Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Cracks in soul

The world outside the lab was calm. The sun rose over cities, streets, and highways. But in secret, far above politics and governments, the United States had discovered something hidden—a system that no one was supposed to know existed.

The artificial world.

Information leaked slowly, through intelligence networks, through coded messages, through whispers in the dark. And now, a team was forming—specialized, trained, and deadly. Assassins, operatives, hackers, anyone capable of overthrowing a system designed to protect secrets at any cost. Their goal: break into the AI world, destroy the project, and control it.

They did not know how dangerous it was. They did not know the truth.

Meanwhile, in the real world, Kyle walked home from his part-time job. The streets were busy, sunlight bouncing off windows, people hurrying to offices, shops, schools.

He noticed a commotion on a side street—a man shouting at a woman. She tried to back away, but he cornered her.

Without thinking, Kyle ran forward. "Hey! Leave her alone!"

The man turned. His eyes were sharp. A smirk appeared. He reached into his pocket.

Before Kyle could react, a needle shot out. A small prick against his arm. Kyle gasped, staggering back.

"What—what did you do?!" Kyle shouted, gripping his arm.

The man laughed and vanished into the crowd before anyone could stop him.

Kyle felt dizzy. The street tilted. People's voices sounded distant, distorted. He tried to walk, but his legs shook.

Something was wrong.

Back at the lab, the scientists monitoring dives noticed strange readings. Kyle's Fluctlight data was flickering.

"Alert," one technician said. "Fluctlight destabilizing."

"What?" the senior scientist exclaimed. He rushed to the screen. The glowing shape representing Kyle's soul wavered. Pulses slowed. Random sparks appeared along the network.

"This… this is impossible," the scientist muttered. "Nothing in the system should affect him from the outside. Kyle hasn't logged in yet."

The recruit frowned. "Could it be… a drug?"

"Yes," the senior said grimly. "Some experimental chemical could interact with the brain… but this type? This is damaging his Fluctlight. If he enters the AI world like this…"

He did not finish the sentence. The danger was clear

Kyle collapsed on the sidewalk, gripping his head. Lights blurred. Faces twisted. He tried to speak, but words came out jumbled. Panic rose inside him, though he didn't know why.

Inside the AI world, the system sensed the disturbance. His Fluctlight flickered like a dying flame. Data that represented Kyle's consciousness began to break.

Memories, emotions, reactions—all destabilized. The system tried to protect him, tried to shield the world from corruption, but the damage was spreading.

And somewhere, deep inside the artificial world, small cracks began to appear in the perfect lives of AI humans. Decisions that should have been predictable faltered. A few Fluctlights felt something they could not name—fear, uncertainty, confusion. Something was wrong, but they could not understand why.

The senior scientist slammed a fist against the console. "We need to stop this! Kyle cannot enter the system in this state! His Fluctlight—if it's damaged—could destroy years of progress!"

The recruit stared at the screen, pale. "But he's… outside, isn't he?"

"Yes!" the senior shouted. "But if he survives and logs in… we could lose everything. Entire generations of AI humans, history, civilization… could collapse!"

Outside, Kyle's vision darkened. He fell to his knees. The world spun. The city lights stretched like rivers of color across the sky.

Somewhere, faint and distant, the AI world trembled.

And in another country, deep in a hidden facility, the US team of assassins began assembling. They knew nothing of Kyle, nothing of his accident, nothing of the Fluctlights themselves.

Their plan was simple: infiltrate, destroy, and seize the system. But the world inside the AI network had already noticed something was wrong. Something unplanned. Something dangerous.

And Kyle… Kyle was at the center of it all.
