Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: Adelaide's Daily Life

Having successfully solved the wand problem, Adelaide felt as if a heavy burden had been lifted; she could finally devote herself entirely to a relaxed and pleasant daily life.

From Monday to Friday, Adelaide would head to school. While slacking off in her studies, she never forgot to tease the serious little Hermione. Seeing Hermione's face turn red with embarrassment and anger, Adelaide couldn't help but curl her lips into a joyful smile—which Hermione would interpret as mockery, triggering her 'berserk mode' as she chased Adelaide wildly through the corridors.

More than once, Adelaide mused that Hermione truly belonged in Gryffindor.

On Saturdays when she had no plans, Adelaide would transform into a shut-in, lounging on the living room sofa, eating various snacks and watching cartoons or movies all day. When she got tired, she'd just nap right there until Edward returned in the evening with Sweet and Sour Chicken, Crispy Duck, and Egg Fried Rice from a Chinese restaurant.

As for Sunday, it was the busiest day of Adelaide's week.

Considering Gellert Grindelwald's physical and mental condition, after some effort from Albus Dumbledore and St Mungos, Adelaide was granted a precious weekly visitation opportunity.

However, due to safety considerations, the International Confederation of Wizards stipulated that Dumbledore must accompany Adelaide throughout every visit.

At exactly nine o'clock on Sunday morning, a neatly dressed Adelaide, accompanied by Dumbledore, would head to St Mungos Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries to visit her Great-Granduncle, Gellert Grindelwald.

Upon entering the special ward, Dumbledore would wipe the smile from his face and sit expressionless on a somewhat worn-out sofa next to the door, silently watching Adelaide with eyes as deep as the sea.

No matter how animatedly the two talked, he would remain silent, as if in another world, quietly listening without offering his own opinions or insights, like a silent statue.

A few times, Gellert couldn't restrain his inner impulse and took the initiative to strike up a conversation with Dumbledore, but he was rebuffed every time.

Faced with Gellert's sudden requests for conversation, Dumbledore would generally remain immersed in his own thoughts as if he hadn't heard a thing, not even bothering to turn his head, let alone give a response.

Even on the rare occasions when Adelaide was signaled by Gellert's eyes to skillfully steer the topic toward Dumbledore, he remained completely unyielding. At most, he would perfunctorily utter a few words before returning to his taciturn state.

In this long and arduous 'battle to win back his wife,' Gellert had certainly suffered quite a bit. Despite gathering his courage to launch offensive after offensive, the results were always unsatisfactory, meeting with rejection time and again.

Yet, admirably, despite so many setbacks and failures, Gellert remained undaunted. He persistently continued his fierce pursuit of Dumbledore, using all sorts of rhetoric to force Albus to speak to him—almost always ending in failure.

To the point where even Adelaide, witnessing the whole process from the side, couldn't help but feel pity, secretly feeling a trace of regret for this persistent man.

When the sun was at its zenith and sunlight flooded St Mungos, Dumbledore would stand up and take Adelaide with him.

Their destination was usually the small shop called the Hogs Head Inn in Hogsmeade Village, which was owned by Dumbledore's brother—Aberforth Dumbledore.

As soon as they stepped through the door, they would see Aberforth's perpetually sour face.

Although he wasn't very welcoming to his own brother, he was quite efficient with his work.

Aberforth would skillfully wave his wand to prepare delicious dishes: savory Yorkshire Pudding, enticing and succulent Lamb Chops, and sweet, crispy Treacle Tart... every dish was mouth-watering.

After lunch, Adelaide would always happily receive a special surprise—Chocolate, Raspberry, and Crushed Nut Ice Cream handmade by Aberforth.

This sweet dessert not only satisfied Adelaide's taste buds but also added a touch of warmth and beauty to an otherwise dull week.

Dumbledore seemed to place great importance on his interactions with Adelaide. Every Sunday afternoon, he would stroll with her along the winding paths on the edge of Hogsmeade Village.

Walking side by side, they talked softly. The topics were very scattered, almost whatever came to mind.

Things like Adelaide's innermost thoughts, her academic performance and gains during the week, various interesting things that happened at school, the new friends she had made, and her unique insights and opinions on Muggle textbooks, various comics, extracurricular books, and television programs.

Whenever Adelaide enthusiastically recounted those seemingly mundane details of life, Dumbledore would always show an interested expression, occasionally asking her to elaborate on aspects he found intriguing, as if every detail she spoke of was filled with endless attraction.

This made Adelaide quite puzzled. Did Dumbledore really like listening to the insights of an underage little Witch so much?

She was currently just a 10-year-old girl living an ordinary Muggle life. She really couldn't understand what was so special about her plain daily routine that could attract the attention of such a great Wizard.

As night quietly fell and the lights began to glow, they would end their long and pleasant walk and return to their cozy home at 13 Oak Road, London.

There, Edward had already prepared a hearty and delicious dinner, waiting for their return.

Amandine would occasionally come over for dinner. Adelaide very much welcomed the older sister's arrival because she would look down on so-called British 'delicacies' and cook them some better-tasting French dishes.

They would sit around the dining table, chatting and enjoying the food in harmony, as if they were a real family.

After dinner, Dumbledore would use floo powder to rush back to Hogwarts to handle busy affairs, and Amandine would Apparate back to France to continue her life as a workhorse intern.

Meanwhile, Edward would unhurriedly begin cleaning the dining room. Only after everything was organized would he drag his slightly tired body back to his room to enjoy a comfortable hot bath to wash away the week's fatigue.

At the same time, Adelaide would quickly duck into her room, racing against time to find her pen and paper and work non-stop on the mountain of weekend homework.

Adelaide spent the last night of every week burning the midnight oil, writing furiously.

Tomorrow would be a new week.
