Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Alliances, R(+QI)

The fallout from the museum was immediate and seismic. Society pages blazed with the story: "Moretti Patriarch Claims Artist as His Own," "Cold War Turns Hot at Museum Gala," "Cynthia Calvano Upstaged in Her Own Court." The narrative was now set in stone: Melissa was not just Luca's lover; she was Vittorio's acknowledged protégée.

In the calm of the penthouse the next day inside the art studio of Melissa that Luca prepared for her, however, Melissa felt the weight of it. "I didn't want a war, Luca. I just wanted to stand my ground."

He pulled her onto his lap on the vast sofa, his arms a secure cage around her. "Melissa ,in our world, standing your ground *is* the declaration of war, you did not start it. Cynthia did, the moment she tried to diminish you at the gala. My grandfather merely escalated the conflict on your behalf. He has made your position unassailable."

"But at what cost?" she murmured, thinking of the pure hatred in Cynthia's eyes.

"The cost of peace with a viper is your own lifeblood," he said, his voice grim. "It is better this way. The lines are clear."

The clarity brought its own challenges. A gallery owner, was a whirlwind of agitated excitement. "The offers are insane, Mel! But they're… complicated. This luxury brand wants you as a face, but their parent company has ties to Calvano shipping. Do we take it and look strong, or refuse and look afraid?"

It was a chess game where every move had financial and political repercussions. Melissa, after a long consultation with Luca and a surprising, shrewd phone call with Vittorio, made her decision. "We refuse. My art isn't a banner for a corporate feud, we'll find partners who want me for my work, not my notoriety."

It was a statement of independence that Vittorio, she learned, applauded. "Good," he'd grunted over the phone. "A tree that bends too easily to every wind has shallow roots."

A different kind of alliance was forming closer to home. Helen, Melissa's mother, had been following the news with increasing alarm. Her weekly calls grew more frequent, her questions sharper.

"Melissa, these people… they're in the newspapers for business disputes, for God's sake. Not the style section. Are you safe?"

"I'm safe, Mom. Luca would never let anything happen to me."

"It's not just about physical safety, honey," Helen sighed, the sound crackling down the line. "It's about your heart. Your future. This is a gilded cage, even if you can't see the bars yet."

The comment stung because it echoed her oldest fears. "It's not a cage. He supports my art. His grandfather respects me."

"But at what price?" Helen asked, echoing Melissa's own earlier doubt. "Your peace? Your anonymity? Your freedom to just be a young woman in love without it being a political act?"

The conversation left Melissa unsettled. She loved her mother, but Helen came from a world where love was a quiet, private contract, not a public treaty. She couldn't understand.

Seeking neutral ground, Melissa arranged a lunch with Sophie and Chloe. Over salads in a sun-drenched café, she finally let her guard down.

"My mom thinks I'm in a gilded cage," she confessed, pushing lettuce around her plate.

Chloe, ever pragmatic, nodded. "I mean, the security detail is a bit… intense. But have you seen that penthouse? If that's a cage, sign me up."

Sophie was more thoughtful. "I think your mom is scared because she can't protect you in that world. And she sees the target on your back." She reached over and squeezed Melissa's hand. "But you're not the girl who left Queens anymore, Mel. You faced down a room full of billionaires and you have a Mafia don as your personal hype man. You're protected by Morettis. That's pretty serious armor."

"It's not just armor, Soph. It's… it's home. With Luca. It's messy and terrifying and too fast, but it's *real*."

Sophie smiled. "Then that's what you tell your mom. Not about the wars or the business, but about the man. Make her see *him*, not the empire."

It was the best advice she'd received. That evening inside of her room art studio, she video-called Helen again.

This time, she didn't talk about galas or rivals, but talked about how Luca made her tea when she was working late, how he listened, truly listened, to her ideas.

She talked about the quiet pride in Vittorio's eyes. She made it about the people, not the power.

Helen's face softened. "He makes you happy?"

"More than I ever thought possible." She confirmed.

A long pause. "Then I'll try to be happy for you, sweetheart. Just… promise me you'll keep your eyes open."

"I promise."

As she ended the call, Luca entered the room art studio, fresh from a workout. "Everything okay?"

She walked into his arms, breathing in his familiar, comforting scent. "Getting there," she said. "We're building our own peace. Brick by brick."

He kissed her forehead. "The strongest foundations," he quoted his grandfather, "are built by two."

"So you tired, huh?" She asked with playful smirk on her lips, as her finger playful touch his chest, he chuckled understandly.

"Try me!" His voice steady but challenging tone could be heard inside of it, she bite her lower lip teasingly, before kneels down, his eyes widened in anticipation and desire.

Her hands slowly unzip his pants and helped him withdraw his throbbing hardened p*nis , wrapping her hand around it ,he felt rush of excitement and desire, as she move her hand with a slow pace, she looked up to him his eyes shut clearly hits burning fire intensitly inside.

Her other hand pulled back her hair, before she take him on her mouth, he groans."F*ck!..."

Her mouth move with a confidence, licking the tip of his , sucking him whole before he hold on to her head ,guiding her movement, she took him deep in her throat almost choked but didn't back off.

He groaned , as her moans around his shaft making the erotic vibration on his hardened shaft."I'm close!" He demanded.

Her mouth, tongue increased the speed, making his legs trembling in welcoming the climax, he withdraw from her mouth and hold her up, standing close to him."I don't want make you dirty in the middle of your work time," she smiled understanding that he held his release , as he knew she's still busy with her art work, with that Melissa kiss him, and she putted back his hardened shaft inside of his pants for him,."But you gonna pay for this" He hissed sarcastically in a flirty tone.

"Can't wait then" she added before zipped up Luca's pants , he pulled her into a bear hug before planting another kiss on her lips."I'm waiting for you... in my study" he spoke, heavy scent from his early ecstacy , before walking out of the room.
