The evening air was thick, heavy with the lingering heat of the day. Hana walked beside Min-jae, her mind spinning with the unknown message they had received.
You think you're safe? Think again.
She couldn't stop replaying it over and over. Who could it be? And how much did they know?
Min-jae kept his hand firmly around hers, silent but alert. "We can't ignore this," he said finally, voice low. "We need to be careful."
Hana nodded, though a part of her wanted to run, to hide, to pretend none of this was real.
They returned to Hana's house, doors and windows carefully locked. Her mother was out at the store, leaving Hana alone with her thoughts. She tried to push aside the fear gnawing at her stomach, but it was impossible.
Min-jae pulled out his phone. "I've been tracing the messages. Whoever it is… they're good at hiding themselves."
Hana looked at him. "Good? You mean… dangerous."
He didn't answer at first. His eyes stayed on the screen. Then he sighed. "Yes. Dangerous. But that doesn't mean we can't fight back. We just have to be smart."
Hana shivered. "What if they… try something? Physically?"
Min-jae's eyes softened. "Then we protect ourselves. Together. No one will hurt you—not if I can stop it."
She wanted to believe him. She needed to. But the message still rang in her mind, unshakable.
A sharp knock at the window made them both jump.
Hana spun around. Her heart raced.
Nothing. Just the wind.
Min-jae checked every corner. "Probably just the tree branches," he said, though his tone was tense.
Hana nodded slowly, trying to steady her breath. But inside, her instincts screamed—someone had been here. Watching. Waiting.
She couldn't ignore it any longer.
"Min-jae…" she whispered, voice trembling slightly. "This is more than Yuri. Someone else is involved."
He didn't answer immediately. His jaw tightened. "Then we need to find out who. Whoever sent that message knows too much. They're trying to scare us. And they're willing to go far."
Hana swallowed hard. "Do you… think it's someone from school?"
He hesitated. "I don't know yet. But whoever it is… they're clever. And they're patient."
The room felt smaller, darker. Hana felt a shiver run down her spine.
Then her phone buzzed again.
A new message.
You can't hide forever. Watch your back.
Hana stared at the screen. Her hands shook.
Min-jae leaned closer. "We're not hiding," he said firmly. "We're preparing. And we're not alone."
Hana nodded, trying to believe him. But deep down, she knew that tonight was only the beginning.
Outside, shadows shifted. The wind whispered through the trees.
And someone, unseen and patient, smiled.
