Elena's POV
"Oh my goodness!" Marcus gasped, his eyes going wide. "You have a child?"
The words hit like an accusation rather than a question as he pointed at Oliver.
Relief crept through my body slowly, and I breathed shakily after Sebastian Underwood's threatening words.
"How come I didn't know this?" Marcus demanded, starting to pace the room. "Say something, Elena."
His commanding tone sparked irritation in me, giving me the strength to find my voice. "Why are you here? What do you want?"
Marcus ignored my questions, running a hand through his hair while continuing to pace. Then he moved closer to Oliver. "Hey, little man."
I lunged forward instantly. "Stay the fuck away from my child!" I snapped, scooping Oliver into my arms.
"Whoa! I'm not fighting you," Marcus said, raising his hands. "I'm just... genuinely surprised."
"Yes, that's my child. What else?" I asked through clenched teeth.
"Nothing really," he said with a shrug, though his eyes remained fixed on Oliver.
