immediately kill its victims like other malicious curses. Instead, it silently lurked in the victim's blood, slowly festering over time, and then passed down to the next generation through blood ties.

When the cursed individual reached a certain age threshold or maxed out their transformation count, the Blood Curse would activate, completely transforming them into an animal that had lost its sanity and human form—however, the animals the MacFusty Family could transform into were somewhat special, and Adelaide wasn't sure if this was a typical Blood Curse.

Moreover, once a Blood-Cursed Beastman underwent permanent transformation, there was no way to restore them to their original state, neither powerful magic nor advanced medical skills could help.

It was precisely for this reason that the MacFusty Family had always cautiously hidden in the Hebrides Islands, trying to avoid contact with the outside world.

Most of their members dared not send their children to Hogwarts for education, and could only provide homeschooling for their descendants.

Thinking of this, Adelaide couldn't help but frown, pondering to herself: Dumbledore, as Principal, must have known the detailed situation of Alice MacFusty... Could it be that his benevolent heart acted up, just like how he treated Remus Lupin—

No, while Werewolves are dangerous, their destructive power compared to Dragons is simply insignificant.

Especially since there is currently no potion that can restore a Blood-Cursed Beastman's sanity, if Alice were to transform on campus even slightly carelessly, all the students at Hogwarts would be in a very dangerous situation!
