Ever since Siyoon could remember, life in Korea had never been easy. It wasn't the absolute worst life imaginable but it was certainly not one he ever wished to return to.
His parents had passed away when he was still very young. So much time had passed that, at his current age, their faces had become nothing more than blurry memories and the sound of their voices had long since faded from his mind.
Sometimes, he would desperately try to remember how they looked when they smiled at him but no matter how hard he tried, he could only recall fragments. It was as if time had cruelly stolen even the memories he wanted to cherish the most.
As if losing his parents wasn't enough, neither side of his family wanted the responsibility of raising another child. Everyone had their own excuses where some claimed they were struggling financially, while others simply didn't want another mouth to feed.
In the end, Siyoon learned early on that no one was coming to save him.
