Liang Chen turned around and had barely taken two steps when a hand suddenly caught his wrist.
He stopped immediately.
The sudden restraint made the anger that had been simmering inside him flare again. He slowly turned his head, his eyes cold as they landed on Xu Jin.
"Let go of my hand."
His voice was firm, leaving no room for misunderstanding.
Xu Jin felt the indifference in those eyes.
It wasn't the familiar annoyance Chen usually showed him when he was being troublesome. It wasn't amusement, nor was it the helpless fondness with which Chen sometimes tolerated his nonsense.
It was distance.
A distance Xu Jin had never seen in Liang Chen before.
His heart sank. Yet instead of releasing him, his fingers tightened around Chen's wrist.
"Brother Chen..." His voice was strained. "Please don't go yet. The fireworks are still pending."
Liang Chen's brows knitted together. He didn't understand why Xu Jin was still trying to stop him. The fireworks didn't matter anymore.
