Chapter 54 - CHAPTER 54

The moment the dust from the shattered cliffs settled, Ito Makoto vanished in a burst of Shunpo, reappearing directly before the gravely wounded Halibel.

Without hesitation, he thrust Annihilation God forward, aiming to pierce through her mask fragment and end the battle in a single stroke.

But

Three crimson beams tore across the battlefield.

"Cero!"

The blasts converged toward Ito Makoto from different angles. He reacted instantly, pivoting mid-thrust and retreating with a flash step just as the three Ceros detonated where he had stood.

Smoke rolled across the broken sands of Hueco Mundo.

Emerging from the haze were Halibel's three loyal subordinates

Mila Rose. Apache. Sun-Sun.

The Tres Bestias.

"Why didn't you retreat?" Halibel demanded weakly, her body still embedded in fractured stone.

Sun-Sun's golden eyes narrowed coldly.

"We will never abandon Lady Halibel."

Apache stepped forward, antlered mask fragment gleaming under the pale moonlight.

"You hurt her. That alone is enough reason for you to die."

Mila Rose's mane bristled as Reiatsu flared around her.

"You'll pay for this, Shinigami."

Ito Makoto gave a low, dismissive chuckle.

"Three Adjuchas against me? You overestimate yourselves."

He flicked his wrist.

The chain attached to Annihilation God's hilt unraveled with a metallic shriek.

"Clang! Clang! Clang!"

Like a blackened serpent, the blade lashed outward in a wide arc. Reiatsu surged along the chain, amplifying the vibration force embedded within the weapon.

The strike landed.

All three Arrancar were blown backward violently, their Hierro cracking under the impact. They crashed into the dunes, unable to rise immediately.

With a single motion, Ito Makoto reeled the blade back and turned once more toward Halibel.

She could barely move.

"Lady Halibel!!" the Tres Bestias cried in desperation.

Ito Makoto stepped forward and raised his blade

"Clang!"

A second weapon intercepted the strike.

Sparks scattered across the pale desert.

Standing between Halibel and death was a towering figure clad in deep obsidian armor, skeletal and regal. Dark gold veins of Reiatsu pulsed faintly beneath his bone plating, giving him an almost divine presence.

His mask was complete. His pressure immense.

A Vasto Lorde.

Halibel's breath caught.

"Another… Vasto Lorde?"

The newcomer held a blade formed from condensed spiritual matter not an Asauchi, but a weapon shaped by his own Reiatsu.

And he did not move an inch under Ito Makoto's pressure.

Their blades clashed.

"Clang! Clang! Clang!"

Within mere exchanges, the tide shifted.

Ito Makoto who had dominated moments earlier was now being steadily forced backward.

"So strong…" Mila Rose whispered.

Even Halibel, prideful and resolute, felt a tremor in her chest.

The difference between us… is this vast?

The black-armored Vasto Lorde spoke at last, his voice calm yet resonant.

"A lone Shinigami daring to trespass into Hueco Mundo… how bold."

Reiatsu surged outward like a rising storm.

In his left hand, spiritual energy condensed and extended outward, forming a whip of crackling golden Reiatsu.

He attacked.

Blade in one hand. Lightning in the other.

Ito Makoto countered with Shunpo, reappearing above him and bringing Annihilation God down in a two-handed strike.

"Annihilation God Style One: Tremor!"

The vibrating force rippled outward.

The Vasto Lorde merely raised his blade.

The impact landed.

The ground fractured beneath their feet.

But the Vasto Lorde did not yield.

Reiatsu exploded outward in a violent pulse, forcibly dispelling the vibrational distortion.

"Insufficient," he said coldly.

The lightning whip cracked forward.

Ito Makoto attempted to evade

Too slow.

The whip struck across his chest.

A charred mark spread across his uniform as he was hurled backward through stone.

He coughed, regaining his footing.

"I didn't expect… a Hollow of this caliber."

He raised his blade again.

"Annihilation God Third Style: Mustard Net!"

A singular black point formed at the blade's tip.

It multiplied.

Expanded.

Wove itself into a devouring lattice of darkness that swallowed the surrounding air as it surged toward the Vasto Lorde.

Halibel's eyes widened.

It was the same technique that had erased her Gran Rey Cero without resistance.

But

The Vasto Lorde stepped forward.

One clean horizontal slash.

The net split apart as though cut by the edge of reality itself.

Dispersed.

Erased.

No strain. No hesitation.

Ito Makoto froze for half a breath.

Even at this output… I cannot overpower him.

The Vasto Lorde's golden eyes glinted faintly.

Enough.

Ito Makoto suddenly extended his hand.

"Hadō #33 Sōkatsui!"

A torrent of blue spiritual flame erupted forward, detonating against the cliffs behind the Vasto Lorde and engulfing the battlefield in dust and debris.

When the smoke cleared

The Shinigami was gone.

Shunpo carried him beyond the horizon of spiritual detection.

Apache snarled.

"We should chase him!"

Mila Rose clenched her fists.

"Finish him!"

But the Vasto Lorde raised a hand.

"No."

His voice was steady.

"That Shinigami possesses strength beyond an ordinary lieutenant. If he is here, others may be as well. Recklessness invites extinction."

He turned instead toward Halibel.

In a blur of Sonído, he appeared beside her and supported her as she struggled to stand.

"Why…" Halibel asked, breath uneven. "Why did you intervene?"

The Vasto Lorde regarded her quietly.

"Since awakening in this endless desert, I have seen only slaughter."

His voice softened not weak, but deliberate.

"In Hueco Mundo, power alone dictates survival. Yet you three were willing to die for one another."

His gaze shifted briefly to the kneeling Tres Bestias.

"In a realm defined by predation… you chose loyalty."

He extended his hand toward Halibel.

"That is strength of another kind."

Silence fell over the broken sands.

"I seek to transcend this world," he continued. "Not through domination alone, but through evolution beyond instinct."

His golden eyes locked with hers.

"Walk with me."

Halibel stared at the offered hand.

Not as prey.

Not as a subordinate.

But as an equal invited.

Slowly, despite her injuries, she knelt on one knee.

Behind her, Mila Rose, Apache, and Sun-Sun did the same.

"Great Vasto Lorde," Halibel said solemnly, "we do not yet know your name."

The obsidian figure answered calmly:

"Raizen Kō."

The name settled into the desert air like a declaration of fate.

Halibel lowered her head.

"Raizen Kō. I, Tia Halibel, will walk beside you through battle and through death."

The Tres Bestias echoed her vow without hesitation.

Raizen Kō regarded them for a long moment.

Then, he grasped Halibel's hand and lifted her gently to her feet.

"From this day forward," he said,

"We are no longer alone in Hueco Mundo."

The white desert, silent and eternal, bore witness to the birth of an alliance that would one day shake the balance of the Three Realms.
