Whilst his father and sister cleaned up and readied themselves for their outing, Kai stepped outside.

With their meagre household budget, the opportunities they had to go out as a family, even to the small restaurant in town or the quiet tavern two streets away, were few and far between.

And so, Kai knew that they would take their time getting ready and choosing their best clothes, even for the mid market restaurant that would be filled with patrons in far more casual attire.

Kaius himself was wearing his only pair of dark, unblemished trousers that he had intentionally never worn outside of the city walls, and a faux silk shirt that could almost pass for the real thing; the front tucked in and the collar complete with a few wide, simple ruffles.

He had left it unbuttoned at the top to appear more casual, but even Kai knew that they would all look far too over-dressed for a simple tavern meal.

None of them cared, however.

After all, where else could Aida wear one of the few dresses she owned? Or his father to wash the food stains out of his hands and spend the night allowing others to serve him for once?

Yet, despite his upbeat and otherwise jovial mood, he made his way over to the garage extension that served as Rami's makeshift home, with nervous trepidation pulling at his feet. He felt as though he had to force them to move his body forward with far more effort than usual.

Repressing a sigh, he raised his hand to knock against the side of the metal sheeting which propped up the heavy curtains that acted as his door, spying soft yellow light from a few oil lamps, spilling out from beneath them.

But before he could knock, Kai stilled with his hand in the air.

A low, deep moan came from behind the curtains, freezing him in place.

He had heard a sound like that coming from the same place in his last life. Had he worked that fast? Had Genevieve gone to him straight after Kai had pushed her out?

He wanted to tear the curtains apart and storm into the room, but he held himself back, carefully pulling back the fabric to peer inside.

Kai's hazel eyes widened, clapping a hand over his mouth to stifle the quiet gasp that almost slipped out of him.

Rameses wasn't with Genevieve at all, he wasn't with any woman. He was entirely alone.

Alone and naked, his tanned skin and firm muscles on clear display atop the single bed against the wall, furthest from the entrance.

And there was something else on clear display. Something long and almost as thick as Kai's forearm, hard and slick with the perfumed oil from a small pourer on the metal unit beside his bed.

His large hand ran up and down the length of his cock with firm, slow strokes and just as Kai heard before, a low moan escaped his lips; his eyes screwed shut as though he were pained by his own torturously restrained movements.

Kai was unable to tear his eyes away, rooted in place with his gaze fixed firmly on every pump of his hand; the veins that pressed taught along his forearm, the way his abs flexed with every ragged breath.

Kai's heart began to race and his mouth ran dry.

'Gods, what am I doing? And I called him a pervert! I need to leave, this is so wrong.'

He shook himself internally and made to tiptoe back away from the entrance to Rami's living space.

Yet just as he tried to move, another sound met his ears.

A deep, husky voice, thick with lust that whispered: "...Kai...fuuuuck. Kai..."

Kai's mouth fell open, 'Holy shit.'

As soon as his name had passed Rami's full lips, his hand sped up, his other reaching behind him to grip the mattress and his breathing grew heavier.

He moaned again, whispering his name over and over, like a prayer.

Kai felt the blood rush to his groin, suddenly painfully hard and aching to be touched.

But he gripped tighter to the curtain and pressed his knees together to stop his weakening legs from shaking.

Rameses turned his head and bit down hard on his own arm when his body tensed, muffling his voice. And Kai watched, transfixed when he spilled out over his abs in long thick streams until he was shuddering on top of the sheets, his skin glistening with a thin layer of sweat and his own fluids.

Kai finally tore his eyes away, stumbling back blindly, his face flushed and his body shaking with restraint.

'Gods...fuck...what was that? Why did he say my name like that? What the fuck is this?'

His mind whirred in confusion as he gripped the wall beside the door, gulping down mouthfuls of cool, night air to calm himself down before entering.

But even so, as soon as he stepped inside, there was clearly something in his face that alerted both his father and sister.

His father cocked his head to the side, "Kai? What's wrong, is Rami coming?"

His face turned a sudden violent shade of red, ducking it out of sight as he raced up the stairs, "He was busy! I'll knock later!" He called back, his voice high and panicked.

"Why are your ears so red?" His sister asked, with a deadpan expression; a bright pink ribbon holding up her long, brown hair and sporting a simple, deep maroon dress with a spotless, white sash, edged with lace, tied around her waist.

"Shut up!" Kai retorted, a hysterical edge to his tone that he had been unable to cover.

His father looked down at Aida, frowning in bemusement and they shrugged at each other in unison.

An hour later after splashing his face with handful after handful of ice cold water, Kai was sitting at a low, wooden table in a dimly lit restaurant, directly across from the man who had just been moaning his name.

And for some reason, that very same man had been shooting him oddly suspicious and dark glances from the moment that he'd returned to invite him for dinner; allowing him a full twenty minutes to make himself presentable and jolting in shock when Rameses had simply glared at him like a stranger.

'Stupid, perverted arsehole. Why is he looking at me like that? I'm not the one who was jerking off to his best friend. This is every level of fucked.'

His eyes dipped down to the rolled up sleeves of Rami's crisp dark shirt and he spied a fading red mark.

He knew exactly what had caused that mark, the image of him biting down on his arm to hold back his muffled cries immediately assaulting his mind.

Kai felt heat rush to his ears again.

Luckily, Rameses was distracted at that moment, playing a silly game with Aida where they would pick out random patrons from the crowd and create increasingly imaginative and far-fetched backstories for each of them.

He brought himself under control, focusing on Aida's grand tale of a young woman sitting at the bar, who had supposedly fled from a country on the other side of their world after her wicked stepfather had tried to marry her off to an evil prince with a penchant for starting fires.

Rameses nodded along, sometimes adding additional details to spur her on and Kai felt his heart warm at the natural smile that crept onto her face.

His father's boisterous and infectious laughter as well as Rami's stoic and serious additions to the increasingly silly tale, helped to bring the racing in his chest under control by the time their food arrived.

That was until after flicking his eyes up and down Kai's figure, shooting him another suspicious glare, Rami had attempted to pass him a bowl of potatoes.

Kai had gritted his teeth, glaring back.

But just as he made to snatch the bowl from him, his fingers brushed against his right hand.

The same hand that had just been wrapped around all nine inches of his thick, throbbing -

"Ah! Shit!" Kai cursed loudly, when the bowl slipped out of his grip, spilling the herb buttered potatoes over the wooden surface.

He hurriedly attempted to scoop them back into the bowl before they rolled off the table completely, the pretty, female server immediately flitting over to his side of the table to assist.

His father shot him a look of concern at his nervous twitching, but Kai was unable to notice.

He was flushed and babbling when she left, stumbling over a swift apology and wishing desperately that the jug in front of them had been filled with wine instead of water, when a deep husky voice cut across his internal ramblings.

"Are you alright? You seem a little worked up, Kaius." Rami asked, his head leaning against his hand in a lazy gesture, his dark hair falling softly into his eyes.

Kai caught the way that his name had been uttered, like it was a fallacy. Like Kai was some kind of imposter.

His head snapped up to meet those piercing, silvery blue eyes and a shudder ran down his spine at the rare, leering grin on his full lips.

His stomach flipped and before he could stop it, an errant thought flitted across his mind:

'Next time I want you to know that I'm watching. Let's see you smirk at me then.'
