After four hours, Lilian woke to the sound of male voices arguing in the sitting room next to the bonding room that was now become their room.
She lay still for a moment, letting consciousness return slowly, feeling her body remarkably better. The bone-deep exhaustion and the soreness had faded, replaced by actual energy that made her want to move rather than burrow deeper into the blankets.
Most of the time since she stayed here in the estate, she spent on the bed. And she became very upset about it, as she felt utterly useless.
But the voices didn't settle, Dante and Lucien still continuing their debate. Lilian smiled against her pillow, listening to words she could now make out clearly.
"~absolutely not. That story makes no sense."
"It makes perfect sense. Plenty of brothers live together."
"Three adult brothers in their thirties, all single, all living with their married brother and his new wife? That's not normal, that's a red flag."
