Chapter 28 - Chapter 26: The Husk and the Infinite

Inside the Domain: Unlimited Void.

The realm was boundless emptiness.

From the outside, it was a black sphere. Inside, it was a universe of white light and chaotic data.

Perception. Communication. Life. Death.

An infinite stream of information flooded into Mirai's brain.

Normally, this would fry a sorcerer's mind in 0.2 seconds.

Even Gojo Satoru, the caster, didn't think anyone could withstand a full minute.

The Plan:

According to their Binding Vow, Gojo had to guarantee Mirai's safety. His plan was to touch Mirai every 10 seconds to pause the effect, letting him catch his breath, then release him to continue the "experience" until the minute was up.

Five seconds passed.

Gojo floated forward, his Six Eyes analyzing Mirai with intense curiosity.

Let's see what those eyes are made of, Gojo thought.

He reached out to touch Mirai's shoulder, preparing to save him from brain death.

But then...

Mirai's lips curled into a smile.

Gojo froze.

He's... smiling?

...

It worked.

The moment the Domain expanded, Mirai activated his Mangekyō Sharingan and opened a mental link to the Kamui Dimension.

He channeled the flood of information directly into the Gedo Mazo.

The Gedo Mazo—the husk of the Ten-Tails—possessed infinite Cursed Energy but zero intelligence. It was a brainless machine.

Just as a hacker can't crash a computer that isn't turned on, Unlimited Void couldn't overload a mind that didn't exist.

The Statue absorbed the infinite data like a black hole absorbing light. It felt nothing. It understood nothing. It simply existed.

Mirai acted as the conduit. The information passed through him and into the Statue, leaving his own mind clear.

"Mr. Gojo," Mirai said, tilting his head. "I don't need your help."

Gojo's eyes widened behind his blindfold.

He's conscious? How?

Gojo reached out and touched Mirai's shoulder.

Solid.

The "Sure-Hit" effect of the Domain was active. Mirai's Kamui Intangibility was bypassed. His body was physically there.

So why isn't his brain melting?

Smack!

Mirai slapped Gojo's hand away. He looked annoyed.

"Teacher Gojo. Please maintain the Domain properly. We have a contract."

Gojo stepped back, rubbing his hand. A rare look of confusion crossed his face.

He's using me, Gojo realized. He's not just experiencing it. He's farming it.

...

Mirai closed his eyes again.

He had four objectives for entering this Domain.

Test the Gedo Mazo's capacity: Success. It could tank the Infinite void.

Adaptation: In the shadows of his soul, a golden wheel spun.

Click.

Mahoraga was analyzing the concept of Infinity. With every second Mirai spent in the Void, the Divine General moved closer to adapting to Gojo's technique.

Evolution of the Eyes: The pressure was forcing his Sharingan to mature.

Understanding Cursed Energy: The Void revealed the core of the universe.

Thirty seconds passed.

Forty seconds.

Fifty seconds.

Click.

The wheel spun again.

...

Outside the Domain.

"What on earth happened?!"

Masamichi Yaga stared at the black sphere floating above the ruins of the faculty dorm.

Maki, Panda, and Inumaki arrived, breathless. Mei Mei appeared behind them, holding her axe.

"That's Gojo's Domain," Yaga shouted, sweat beading on his forehead. "If Zenin-sensei is inside... he's dead."

"Mei Mei! Panda! Get ready to break the barrier from the outside!"

"Concentrate your attacks! NOW!"

Yaga raised his fist, charging Cursed Energy. He knew it was futile to break a Domain from the outside, but he had to try. If Gojo killed the Zenin Head, it was war.

"THREE! TWO! ONE!"

SNAP!

Before they could strike, the black sphere shattered like glass.

The shards of Cursed Energy dissolved into the air.

In the center of the ruins, Mirai knelt on one knee, panting heavily. Sweat dripped from his chin.

Gojo Satoru stood opposite him, looking deep in thought, his blindfold hanging around his neck.

"Brother Mirai!" Maki screamed, rushing to him.

She helped him up. Mirai leaned on her, looking exhausted.

"I'm fine," Mirai whispered, wiping his face. "Don't worry."

He looked at Gojo. A tired but genuine smile appeared on his face.

"Thank you, Satoru. That was... enlightening."

Objective 2: Mahoraga's Adaptation... 30% Complete.
