Chapter 41 - Chapter 38: The Yakuza and the Country Girl

Harajuku Station, Tokyo.

Orange eyes. Short orange hair.

She wore the Jujutsu High uniform, customized with a dark blue coat and pleated skirt.

Nobara Kugisaki. The last of the first-years.

She looked at the two boys standing opposite her. One looked dull (Yuji). The other looked indifferent (Megumi).

With one hand on her hip, Kugisaki introduced herself.

"Rejoice, boys. The rose is here!"

"I'm Nobara Kugisaki."

Itadori pointed to himself, grinning. "I'm Itadori Yuji, from Sendai."

Fushiguro looked bored. "Fushiguro Megumi."

...

Roppongi, Tokyo.

An abandoned building next to a large cemetery.

A black sedan was parked on the street.

In the driver's seat sat Kiyotaka Ijichi, the Assistant Director, looking stressed.

In the back seat sat White Zetsu. He was puffing on a thick cigar, checking the time on his phone.

"What's taking that white-haired guy so long?" Zetsu exhaled a cloud of smoke. "Picking up one girl takes forever."

"White Zetsu-san," Ijichi pushed up his glasses. "It's not good to talk about your teacher behind his back."

"Tch." Zetsu waved his hand. "Relax, Ijichi. That idiot won't teleport here suddenly. What are you afraid of?"

Ijichi checked the rearview mirror, the side mirrors, and the windshield.

Confirming Gojo Satoru wasn't there, he sighed in relief.

"You better watch out," Ijichi whispered. "Gojo-san's anger is terrifying."

Zetsu took another drag of the cigar. His Clown-scarred face looked genuinely menacing in the smoke.

"Don't worry. I've got your back. We're partners in crime."

"Hehe..." Ijichi laughed awkwardly.

Partners? I'm just the driver.

And you're a Cursed Spirit smoking a cigar in my backseat.

Suddenly, a commotion erupted down the street.

...

The Arrival.

"YOU BIG LIAR!!"

Nobara screamed at Gojo Satoru. "You said we were going to Roppongi! Where are the malls?! Where is the nightlife?!"

She pointed at the dilapidated building oozing Cursed Energy.

"This is a dump!"

"Damn it!" Yuji fell to his knees. "My Chinatown feast! My steak! You heartless, deceitful teacher!"

Fushiguro sighed. 'I knew it. Gojo-sensei never does anything normal.'

"Hey. Pink Gorilla. Delinquent Girl."

A car door opened. Billowing white smoke rolled out.

An arrogant, raspy voice echoed from the fog.

"Satoru. You're late."

Nobara frowned. "What the hell? Is the car on fire?"

Yuji sniffed the air. "Wait... that voice... Clown Face?"

Gojo smiled, hands in his pockets. He stepped back to watch the show.

The smoke cleared.

Leaning against the black sedan was a humanoid figure in a red-cloud black cloak.

Chalk-white skin. Green hair. Serrated teeth.

He held a cigar in his left hand. A pink revolver was tucked into his belt.

Nobara's eyes widened. She gripped her hammer.

"An entrance exam?!"

A Cursed Spirit. Humanoid. Intelligent.

It looks dangerous.

"Die!"

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

Nobara fired three Cursed Energy-infused nails. They flew like bullets.

But when they hit Zetsu's cloak, sparks flew. The nails bounced off harmlessly.

Juzo Kumiya's Masterpiece: A cloak that defends against Grade 2 attacks.

"Heh."

Zetsu flicked the ash from his cigar.

"A mere Grade 3 Sorcerer dares to challenge me? You've got guts, kid. But no brains."

"WHAT?!"

Nobara's vein popped. "This thing talks?! And it has a foul mouth!"

"Big city spirits really are different!"

She reached into her pouch, grabbing a handful of nails. Her Cursed Energy flared.

"Straw Doll Technique..."

"WAIT! Nobara-chan!"

Yuji tackled her, pinning her arms.

"Let me go!" Nobara screamed, kicking. "It's a Curse! Get off me, Pinky!"

"He is a Curse! But he's also a student!" Yuji yelled. "Don't kill him!"

Nobara froze. She looked at Fushiguro.

Fushiguro nodded wearily.

"HA?!"

Nobara roared. "You're telling me... this gangster-looking thing... IS A STUDENT?!"

...

"That's right."

Zetsu walked over, exhaling smoke. He struck a pose.

"To protect the world from devastation..."

"To unite all peoples within our nation..."

"STOP!"

Yuji jumped up, covering Zetsu's mouth. "Stop! You'll get sued for plagiarism!"

Zetsu blinked. He removed Yuji's hand.

"Tch. Copyright laws are a pain."

"But," Zetsu grinned. "Pink Gorilla. You recognized the reference. You have good taste."

Yuji scratched his head. "I watch a lot of TV."

"I approve!"

Zetsu pulled a fresh cigar from his pocket and handed it to Yuji.

"Here. A token of respect from your Senior."

Yuji waved his hands. "Ah, no thanks! I don't smoke! I'm underage!"

"Take it!" Zetsu shoved it into Yuji's pocket. "In the game, you never refuse a gift from the Boss! It's about respect!"

Gojo walked over, fanning the smoke away.

"Ijichi," Gojo asked. "What movies has he been watching lately?"

Ijichi sighed. "Yakuza films. Spaghetti Westerns. And The Godfather."

"I see," Gojo laughed. "That explains the cigar and the attitude."

He looked at the chaotic group.

Nobara was yelling at Fushiguro. Yuji was trying to return the cigar to Zetsu. Zetsu was posing like a mob boss.

Gojo smiled.

They remind me of the second-years.

"Alright, kids!" Gojo clapped his hands. "Enough bonding! Time for your field test!"
