Chapter 53 - Chapter 53: Sure Hit Throw

Nagayama Keiichiro hid behind the wall, panting.

After deploying his mystery, that powerful force became a burden on his body, constantly pressing down on him.

'Sure Hit Throw', his trump card.

Even counting all the Ritualists in the special services department, his physical fitness, fighting skills, and ritual abilities could rank in the top five.

The critical issue was that to use Sure Hit Throw, he had to be hit three times.

Being hit... Nagayama Keiichiro quietly reached out a hand past the wall—the two opposing sides suddenly made their move!

Bang!

A massive tongue darted out from the distance, striking like lightning!

It smashed through the wall, broken gravel and dust blocking the view. In the dust-filled air, three gunshots fired back in the direction of the tongue!

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The muzzle, emitting a thin wisp of smoke, lowered toward the ground.

Nagayama Keiichiro raised his hand expressionlessly—his left hand, used as a probe, had been scratched.

The first time.

Red blood dripped from Nagayama Keiichiro's fingertips onto the floor. He arched his body, staring toward the kitchen opposite him.

If it's from here... "order doggy, hide well, I'm coming to find you!"

The Boy's words suddenly rang out, followed by a heavy and massive jumping sound. Nagayama Keiichiro did not hesitate, rolling on the spot to leave his position.

The next moment, a mutant hybrid of a human and a frog crushed the thin wall!

It looked down at Nagayama Keiichiro, opening its mouth—which was filled with mucus and dense holes, with black bugs crawling out of every hole.

Bang!

Another shot. Nagayama Keiichiro quietly glanced at the Boy's position—he was blocking the main entrance.

He sidestepped to dodge the flying tongue, then used the cabinets and tables in the room as cover, stumbling into the kitchen.

Theoretically, Ritualists of the same level have the same degree of physical enhancement.

But at this moment, he had to face three monsters.

Nagayama Keiichiro raised his hand, the back of it wiping away the scratch on his cheek made by the tongue.

The second time.

Under the intense movement and the blessing of mystery, this man was beginning to tire.

He only had one strike; he had to hit that Boy while also dealing with those two Chaos Creations.

Nagayama Keiichiro calculated the monsters' movement trajectories and attack patterns. The one that had been protecting the Boy seemed to have the same attack style.

In that case... He raised his hand and fired two shots into the room, swapped in a new magazine, and with his other hand, pulled out a porcelain bowl from the kitchen to weigh it.

"Stop hiding, and become one with my parents. See, the more I eat, the stronger I become."

"Do you know, sir... the World is sinking!!"

"Hahahahaha! This is the price for abandoning me, I'll make everyone pay!!"

Nagayama Keiichiro tilted his head, calculating the time in his mind.

It's almost here, the support.

"When you threw yourself into Chaos, you were already dead. Da Yong, why do this? The people you killed were innocent, right? I don't think this is your first time doing this."

He was trying to stall for time.

"Of course." The Boy's voice was filled with smugness: "Chaos is what's great!"

"He saved me! And bestowed upon me incredibly powerful strength!"

"Chaos will gradually corrupt you. That is the real price." Nagayama Keiichiro had received excellent training; he naturally knew what the true price of Chaos was.

"Where did you get the ritual object?"

"Well... how could I tell you? I'm not going to reveal the secret just because you're about to die."

"Heehee, what a pity. Do you have anyone you care about? Did they abandon you?"

The Boy's words echoed in the hollow house. He didn't seem to care about Nagayama Keiichiro stalling for time. The power of Chaos filled the entire house; here, order did not function—Ritualists under order could not absorb mystery in a Chaos Domain to replenish their energy.

"You abandoned your partner. What was his name?"

Cruelty bled through the Boy's innocent words: "Look, how about I give you his last bit of cerebrospinal fluid? As a souvenir. Heehee, I'm being selfish. Because cerebrospinal fluid doesn't taste that good, it tastes salty and like rust. I still prefer eating the meat near the blood vessels and the heart, it's smooth and tender..."

"Why aren't you speaking?"

The Boy's voice suddenly drew near. The sound of his footsteps and the creaking of the floorboards warned Nagayama Keiichiro that danger was approaching and he could wait no longer.

"Because..."

The voice was barely audible.

The Boy tilted his ear, continuing forward.

Nagayama Keiichiro suddenly threw the porcelain bowl in his hand.

The next moment, porcelain shards flew as a tongue pierced through it!

Nagayama Keiichiro darted out from behind the wall, rushing straight for the monster attacking him, ignoring the Boy not far away and the other monster guarding him.

The tongue, with its intense corrosiveness and sharp barbs, failed to hit the man. He rolled and maneuvered skillfully, gradually closing in on the monster.

The muzzle spat fire, hitting the mutant and producing blooms of blood that didn't quite penetrate!

The room was filled with gunpowder smoke. The man crouched in the center, and directly facing him was that male mutant.

Behind him were the Boy and the other monster guarding him.

"Come on, let me see what you've got, you little bastard."

Nagayama Keiichiro beckoned to the monster in front of him. The next second, a tongue shot out from its mouth!

This time, the man didn't sidestep to dodge. Instead, following the direction of the tongue, he kicked off the ground and threw himself backward. The thick, crimson tongue flew right past his face!

A few drops of corrosive mucus landed on Nagayama Keiichiro's face, sizzling as they burned through his skin.

It was time.

The third time.

Gritting his teeth, he unclipped a grenade from his waist. With his eyes fixed only on the ceiling, he lay on the ground, raised his gun, and from a supine position, fired two shots into the male monster's eyes, the bullets piercing its brain.

Then, with his other hand, he casually tossed the grenade above his head.

Sure-hit Throw!

The grenade traced an upward arc, as if some force were guiding it, heading straight for the target.

BOOM——————!!

The massive explosion echoed through the house, blasting a hole through the entire roof!

With the explosion as the center, the air blast sent all surrounding objects flying!

Scattered wooden rafters and furniture toppled, dust filled the air, and glass shards mixed with various objects ricocheted everywhere inside the room.

The sounds of shattering, crashing, roaring, and cursing were incessant.

After a dozen seconds or so, the room gradually fell silent.

Until, in the space where even a pin drop could be heard, only Nagayama Keiichiro's heavy breathing remained.

He lay there in the corner, his clothes in tatters.

During the explosion, the tea table he had instinctively pulled over had shielded him from the blast and shrapnel; this tea table had saved his life.

He felt his abdomen and checked his arms and thighs.

His left leg and right humerus were suspected to be fractured, his outer shoulder had been pierced by glass, and no internal organ issues were found for now—he tried his best to stay conscious, propping himself up with his arms to sit upright against the wall, blood from his shoulder pooling on the floor.

"It's all over."

Nagayama Keiichiro sighed. In the room now, only he was left.

"Yoshino..."

He whispered his partner's name, his voice tinged with sadness.

Suddenly, the darkness before him was pulled away, and light shone in.

He raised his head.
