Chapter 12 - A normal dinner

Kaen and Solvane were getting ready elegantly on their respective sides and had agreed to meet in front of the hotel.

Kaen walked through the corridors of the hotel, looking at all the white walls and remembering every moment since he had arrived here, all his training, all his frustration at not being able to touch Elisabeth even once. He would never admit it, his pride would not allow it, but even though he had a problem with her, he respected her more than anything.

He clenched his fists. "One day I'll beat you," he said with conviction, turning around and heading for the hotel entrance.

He didn't suspect for a second that the person he wanted to defeat a moment earlier was hidden through a dimensional doorway, watching.

She came out and looked at the same wall as Kaen. She remained silent, thinking about things only she knew, her face serious and tired, then disappeared through the same doorway she had come through, as if she had never passed through it.

Kaen walked through the luxurious corridors of the immaculate, almost magical white hotel, greeting wealthy guests as they passed by.

After walking for 10 minutes, he finally arrived at the lobby. Apparently, many people wanted to go outside today.

He couldn't see Solvane, so he waited in front of the hotel lobby with his arms crossed.

Solvane Pov

"Haahh, I'm going to be late. Kaen will have to wait for me."

She put on her ready-made white dress. It had been a long time since she had gone out with Kaen, and it made her very happy, even if she didn't necessarily show it in front of him. So she wanted to try to make the end of the day memorable for him, who had lost all his memories. She put on a little lipstick in front of the mirror and started to leave her room.

As soon as she left her room, she began to act like a different person. She was no longer Kaen and Elisabeth's little sister; she was Solvane Von Celestain, the princess of the Celestain family.

As she walked through the corridors, many people turned around and talked about her as if she were an angel fallen from heaven. This made her feel uncomfortable, but she didn't show any emotion and continued along the long corridors that the peasants would have described as a labyrinth.

After walking for about ten minutes, she finally arrived in the lobby. She didn't see Kaen, but she wasn't worried. She was late; he was probably waiting for her outside, because he didn't like crowded places. He likes to keep a low profile.

She finally arrived and saw her brother. He had black hair and beautiful ruby eyes. He was dressed all in black, which gave him a really dark look.

Three minutes before Solvane arrived

He waited silently, feeling very nervous. He had been waiting for her for over ten minutes. He clenched his fist, hidden between his crossed arms. No one noticed.

"Three more minutes and I'll go see what she's doing," he said to himself, looking up at the sky and sighing in exasperation.

Then he heard people making noise in the lobby. He naturally turned his head to see what was happening. It was Solvane walking in a beautiful, elegant white dress. She looked angelic, almost divine. She stopped in front of him and looked him in the eyes.

"You took your time," said Kaen irritably.

Solvane took his arm and, sighing dramatically, replied, "My dear brother, you shouldn't say that to your future wife, if you have one, with that attitude. You know women don't like to be criticized for how long they take to get ready."

Kaen looked up at the sky, completely oblivious to what she was saying.

"Oh, and where is the crazy old woman? Is she coming?" Kaen asked Solvane.

"She'll join us if she feels like it. She's that kind of person, after all, always doing what she wants." Solvane replied, annoyed by the situation.

"I see." Kaen didn't try to continue the conversation, sensing that Solvane was really frustrated by the situation.

"Elisabeth? She'll join us if she feels like it. You know her, she does what she wants," replied Solvane, dismissing the subject with a wave of his hand.

An awkward silence ensued. Kaen sensed that Solvane was waiting for something, but he didn't know what. He observed him for a moment, taking in the dress, the hairstyle, the effort.

"Solvane... you look very pretty in that outfit," he said, his monotone voice betraying his lack of familiarity with compliments.

"Thank you. You look very handsome too, big brother."

The duo, one dressed in black, the other in white, left the hotel and headed into the city.

Kaen was captivated by what they saw: the street lamps, made in an antique style, were crafted with crystals inside; the streets were crowded with people traveling in carriages, some in couples, others with their families.

He turned his head toward Solvane, who seemed to be enjoying herself.

"You must live, Solvane. I won't let you die."

The words had escaped his lips before he could stop them. Solvane stopped short, her smile fading slightly when she saw her brother's serious, almost pained expression.

"Kaen? Why are you saying that all of a sudden?" she asked, confused.

He shook his head, chasing away his dark thoughts, and put on his usual mask of indifference.

"It's nothing, I'm just hungry and starting to ramble," he said, pretending to be indifferent.

"It's time to eat, don't you think?" he asked Solvane.

"Yes, indeed, you look pale. You need to eat more and train less," she said, caressing his face to see if everything was all right.

'What are you, my mother?' he thought desperately, but did not argue further.

Solvane took him to a luxurious restaurant that only the wealthy could afford.

Solvane entered comfortably, and Kaen followed behind him. He looked at the ceiling and walls made of marble with chandeliers made of magnificent purple mana crystal hanging from the ceiling and candles giving off heat. He seemed to be looking for something else but found nothing.

Solvane stopped, leaned close to her ear, and whispered, "Don't be too cautious. There aren't assassins everywhere, all the time."

"You really are too gullible, sister."

He continued walking and took a VIP table where they settled comfortably. The chairs were like mini thrones, the red silk covering the table was magnificent, and a levitating candle was placed in the middle of the table.

They ordered food from the old waiter who came to serve them.

"This guy is weird."

He didn't think twice about it at the time and continued eating his beef tartare, but then he heard noises in the room, which put Kaen in a very bad mood. Even though he had a new life, his nightmares followed him beyond death.

He got up, taking his plate of tartare with him, and went to see what was happening.

He saw a group of about 20 people, each with their own distinctive features: a few women, a few men, some fat, some thin, some young, some old, but Kaen didn't care. He saw someone he recognized: an old man, the same one who had served Solvane a few minutes earlier, and himself.

He slowly approached with a confident stride while eating, all eyes on him, whether they were customers who were there to eat or criminals, while his gaze was fixed on the old man.

"Tell me, yes, you, the waiter, what is your name?"

"Albert," he replied simply, without any particular emotion.

He continued walking. The restaurant was very large. It could be compared in size to a concert hall, while continuing to eat. He arrived at a table right next to the people who had come. He ruined his evening.

"So who are you?" asked Kaen.

A woman stepped forward. "We came for Solvane Von Celestain," she said arrogantly.

She tried to touch his face, but Kaen grabbed her hand, slammed it against the table, and stabbed her with a fork.

She screamed in pain for a few seconds, and Kaen leaned close to her ear, pulling the woman's long hair to the other side. "You know, if you want to seduce someone, never start the conversation with 'I've come for your little sister.' It's not very well received."

"Ahahahah, so you're the famous good-for-nothing Kaen Von Celestain," replied the woman, despite the pain caused by the fork.

The whole room was in shock at this revelation when a woman emerged from the same place where Kaen had appeared.

"Big brother."
