With Yun Hu nestled comfortably in his arms and a shopping bag hanging from one hand, Chen wandered aimlessly through the unfamiliar neighborhood.
He had no destination in mind.
Grandma had ordered him not to return home until dinner, so all he could do was stroll around and pass the time.
Yun Hu, meanwhile, looked perfectly content. Every now and then, he lazily peeked out from Chen's arms, observing the passing people before burying his face back against Chen's chest.
After walking for a while, Chen noticed a small convenience store on the corner of the street.
"...Let's buy some water first," he murmured.
He pushed open the glass door and stepped inside.
The cool air-conditioning immediately washed over him, offering relief from the warm afternoon outside.
Chen walked to the refrigerator, picked up a bottle of water, and headed toward the checkout counter.
A young staff member smiled politely.
"Will that be all, sir?"
Chen nodded before hesitating.
