Within the dim forest of Hueco Mundo, two colossal Reiatsu collided beneath the pallid moon.
One burned dark gold dense, controlled, and crackling with compressed Reiryoku.
The other flowed azure vast, heavy, and suffocating in its stillness.
The collision alone generated violent shockwaves that scattered mountains of Hollow corpses like drifting sand.
Nearby, Lilinette Gingerbuck clung to a thin tree trunk, boots digging into the earth as the pressure howled past her.
"Oi! Cut it out already!" she barked, though her voice was nearly swallowed by the storm.
Without a word, both Raizen Kō and Coyote Starrk withdrew their Reiatsu simultaneously.
The forest stilled.
The silence that followed was heavier than the clash itself.
Starrk's gaze toward Raizen was no longer distant. A subtle warmth recognition flickered there.
Raizen, however, was calculating.
Since evolving beyond Adjuchas and stepping onto the path toward natural Arrancarization, his Reiatsu had undergone a qualitative transformation. Even a fragment of his power, when placed into a clone body, could elevate it from lieutenant-class to Captain-class capability.
After devouring numerous Shinigami during the expedition sparing only Shūsuke Amagai his Reiryoku reserves had deepened further. Much of that power had been channeled into stabilizing his evolving Hollow–Shinigami hybrid structure, yet the amplification remained significant.
Through his Shinigami proxy, Raizen had observed Shunsui Kyōraku on multiple occasions. Based on those observations, Kyōraku's casual spiritual pressure output was comparable to Raizen's current base state.
Yet Starrk unreleased could match him.
That realization was sobering.
Canon had shown Starrk falling to Kyōraku's Shikai during the Battle of Karakura Town. But Raizen understood the truth: that defeat had been layered with hesitation, divided focus, and Starrk's own lack of killing intent.
Power alone had not decided that battle.
"You are strong," Starrk said quietly.
"You as well," Raizen replied.
For a fleeting moment, a dangerous thought surfaced:
If I devour him… would that final push allow complete Arrancar stabilization?
The idea died instantly.
Even in base form, Starrk was a being born from the apex of Vasto Lorde evolution. If he released his Resurrección Los Lobos Raizen could not guarantee victory.
More troubling was the unknown variable:
How powerful had Starrk been before dividing his soul?
The act of splitting himself to create Lilinette had permanently reduced his total combat output. Unlike Raizen's controlled soul-division technique which never permitted independent consciousness nor excessive soul allocation Starrk's separation was absolute.
Self-inflicted fragmentation.
All for the sake of companionship.
Raizen did not understand it.
To him, solitude was the crucible of strength. But strength was not Starrk's desire.
Companionship was.
Raizen exhaled softly.
"My name is Raizen Kō," he said. "I am gathering companions not subordinates, but equals who walk the same path."
Starrk blinked slowly.
"That's… convenient. We've been looking, too."
His tone was sincere.
Raizen continued, "Elsewhere in Hueco Mundo, I have others who can withstand Reiatsu on this level."
Starrk's eyes shifted toward the corpse mountains surrounding them.
"Our situation is… problematic."
His uncontrolled Reiatsu had crushed weaker Hollows for centuries. Loneliness had been forced upon him.
"They won't be crushed," Raizen answered evenly. "If they endure mine, they can endure yours."
Starrk studied him in silence.
Then something faint almost childlike flickered behind his weary expression.
Hope.
As Lilinette hopped down from the tree, clearly intrigued, Raizen raised a hand.
"One condition."
Both Arrancar looked at him.
"Wear something."
Their near-naked forms were a jarring contrast to their human resemblance. Raizen retrieved spare black Shinigami robes acquired from fallen expedition members and handed them over.
Starrk slipped into the uniform with indifferent ease. With his Zanpakutō manifested at his waist, he bore an uncanny resemblance to a wandering Shinigami.
Lilinette's oversized robes hung awkwardly, though she seemed pleased regardless.
Thus, an unlikely trio left the desolate forest together.
The Black Night Forest
When they reached the region known as the Black Night Forest, Raizen paused.
Years earlier, his clash with Ulquiorra Cifer had scarred half this domain.
Now, it stood restored Hueco Mundo's ecosystem, though desolate, possessed its own regenerative balance.
Without hesitation, Raizen released a controlled surge of Reiatsu.
A pillar of dark-gold light pierced the sky, illuminating the forest canopy.
Moments later, a deep emerald Reiatsu answered.
From the forest's depths emerged Ulquiorra white-skinned, bat-winged, mask fragment crowning his head, emerald eyes cold and analytical.
"My king," Ulquiorra said calmly upon arrival.
Starrk's eyes narrowed slightly.
Raizen nodded.
It had worked.
Years prior, through calculated dominance and psychological maneuvering, he had secured Ulquiorra's allegiance not through fear alone, but through demonstrated superiority.
"Ulquiorra," Raizen said, voice steady. "We move."
Ulquiorra knelt on one knee without hesitation.
"As you command."
Starrk exchanged a glance with Lilinette.
A Vasto Lorde submitting willingly.
Interesting.
Perhaps this path held more than solitude after all.
Harribel's Domain
Within a cavern carved by centuries of wind erosion, Tier Harribel sat observing Mila Rose and Sun-Sun spar lightly nearby.
Four distinct Reiatsu approached.
One she would never mistake.
Her eyes widened.
"Raizen…"
She moved instantly.
Outside the cavern entrance, she found him accompanied by three figures of immense spiritual density.
Raizen smiled faintly.
"Tia. I've returned."
Harribel stepped close, composed yet undeniably relieved. Raizen rested a hand briefly against her forehead a gesture of reassurance rather than possession.
Behind him, Starrk quietly assessed the scene.
Another Vasto Lorde-level presence.
And loyal.
Hueco Mundo was shifting.
Under the pale moonlight, four apex-class beings stood together.
Not bound by Aizen.
Not organized under Espada numeration.
But drawn together by resonance.
The desert winds howled faintly in the distance.
A new axis of power was forming in Hueco Mundo.
And Raizen Kō stood at its center.
