Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 The Simple Way

Chapter 8 The Simple Way

Wu Lei quickly entered the game, sitting down and putting on the virtual reality device under Su Ran's guidance.

"Oh my God!"

"Is this really just a game world? Is it fake?"

"Can I really explore and adventure freely in a game world like this?"

Yesterday, Wu Lei had only watched Su Ran play through the computer screen and already felt it was incredibly exciting.

Now, personally entering the game world, Wu Lei was immediately deeply shocked by this almost real world.

"Why do Ancient Dragons migrate to the New World? Will there really be a secret about Ancient Dragons in the New World?"

"It's been forty years since the first investigation team, and the Guild sending our fifth investigation team out seems very optimistic about uncovering the mystery of the Ancient Dragon migration!"

On the ship heading to the New World, the team members were discussing information about the New World and Ancient Dragons.

Wu Lei listened with great interest, his eyes gleaming.

A brand New World seemed to be right before his eyes.

Immediately after, a shipwreck occurred, the Melting Mountain Dragon appeared, and after successfully escaping the Melting Mountain Dragon, Wu Lei finally saw the true face of the New World…

"I actually escaped from such a terrifying savage beast?"

"The New World, is that the New World? This is too magnificent!"

The feeling of surviving a disaster, coupled with the New World being right in front of him, and the exhilaration of clearing away the clouds, thrilled Wu Lei from head to toe.

As soon as he landed on the island, Wu Lei also received a mission to hunt a Thief Wyvern.

Wu Lei, of course, did not hesitate and accepted the mission.

As for choosing a weapon, although other weapons looked quite novel and interesting, he had no hesitation in choosing the Taichi Sword because he thought it was too cool when he watched Su Ran play yesterday.

After choosing his weapon and entering the Ancient Tree Forest, he quickly encountered his target.

"Is that a Thief Wyvern?"

Wu Lei was initially curious and wanted to take a few more glances, but who knew, the Thief Wyvern immediately spotted him and charged at him furiously.

"Holy crap, it's so fast…"

Then, Wu Lei was predictably killed by the Thief Wyvern.

However, Wu Lei did not feel scared; instead, he became even more excited.

"Is this what it feels like to fight a savage beast?"

"And dying in the game really doesn't mean dying in real life. Good, let's continue!"

Not dying meant there were no worries.

Wu Lei began to fully enjoy the thrilling and realistic combat experience!

And through continuous combat and death against the Thief Wyvern, he slowly figured out some combat tricks.

Finally, after an hour, he successfully slayed the Thief Wyvern.

This speed was much faster than Zhao Tie's earlier.

"I actually managed to kill a savage beast?"

"This is great, it's absolutely great!"

Wu Lei's hand, holding the Taichi Sword, trembled with excitement, overjoyed beyond words.

He was born with blocked meridians, making it impossible for him to become a martial artist in his lifetime. Fighting savage beasts was something he dared not even dream of before.

In the past, when listening to stories or reading novels, he could only fantasize about being the protagonist in the story, experiencing adventures and fighting strong opponents.

But now, all of this had actually come true.

In this game, he was the protagonist, able to personally adventure freely in a realistic world and fight different monster enemies.

Oh my god, this was simply the world he had always dreamed of!

Wu Lei clenched his fists, his heart surging: "As a member of the fifth investigation team, I must defeat all the monsters on this continent and uncover the truth behind the Ancient Dragon migration!"

With such grand ambitions, Wu Lei continued his gaming journey.

In his battles with the Thief Wyvern, he had already mastered basic combat techniques. Moreover, after reaching the investigation team's base, he changed his equipment and brought potions.

Needless to say, he easily dealt with the small monsters, and even the first few beginner bosses, the Great Jagras and the Kulu-Ya-Ku, were defeated with only a few deaths.

Wu Lei kept killing, unable to stop, and even felt that no monster could stand in his way.

Until he encountered the Tobi-Kadachi.

Wu Lei's death frequency began to increase, and he got stuck.

"Holy crap, this Tobi-Kadachi is too abnormal!"

"It's fast and can discharge electricity. The most crucial thing is that it likes to climb trees and not come down, and you die if you get hit twice."

Wu Lei tried for a long time but still couldn't quite figure out the trick, feeling very frustrated. He couldn't help but take off the virtual reality device and turn his head.

"Do you know how to beat it?"

He saw that Su Ran was no longer behind him; only Achong stood there, staring intently at the screen, saying with an adoring expression, "I don't know, but Young Master, is the person on the screen really you? To be able to fight such a powerful savage beast, it's truly amazing!"

"I wasn't asking you!"

Wu Lei rolled his eyes at Achong. He was in a hurry to defeat the boss, so he quickly looked for Su Ran.

"Hey, boss, have you beaten the Tobi-Kadachi yet? This monster is quite tough!"

Su Ran had just finished a mission and got up to walk over.

He had watched Wu Lei fight earlier and knew that his style was rather unrestrained, lacking subtlety in many combat details.

Therefore, encountering a flexible monster like the Tobi-Kadachi, it was normal for him to struggle if he couldn't fully adapt to the monster's attack rhythm.

Even if he told him that the Tobi-Kadachi was weak to water and its weak point was its tail, he might not be able to solve it in a short time; he would at least need to practice for a long time.

As for a simple way to clear it, there were options: either upgrade his weapon and get a good set of equipment, or switch to a weapon that better suited his combat style.

Su Ran had originally intended to tell Wu Lei these things directly.

However, when he saw Achong standing behind Wu Lei, he paused, his eyes lit up, and he suddenly changed his mind, saying, "Actually, there is a very simple way to defeat the Tobi-Kadachi."

"What way?"

Wu Lei eagerly asked.

"Boss, tell me quickly! I need to craft a new weapon, and I'm just missing the Tobi-Kadachi materials. I'm in urgent need of them!"

Su Ran said matter-of-factly, "If you can't beat it alone, of course, you find help!"

Wu Lei had thought Su Ran had some good idea, but upon hearing this, he looked disappointed.

Wu Lei said with a frustrated expression, "Don't even get me started. Those guys from the investigation team usually seem quite friendly, but as soon as I ask them to go hunting together, they find all sorts of excuses to refuse. I don't know why!"

Su Ran knew that Wu Lei was referring to the NPCs in the game and understood the reason clearly.

This was a matter of game mechanics.

Although those game characters were very realistic and even truly had their own personalities, their existence was still limited by game mechanics.

Otherwise, to defeat one monster, a player could call dozens or even hundreds of companions, wouldn't that make it too easy, requiring no skill at all?

However, the help Su Ran was referring to was not this.

Su Ran chuckled and said, "I'm not talking about game characters, but players. Actually, this game has a multiplayer function. Players can play together with other players, just like the person next to you; you can let him join your game!"

"What? This game has such a feature?"

Wu Lei's face immediately lit up with surprise upon hearing this.
