Chapter 104 - The Spear of Longinus!

Following the residual effect clinging to his body from the recent banishment, and with the uncertain assistance of the Red Dragon Emperor's "gift," Hiro was precisely delivered back to his original location by the White Steel of the Water Spirit.

The moment his feet touched the ground, his eyes locked onto the culprit who had sent him into the future.

August.

The Magic King stood not far away.

Judging from the lack of vigilance from Azazel and Serafall nearby, the magic circle beneath August's feet clearly wasn't an offensive formation. Defensive, or perhaps teleportation.

But that didn't matter.

Hiro had just been backstabbed.

Even if he hadn't actually suffered losses-and had even gotten an "Eve" for free-his mood was still terrible.

Whatever had happened during his disappearance could wait.

First, he was going to have a conversation with August.

Crotched Time Control: Fivefold Speed.

The world slowed.

Everything within his field of vision-including the faint glow of the magic circle under August's feet-became incomparably sluggish.

Even August's eyes widening in shock were clearly visible.

At the edge of his vision, Grayfia was looking at him as well, her elegant lips slightly parted, as if she wanted to say something.

"Hiro!"

"Hiro-kun!"

"Hiro!"

Rias, Asia, Xenovia, and the others cried out almost simultaneously from the right.

It didn't change anything.

Hiro's already terrifying physical strength surged again, multiplied tens-no, hundreds-of times by the Red Dragon Emperor's armor.

Crack.

With a single step, the reinforced concrete floor beneath him collapsed outright.

Dense fractures raced outward, spreading across the floor, the surrounding structure, and even the ceiling.

The entire level began to sink.

And by then, Hiro had already achieved his objective.

Splat.

His right hand, wrapped in ochre-red dragon claws, punched cleanly through August's chest.

He crushed the heart without hesitation.

Then he tore open a massive hole in the center of the torso, dragged August out of the magic circle, and flung him forward into midair.

"Hiro-kun..."

"Hm?"

Hearing Grayfia's voice directly in his mind, Hiro turned his head, momentarily confused.

What he saw was her conflicted expression.

As if she wanted to explain something, but didn't know where to begin.

When their eyes met, helplessness flashed across her face.

She shook her head slightly and looked toward the direction August had been thrown.

She said nothing.

Ding! Congratulations to the Host for plundering Luck.

Reward obtained: Spear of Longinus.

Spear of Longinus:

The lance that pierced the Son of God in Biblical mythology. Due to the blessing of this concept, as long as this spear inflicts a piercing wound on a "God-type" enemy, it can kill them regardless of the circumstances.

Kill them regardless of the circumstances?

Hearing the rare explanatory note, Hiro's heart skipped for a moment.

Then he sneered inwardly.

Yeah, right.

If I used this thing to stab Azi Dahaka in Little Garden, would I instantly become the "Final Good of This World"?

Before becoming a Trial of Humanity, Azi Dahaka had been an Evil God of Zoroastrianism.

After acquiring the Spirit Foundation of a Trial of Humanity and becoming the "Final Evil of This World," there'd never been any indication that he'd discarded his original status.

In other words, he held both identities.

An Evil God and a Trial of Humanity.

Dual citizenship.

That additional Spirit Foundation didn't just give him the trait of "only killable by humans."

It also pushed his existence past the standard three-digit ceiling.

Like the White Night King and the Queen of Halloween, he reached an Exceptional level.

Still not two-digit.

But far beyond what a standard Longinus-one that at best killed a three-digit Biblical "Son of God"-should be able to handle.

Using this spear to solo an Exceptional three-digit Trial of Humanity?

Nice dream.

Unless the System decided to suddenly buff this Longinus to absurd levels.

Glancing at the blood-red lance resting in his inventory, Hiro didn't hold out much hope.

Turning back, he faced the almost identical expressions on Rias, Grayfia, and the others.

Bewilderment crept into his eyes.

"I just killed a terrorist," he said calmly. "What's with those looks?"

Hiro had long accepted that not every "intruder" would be reasonable or cooperative.

He felt no psychological burden about killing August.

Besides, before being banished, he'd already seen August's body nearly turn entirely into salt.

If that hadn't killed him, what difference did a missing heart make?

"Hiro-kun," Grayfia said at last, her tone composed, "Lord August just now... wasn't actually an enemy."

"From a results standpoint, that's not wrong," Azazel added from the side, nodding.

Serafall-still in her magical girl outfit-hopped over cheerfully.

Leaning forward to peer at the spot where August had vanished, she explained,

"After all, even though that guy made the first move, he didn't actually hurt any of us."

"Even you, Hiro, who got sent away, would've automatically returned after an hour."

"Well-there's no way to prove that now, though."

"Then what was he here for?" Hiro shot back. "To say hello?"

As he spoke, his expression turned flat.

"That part," Serafall said, emphasizing her words, "only Grayfia knows."

"After that guy whispered a few sweet nothings to Grayfia, he was planning to leave."

"And then you hit him."

She stressed sweet nothings quite deliberately.

Grayfia remained silent.

Sweet nothings.

So-telepathy.

Or some form of mental communication magic.

Hiro understood immediately.

The situation... was more awkward than he'd expected.
