Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Night of Fate

"Young lady, it's not a good thing to be wandering the streets so late~"

A somewhat familiar voice made Akatsuki frown. Before she could speak, a yellow-haired man had already walked up to her, with two other men standing not far behind him.

"Hey, hey, hey, what's with the silence? Are you scared?"

Akatsuki didn't waste words on them and punched the yellow-haired man directly in the face. She used plenty of force; the sound of bone breaking echoed through the empty street.

Seeing the yellow-haired man get hit, the other two rolled up their sleeves. Akatsuki rolled her eyes. She had taught them a lesson just last night; why did she run into these three thugs again today? Was the lesson not enough?

"Forget it, I'll just consider it a pre-meal workout."

Just as she was preparing to give the other two a lesson they would never forget, a red-haired youth with bloodstains on his school uniform, the hero of justice Shirou Emiya, rushed between them and spread his arms, looking at the other two men angrily.

"What kind of skill is it for two grown men to bully a girl!"

Akatsuki:?

The other two:?

The two men watched the yellow-haired man on the ground, their mouths twitching. Only then did they remember they were supposed to be thugs harassing a beauty. Akatsuki's strike had been so fast and heavy that it gave them the illusion that they were the victims.

They looked at the dangerous-looking Akatsuki, then at the bloodstains on Shirou Emiya's school uniform, and couldn't help but take a step back.

"Remember this!"

After leaving behind a classic line of a minor villain, they supported the unconscious yellow-haired man and quickly fled the scene.

"Are you okay?"

Once the two had completely walked away, Shirou Emiya turned back and smiled at Akatsuki. But the moment he saw her, he froze. She was too beautiful, with an appearance that didn't seem like it should exist in this world.

Akatsuki could understand Shirou Emiya's reaction. After all, everything about this body was based on the 'King of the Moon,' and she also possessed an appearance eighty to ninety percent similar to Arcueid.

"I'm fine, but you—with so many bloodstains on you, is your body okay?"

Akatsuki hadn't expected to run into Shirou Emiya, especially one who had just been saved by Tohsaka Rin. But then again, to dare to play the hero saving the hero when he could barely stand after being revived—he truly was the hero of justice.

Or could it be that after this guy obtained the magical energy from the Red Stone of Aja, he also evolved into an Ultimate Being? Then his future self might truly reside in outer space.

"No, it should be fine. Fuyuki City hasn't been peaceful lately, so it's best not to come out at night."

"Thank you for the reminder, I'll be careful," Akatsuki said with a smile, dispersing the strange thoughts in her mind. Internally, however, she wondered if delaying Shirou Emiya's return home would cause Big Dog to attack him before he reached home. What would happen if he couldn't summon My King then?

After all, she was quite looking forward to meeting the King of Knights.

Shirou Emiya scratched his head, feeling a bit embarrassed. "Um, if you don't have anything else, you should head home early."

Akatsuki nodded. "True, it is quite late. Then Classmate Emiya, you stay safe too."

After saying that, Akatsuki didn't linger and turned to leave.

It wasn't until Shirou Emiya could no longer see Akatsuki's back that he realized he had never told her his name. So how did she know his surname was 'Emiya'?

"Strange..."

Too many strange things had happened today. Shirou Emiya didn't dare stay outside any longer and walked straight toward his home.

His mind was still replaying everything that had happened at school not long ago.

On the other side.

"What exactly is going on..."

"What do you mean 'what's going on'?"

"I just feel like I've seen that Young lady somewhere before..."

"Instead of that, let's hurry up and get Big Brother to the hospital."

The two thugs carried the yellow-haired man, whose skull had been shattered by Akatsuki's punch, and quickened their pace toward the hospital. However, as they ran around a corner, they bumped into a man.

"What's wrong? Do you need help?"

A magnetic voice came from the mouth of the man dressed in priest's clothing. He helped the fallen thug up and was just about to continue when he saw the dying yellow-haired man on the ground.

"I didn't expect us to meet again so soon."

"Hey, you priest from wherever, get out of the way! This is a matter of life and death. Can a pauper like you, who looks like he isn't worth a few tens of thousands of yen, afford to pay for this!"

Facing the man's low-level threat, a smile curled at the corner of Kirei Kotomine's mouth. He didn't mind the man's reprimand, instead saying exceptionally gently: "Forget what happened tonight. He just took a fall. Hurry up and take him to the hospital."

After hearing Kirei Kotomine's words, the two men's eyes became somewhat glazed. The events that had just occurred in their minds seemed to be covered by a thin layer of mist.

Watching the two leave with the yellow-haired man, Kirei Kotomine recalled the scene he saw in Fuyuki Park last night. That was quite an interesting sight.

"Beyond that, the news of the Matou Family being wiped out is truly shocking. To think someone couldn't wait to act even before the Holy Grail War has begun."

The news of the Matou Residence being razed to the ground had spread quickly. Not just in the mage world, but many rumors were circulating among ordinary people as well. Kirei Kotomine had been busy until midnight just to confirm the destruction of the Matou Family and to cover up the mystical elements involved.

Casting his gaze toward the distant Emiya Residence, there was now only one Master position left, and only Saber remained for the Servant positions. If the last Master was his successor, and Saber was the same as last time, then this must be fate!

"Time to return to the church. Speaking of which, the batteries in the church seem to be running low. I should go to the orphanage and grab some more when I have time."

After muttering to himself, Kirei Kotomine had to walk toward the Fuyuki Church. From his back, he looked exactly like a corporate slave forced to work overtime late into the night.

Emiya Residence.

"You are the seventh Master?!"

Saber's sword forced Lancer to retreat from the cramped shed. Faced with the fact that the student before him was the final Master, Lancer had to admit he had misjudged him.

His own Master had only told him to observe the other Masters and Servants, but this sudden turn of events had caught him off guard.

After all, the opponent was Saber, the head of the three knight classes. He had originally planned to use a Noble Phantasm to intimidate the opponent before retreating, but the True Ancestor who had been watching from not far away made him abandon that idea.
