Chapter 31 - Leaving Hope Station

Even at night, Hope Station kept its dim, hazy lights just like during the day, and there were still people constantly patrolling to guard against anything unusual appearing. For example, a group of zombies suddenly approaching from another direction, theft, or simply some unforeseen chaos.

Dyan and Louis rested right beneath the lights. Dyan spread a layer of cardboard on the ground and promptly fell into a deep sleep. Just then, the person inside the tent seemed to sense something…

Louis' eyes flew open, a faint glint of red flashing through his pitch-black pupils. Because of the Blood Contract, Louis could sense Varkas raging in frustration—pain, and then even more anger that had no outlet. Varkas truly had a terrible temper, but this time he had lost to someone else; aside from being angry, there was nothing he could do. So hidden within that anger was helplessness and a trace of grievance, an emotion that Louis would not have noticed had he not deliberately tried to feel it.
