Chapter 62 - Chapter 58: The Demon and the Extra Member

The Morning of the Exchange Event.

The morning sun was bright and clear. Golden light filtered through the shadows of the trees and the curtains, casting dappled patterns into the faculty lounge.

Sitting with his back to the sun, Nanami Kento flipped through the newspaper in his hand.

Gojo Satoru rested his hands on the back of the sofa, legs crossed, and muttered softly.

"Nanami... do you think I should just kill that Fake Smiley Guy?"

"How about it?"

Nanami paused. He lowered the newspaper slightly.

"By 'Fake Smiley'... do you mean Zenin Mirai, who works here at the College?"

Gojo raised a hand. "Yeah~"

A hint of surprise flashed in Nanami's stoic eyes.

"Please don't play such a terrifying joke on me."

"I've only been back at the College for a short time. I don't want to face unemployment again so soon."

Gojo lowered his head. His tone dropped, becoming heavy and serious.

"Seriously. I wasn't joking."

"If I met him at the conference... I might just kill him."

What would happen?

Nanami realized Gojo wasn't speaking nonsense. He frowned, analyzing the situation deeply.

"The Jujutsu World..." Nanami said gravely. "Great chaos."

Regarding Zenin Mirai.

Nanami had only met him twice. His evaluation was consistent: Mysterious. Powerful. Cold-blooded. And dangerous.

The first time was when Suguru Geto declared war on the College. Mirai claimed he wanted to cooperate, but in the blink of an eye, he slaughtered a hostile Curse User. Afterward, he casually ordered a Grade 1 Sorcerer from his own family to cut off his own arm—and the man did it without hesitation.

The second meeting was during the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons. The image of those sky-covering Shikigami still lingered in Nanami's mind.

"I have no doubt you have the ability to kill him," Nanami looked at Gojo with a serious expression. "If you intend to kill him without considering the consequences, then I have nothing to say."

"Otherwise... even if you uproot the Zenin Family again, the world of Sorcery will be thrown into chaos."

Nanami adjusted his glasses. "The orthodox Jujutsu society will collapse. Everyone will feel insecure."

"More than 90% of Sorcerers will regard you as a Demon."

"They will view you like a Cursed Spirit—a monster who kills without restraint, based on his mood."

Nanami looked him in the eye. "And I... would think so too."

"Tsk."

Gojo fiddled with the bandage covering his eyes. His blue irises flashed with frustration.

"What if that guy teams up with the Cursed Spirits?"

"Evidence," Nanami stated simply. "Hard evidence."

"He is the Head of one of the Three Great Families. A powerful figure."

"If you try to make a fuss about a Cursed Spirit like White Zetsu—who looks like trash you could crush with a flick of your wrist—no Sorcerer will believe it justifies killing Mirai."

"Just like the people you've been protecting... Itadori-kun isn't the only irregularity."

"Hard evidence...?" Gojo murmured. "This is really troublesome."

After a moment of silence, Gojo changed the subject.

"That boy named Yoshino... His mother's accident was because of Sukuna's finger. Did you tell Yuji?"

Nanami picked up his newspaper again. "No. He would feel unnecessary guilt."

Gojo put his hands behind his head, relaxing instantly. "My decision to send you to take care of Yuji was truly brilliant."

"Then, what about Sukuna's fingers?"

"Handed over to the Higher-ups," Nanami replied coldly. "If I gave them to you, you'd probably just feed them to him, right?"

Mentioning Yuji, Nanami seemed concerned about the student he had come to respect.

"Is it really a good idea to let him participate in the Exchange Event?"

"Principal Gakuganji of Kyoto is a Conservative. If Itadori-kun shows up now... the Higher-ups will target us again."

"It's okay~"

Gojo's lips curled up slightly.

"That old man isn't in the mood to deal with such trivial matters right now."

...

The Venue Entrance.

Maki, Megumi, Nobara, Inumaki, and Panda.

The four students and one panda gathered at the designated meeting spot.

Maki checked the time on her phone and frowned.

"That idiot White Zetsu... is he sleeping in again?"

He was never on time for training, so Maki wasn't surprised.

"What should we do?" Panda asked. "Maybe I should go call him?"

"Ouch~"

A provocative voice rang out.

"Everyone from Tokyo! Did you come here specially to welcome us?"

Mai Zenin led the way as the six students from Kyoto High arrived.

Aoi Todo looked around, disappointed. "Okkotsu isn't here?"

Momo Nishimiya, a petite girl holding a broom, sized up the Tokyo first-years.

"No Okkotsu... and two first-years? Are they going easy on us?"

Ultimate Mechamaru, the robot, spoke up.

"Age doesn't represent a Sorcerer's strength."

Noritoshi Kamo, a young man with distinct eyebrows, narrowed his eyes. "Especially Fushiguro, who inherited the Zenin Family's technique."

Kasumi Miwa, with blue hair and a sword at her waist, looked around excitedly. She was searching for her idol, Gojo Satoru.

"Dear students."

The Kyoto instructor, Utahime Iori, frowned deeply.

"Where is that Blindfolded Idiot?"

...

"Yawn."

"Everyone's here. Looks like I'm not late after all."

Following behind Zenin Mirai, White Zetsu arrived late, his eyes still heavy with sleep.

"Idiot!" Maki barked in a low voice. "The game is about to start! Get over here!"

Zetsu's face was deathly pale (due to being a corpse), and he emitted a faint aura of a Cursed Spirit.

The Kyoto students frowned as they scrutinized him.

They spent their lives exorcising Curses. Being forced to accept one as an ally... was hard to swallow.

"Sorry I'm late!"

Just as Zetsu joined the group, Gojo Satoru's loud voice rang out.

He was wheeling a large metal box.

"Hey!"

"Nobara! Megumi! White Zetsu!"

The box burst open.

Yuji Itadori jumped out, greeting them with a broad smile.

"OPPAI!" (Surprise!)

White Zetsu paused. He blinked, stunned (acting).

"Pink Gorilla?!"

"Didn't you hang up?!"

A deep sense of apology appeared on Yuji's face. "Sorry, Zetsu. I had to keep it from you for so long."

Watching Yuji talk to the stunned Tokyo students, Mirai frowned slightly.

He wasn't surprised Yuji was alive.

Nobara and Megumi weren't surprised (they knew).

But Yuji's entrance was... loud.

These were minor issues.

Mirai turned his head to look at the steps.

Standing next to Principal Yaga was Yoshinobu Gakuganji, the Principal of Kyoto High.

He leaned on a wooden cane, looking like a frail old man who could die at any moment.

Gakuganji saw that Yuji Itadori—the vessel he ordered dead—was still alive.

But he was... too peaceful.

Butterfly Effect?

Or has something else happened in secret that I am unaware of?

Mirai remained calm, but silently analyzed the situation.

"Hello," Maki looked at Gojo. "Since Itadori is still alive, does that mean White Zetsu doesn't need to participate?"

Everyone thought Yuji was dead, so Zetsu made the numbers even (6 vs 6). Now Tokyo had 7.

With his hands in his pockets, Gojo smiled. "White Zetsu, what do you say?"

Upon hearing this, Zetsu—who was busy performing a 'touching reunion' scene—immediately turned his head, dissatisfied.

"I've been training hard for so long!"

"Canceling it like that? Isn't that a slap in the face to Master Zetsu?!"

Gojo smiled and looked at Mirai. "Fake Smile, what about you? Any suggestions?"

Mirai smiled gently. "Anything is fine, as long as it's Gojo-sensei who chooses."

(He didn't force Zetsu. There was more than one way to set up the barrier).

"Then let White Zetsu participate," Gojo decided.

He looked at Utahime and the Kyoto students. "Everyone from Kyoto, no objections, right?"

Noritoshi Kamo shook his head.

"Tokyo sent so many first-years... adding one more isn't entirely unfair."

A Grade 4 Cursed Spirit... It can be dealt with in a single slap. It doesn't matter.

No one in Kyoto cared.

"Neither side has any objections," Principal Yaga announced.

"A two-day Sister School Exchange Event between Tokyo and Kyoto..."

"Day 1: Team Battle! Cursed Spirit Extermination Race!"

"START!"
