Chapter 5 - I trainy, I eaty, and I sleepy

Six days later, I was back in the ring, but this time I was betting metal coins we received every week. The higher your rank, the more you got. At that moment, I was ranked 767. Since my fight with Culer, I had fought seven times.

Culer had an older brother in his third year named Caral. He saw what happened to his brother and said that when I entered the second floor, he would break my arms and legs the same way I did to Culer. I just looked at him and said, "I can't wait to beat an idiot like you." I tried to get under his skin, but he seemed like a smarter guy.

It didn't matter. Once I found a way to provoke him properly, the fight would be won before it even started. Still, he was much stronger than Culer, probably around 20% stronger than me. But that was for later. For now, I focused on the fight in front of me.

I was fighting a Saiyan whose tail had been half cut off in his first arena fight. His name was Viler, and he was very skinny, even for a Saiyan kid. You might wonder why I challenged him. It was because I learned that we received a weekly allowance. It wasn't much, only about seven metal coins, which you could either bet or use to buy things like one day in a healing pod for one coin.

Viler had been in the camp for twenty-two weeks and probably had more coins, but I couldn't demand a big bet from him. So I decided to start small with seven coins and slowly build my capital. I didn't bother learning the prices of other things in the shops. Training from elite Saiyans was useless to me, and techniques were obviously expensive. As for other things, there were courses in the camp where you could learn skills like flying. I planned to attend those until I mastered them, but after that, they would become pointless.

Back to the fight.

Viler was strong, roughly on my level in power, but his body was built differently. He focused more on endurance, which was good for stamina but bad for strength and muscle. That gave me an advantage. I began using my tail for many tricks I had learned in previous fights and experimented with new ideas I came up with during meditation, like poking his eyes or using my tail to redirect his punches like a rope.

All of this was possible because we were trained to constantly grab our tails to remove the weakness. I had completely overcome that weakness. What I discovered was that my tail was unusually long for my body size. I was around one meter tall for my age, which was already tall, and my tail was about seventy-five centimeters long, nearly seventy-five percent of my height.

I started experimenting with different techniques and quickly realized how useful tails really were. Blocking with it hurt a lot at first, but over time the pain became tolerable. When Viler threw a punch at my ribs, I blocked it with my tail. The punch slipped off, and he lost his balance.

I countered with a one-two punch combination while jumping toward him. Both hits landed on his face and dealt solid damage, making him wobble. I followed up with a flying knee, launching myself off the ground as hard as I could. When I reached him, he tried to block with his arms, but I used my tail to push myself off them and adjust my position. His hands flew into the air, leaving his torso exposed.

I took the opening and kicked him in the liver. He was sent flying off the platform and landed on his back, blood bursting from his mouth and nose.

I didn't enjoy this fight very much because Viler was a laid-back guy. Even when I taunted him, he didn't respond. He just said, "Let's enjoy our fight." Because of that, I didn't torture him like I did with Culer. I ended the fight quickly and avoided causing unnecessary injuries.

Afterward, I went to the desk where Pasla stood. He said, "Another nice victory. You're getting better and better at using that tail. I've never seen anyone fight like that before. It seems like a very powerful style."

I didn't want to talk about my fighting style, so I changed the topic. "Enough of that. Just give me my reward."

He pulled out around fourteen metal coins, each about the size of my hand, and handed them to me.

"Thanks, Deskman," I said.

He looked at me angrily. "IT'S PASLA, YOU DAMN KID."

I laughed to myself but didn't let it show. I turned my back and left.

When I returned to my room, which was twenty-three levels above my previous one, I immediately noticed how much better it was. The space was larger, the walls were soundproof, and there was enough room to place weights and bars for training. But what I liked the most was the bed. It was much softer than anything I had ever slept on on this planet.

With the planet's gravity pressing you into the mattress, it was almost impossible to leave the bed. I slept around ten hours a day, even though meditation allowed me to function on eight. But no one could blame me. I trainy , I eaty, and I sleepy. Why wouldn't I enjoy it to the fullest?

I started training by putting weights on myself and doing push-ups and pull-ups. After that, I stretched, which was very important. Then I went to the bathroom and washed myself with water, cleaning off all the dirt from fighting and training.

When I left the bathroom, I started eating the food that was delivered daily along with the food bars I had saved. I didn't eat many food bars, only about three per day or one per meal. I had saved roughly 180 when I came to the camp. In these seven days, I had eaten 21, so they should last me another fifty-three days.

As for the daily food deliveries, it was some kind of third-level meat, which wasn't good. I didn't know how to properly compare it to food bars, so I ate both for maximum nutrients. Meat was divided into three levels. Third-level meat was the lowest quality, comparable to ultra-processed meat from my last life. Second-level meat was normal but didn't come from strong animals, more like sheep from my previous world with very little ki.

The highest quality meat was Xarer. That dinosaur had an average ki level of 700 when fully grown but was unable to fire ki beams. Because of that, it was easy to raise and breed.
