Seraphine did not mind wasting a little money for important information. The cost of the truth was trivial compared to the weight of the questions pressing down on her.
She said seriously, her voice carrying the finality of a business deal, "Fine, I'll let everything go, and I'll give you ten million dollars. You just have to answer every question truthfully."
Another yawn escaped her, her jaw cracking with the effort. The exhaustion was catching up with her, pulling at her eyelids, making her limbs feel heavy and uncooperative.
But Coco had a plan of her own, her eyes gleaming with naked avarice. "Make it twenty."
Seraphine did not have the energy to argue. The thought of haggling felt like climbing a mountain, and she simply didn't have the strength left in her. She agreed to it with a weary nod. "Fine, twenty million it is. So what happened with Voren?"
"Money first," Coco insisted, her hand outstretched, fingers twitching with impatience.
