Chapter 36 - The Archon Academy

"Tell me more about this competition." Raiden immediately sat back down.

"What's the point? I mean, it's not like you can win it or something." Yuna fired back, seeing his enthusiasm.

"Don't worry about it. Just tell me, what is this competition about?" Raiden questioned directly.

"Fine, amuse yourself." Yuna gave a resigned sigh before speaking.

"This is an Inter School Competition for recent graduates, which means anyone who graduated in the past month can participate in it. It will have schools and participants from all over the state. That means you will not only be competing with people from our school, but everyone in the whole state. Frankly, you don't have a chance at all."

Raiden fell into thought. It sounded much harder than he thought it would be. But he still had a decent chance of winning it, with Woolie by his side. Not to mention, he had the system too.

"And the prizes?"

"You are still thinking about winning and prizes after what I told you?" Yuna asked in disbelief. But looking at Raiden's adamant face that wouldn't take a no for an answer, she felt resigned.

"Fine, there are 3 tiers of prizes. All the contestants in the top 16 get money, 500K Credits to be exact. Top 8, you get 1 Million Credits as well as a chance to get into Archon Academy. You do know about Archon Academy, don't you?"

"Of course I know. Archon Academy is the best university in the world. Any and all graduates there end up becoming a major figure, and their lowest graduate requirements are Platinum Battle Masters." Raiden fired off.

This was common knowledge, and as well as dream of many students and parents. Your future is set once you get into the Academy, making you a brilliant star among your peers.

"Good, at least you know something." Yuna nodded, seemingly proud.

"But even getting into the top 8 doesn't guarantee you an admission? How hard is it?" Raiden asked, confused. Since he never wanted to get into one, he never researched about it.

"Do you know how many people live in our federation?" Instead of answering his question, Yuna fired back a question of her own.

"Umm... Around 20 Billion??"

"Its 27.84 Billion people. Out of those, around 7 Billion people are eligible for university, that is, under the age of 21. And out of those, only around 5 Billion appear in university exams every year. And do you know how many new admissions Archon Academy takes every year? It's only about..."

Yuna took a pause for dramatic effect.

"...100. They only accept about 100 people every year. This top 8 qualification? It doesn't guarantee you an admission spot; it merely gives you the qualification to skip directly to the second round, which still has 10 Million people. There are 8 more rounds after that."

Raiden was floored hearing the absurd numbers. What Billions and Millions, he wasn't even sure if the university was taking in students or gods. The requirements were too strict.

Yuna felt a strange satisfaction after seeing the shock on his face. She felt he looked down on her somehow, but didn't care much about it. But it still felt good to see him shocked. But she wasn't done yet.

"Hey, you, do you know where I graduated from?" Yuna spoke haughtily.

"Where from?" Raiden asked instinctively, still reeling in shock after hearing the numbers.

"Ahem, Ahem... I actually graduated from Archon Academy!!" Yuna put her hands on her hips and started looking at a 45-degree angle, waiting for the shower of compliments to come her way. But even after waiting for a while, she got nothing.

She looked at the brat angrily, only to find a look of disbelief on his face. His eyes were practically screaming, 'I don't believe you.'

"What's with that look, brat?! You don't believe me?!!"

Raiden snapped out of his daydreams, waving his hands defensively. "No, no no. Miss Yuna, you got it wrong. Of course, I believe in you. It's just that you are working here instead of frontlines..." Raiden trailed off.

A flush appeared on Yuna's face after hearing his words.

"Of course I know that!! You think I want to work in this stinky garbage of school with plebs like you?! It's just my stupid father who made me... Anyways, enough about that. Just know that I really graduated from school, see?!"

She put a phone up to his face, showing him pictures of her standing in front of a signboard saying Archon Academy in a graduation uniform, as well as pictures of her diploma that certified she, in fact, did graduate from Archon Academy.

After a lot of disbelief, Raiden finally believed in her. This explained so many things, and why even the principal was afraid of her.

"Anyways, let me continue telling you about the competition, so you can give up on your delusions sooner."

"The rewards for Top 4 are skipping two rounds of tests for Archon Academy as well as 1.5 Million Credits."

"The rewards for Top 2 are 2 Million Credits, as well as skipping 3 rounds of testing for Archon Academy."

"What about the winner?" Raiden asked.

"The winner prize is the grandest. The winner gets to skip 6 rounds of tests, as well as 5 Million Credits. But most important of all, he gets to pick his second beast egg from the Egg Compendium of Alliance." Yuna finished explaining.

"Umm... What exactly is that Egg Compendium Thingy?" Raiden asked nervously. He didn't want to piss her off too much by his questioning. This was the case even more after he found out she graduated from Archon Academy.

Whatever connections he had it was nothing in front of a graduate from Archon Academy. Even the city Alliance head spoke to her respectfully. That's how much respect a graduate commanded.

"Seriously? You don't even know about that? Egg Compendium of Alliance is a special place that stores eggs of Beasts that are Diamond Tier to Mythical Tier. Any one of them can be sold for Billions, but you can't buy something like that money, only connections."

Hearing this, Raiden's eyes started shining like stars. A Billion Credits Egg!! With that much money, he can easily pay off all his debt!! As for using it, what a joke. He was worried he would be killed the second he stepped out with so much money.

While Raiden leaned forward, hanging on every word, Woolie, who had long since stopped listening, was peacefully napping on Raiden's lap. Some of them had different priorities.

"Please, Ma'am, I really want to sign up! Consider it as gaining experience about the world!!" Raiden clasped both his hands while requesting, no, praying towards Yuna.

"Haa?! You know what, Fine!! On behalf of Sylvia, I'll put your name in. Show up on the 1st of November here for prelims."

With a sigh, Yuna put in his name in the sheet.

"1st November, huh. Got it, thank you, Miss Yuna!!"

"Woolie~" ヾ(≧ω≦)〃

"Yeah, yeah, now shoo, don't waste my time!!"

After thanking her once again, Raiden left, all geared up to win the competition.
