Bella
We rushed out with Fred—
—and the moment I saw Logan on the floor, everything inside me dropped.
He was on his knees, bent forward, coughing so hard his whole body shook. Blood stained his lips. More dripped down his chin. Spike was holding him up from behind, one arm tight across his chest so he wouldn't fall face-first.
For one second, I forgot how to breathe.
Fred shoved past us before I could move. He dropped beside Logan and started mixing something in a small glass vial with quick hands that did not shake. That scared me more than the blood. Calm hands mean this isn't new. Calm hands mean this has happened before.
"What happened?" Lisa asked, her voice sharp.
I didn't wait for an answer. I was already on the floor beside him, my knees hitting the ground so hard I felt the sting shoot up my legs.
Spike answered, his voice rough. "Him and Nathan had a little fight. Nathan used his power on him. It took a toll."
A toll?
A toll?
