As Aurelian approached, a thin line of light appeared across the metal.
The wall split down the center and opened inward.
Beyond it was a smaller room than he expected.
There were no machines, weapons, or large storage containers. A circular platform stood in the middle of the chamber, surrounded by twelve low pillars. A single chair faced a curved wall covered in inactive glass.
Rhoswen stared at it.
"That looks like a throne."
Aurelian gave her a brief look.
"It is a chair."
"It is raised above the floor, placed in the center of a sealed room, and surrounded by pillars."
"A dramatic chair."
Astra examined the platform.
"There are no visible controls."
Eirenne moved ahead of them, but her projection flickered as soon as she crossed the doorway.
"This chamber is isolated from the main network."
"Again?" Rhoswen asked.
"The sanctuary's designers did not trust remote access with important systems."
"They were very suspicious people."
