(Mira's POV)
Luckily, I find out before the world does.
Ethan is still asleep when my phone lights up.
It's a forwarded document with a file name.
WOLFE_MARRIAGE_AGREEMENT_FINAL_DRAFT.pdf
I sit up slowly, the sheets falling away as I stare at the screen. The room is still dark, but the glow from my phone feels too bright.
The document isn't the version we signed. It's the older, annotated with draft notes and comments in the margins.
Someone has accessed the original negotiation file. And they did not do it by accident. My fingers hover over the screen.
Yesterday, I confronted Eleanor publicly. I stood in front of cameras and refused to shrink.
And now this? This is too clean and precise. I glance at Ethan as he changes positions slightly in his sleep.
For a second, I almost wake him immediately, but I stop because waking him would mean a legal reaction, containment, and defense: too much action. And if this is what I think it is, reacting too fast would confirm fear.
