After the mission was completed, Darian didn't plan to stay in this server any longer and prepared to head to the next one.
The Immortal Alliance now had eight members, far exceeding the minimum number required for the mission.
Among them were four Wolverines; if they kept collecting them, they might actually gather a Marvel version of the Seven Gold Power.
Darian turned to Wade and said, "Activate the teleporter. It's best to choose a parallel Universe with more Healing Factor Mutants. It'll save us the trouble of running around and searching parallel Universes one by one."
"Man, you really have a lot of demands."
Wade muttered as he looked down and fiddled with the teleportation device on his wrist.
A yellow light flashed, and the scene before them switched instantly.
The two stood amidst city ruins. The sight was somewhat similar to when they first arrived in the wasteland World, yet distinctly different.
A heavy, pungent odor permeated the air. As far as the eye could see, there were large splashes of blackish-brown blood, long since dried and hardened, as if an indiscriminate Carnage had taken place here.
The streets were eerily silent.
There were no figures, no sounds, only the hollow whistling of the wind passing through broken walls.
Darian looked around, his brow arching slightly. "Where is this? It couldn't be another wasteland World, could it?"
"I don't know either."
Wade scratched his head and tapped the flickering interface on his wrist.
"Probably a side effect of Disney's acquisition of Fox. This crappy teleporter is starting to throw a tantrum, the coordinates are jumping all over the place. Looks like I'll have to go back and find that buzz-cut kid who looks like the lead from Stranger Things and have her give this thing some psychological counseling."
"But since we're already here, whatever, let's take a look first."
Wade chuckled and walked straight toward a derelict jewelry store across the street. Most of the glass display windows were shattered, and many expensive ornaments could be seen scattered on the display racks.
Watching Wade start his 'zero-dollar shopping' spree, Darian looked on with disdain, then turned into the weapon shop next door and activated auto-loot mode.
Though a jewelry store and a weapon shop being side-by-side was a bit weird, considering this was America, it was actually quite normal.
Quickly, Darian emptied the entire weapon shop.
By the time he stepped back onto the street, Wade had just emerged from the jewelry store. Several chains of varying thickness hung around his neck, his ten fingers were covered in rings, and even his wrists were stacked with bracelets, clinking as he walked.
"I love this World! It's simply wonderful!"
Wade raised both hands, flaunting his handfuls of shiny jewelry like a nouveau riche.
The previous wasteland World was dirt poor; forget luxury goods, even the mannequins in shop windows were taken home to be used as wives. Unlike this World, where the streets were full of unwanted good stuff free for the taking—it was practically paradise.
"If only a hot girl would throw herself into my arms, it would be perfect!"
"Are you making a wish here?"
Darian scoffed, thinking this guy was purely dreaming.
However, just as he finished speaking, a figure suddenly stumbled out from the shadows of a street corner.
It was a woman with wavy blonde hair and an excellent figure—at least Tifa-level—but her clothes were tattered, barely covering the parts that would need censoring.
She fell to the ground after only a few steps. When she looked up, she happened to see the two men on the street, and a glimmer of hope immediately appeared on her pale face.
"Please... save me!"
The blonde woman's voice trembled with a hint of a sob.
"Look! What did I tell you! That Purple Mood's 'destiny' is crap; Lord Wade is the true man of destiny!"
Wade gave Darian a smug look and ran over to the blonde woman.
He leaned down, striking a pose he considered dashing and reckless, even deliberately lowering his voice into a gravelly, breathy tone.
"Beautiful lady, I am the superhero Deadpool with tens of billions of fans. How can I help you?"
"Behind me... something terrifying is chasing me... I'm so scared..."
The blonde woman's eyes brimmed with tears, looking utterly pitiful.
Wade straightened his back and thumped his chest hard. "Don't be afraid! With me here, I guarantee no one can hurt you!"
"But I'm still so scared, I feel so insecure... Can you hold me?"
Wade looked at her teary-eyed expression, then glanced at the curves glimpsed beneath the rags. He felt a surge of justice rush to his head... er, his heart.
"Say no more. Come, don't be shy just because I'm a charismatic superhero. Come on, baby, throw yourself into Lord Deadpool's warm and reliable embrace!"
As Wade spoke, he spread his arms, which were draped in jewelry, and moved to hug her enthusiastically.
The moment Wade drew near, the weak and terrified expression on the blonde woman's face vanished. Her eyes turned into yellow vertical slits, and patches of eerie blue scales rapidly surfaced on her cheeks and exposed skin.
The person was actually Mystique!
However, this Mystique looked extremely bizarre. Her body was covered in shocking scars, the deepest of which slashed diagonally from her shoulder to her abdomen, the flesh turned out so far that bone was visible.
Her face was even more hideous and terrifying; her lips were gone, exposing gums stained with black grime and sharp teeth.
"Holy shit!"
Seeing this, Wade was so startled that his whole body went limp. He tried to retreat but was held tightly by Mystique.
"Darling, your embrace is so warm. Let me show you my gratitude!"
Mystique's eyes were filled with greedy longing. Her mouth suddenly tore open to her ears, and she opened her bloody maw to bite down hard on Wade's face!
Bang!
A gunshot suddenly rang out.
Mystique's head exploded, and a pile of mosaics splashed all over Wade's head and body.
"Puh! Ptooey, ptooey!"
Wade quickly pushed away the headless corpse holding him and frantically wiped the thick grime from his face.
"Damn it! It was actually Mystique! How did she become this monstrous!?"
"She's become a zombie. She probably just saw you as lunch."
Darian looked at Mystique's corpse on the ground.
[NPC: Raven Darkholme]
[Status: Zombified]
This status was exactly the same as the zombie superheroes that had crossed over via the super particle collider in the Spider-Man Universe.
"Could it be that this server is the one where those zombie superheroes come from?" Darian speculated inwardly.
"Zombies!?"
Wade's eyes widened.
"Like the ones in Resident Evil? The kind that walk slowly, bite anyone they see, and force you into their faction if you get nipped?"
Darian nodded.
"Pretty much, but they don't walk slowly. Aside from losing their taste for vegetables, their physical functions are mostly the same as when they were alive, and they retain their intelligence and superpowers."
"That sounds truly terrible."
Wade suddenly thought of something and asked curiously, "By the way, how did you realize she was a zombie Mystique? Is that also one of your abilities?"
Darian shook his head.
"Oh no, I just used some simple logical deduction."
"What deduction?"
"Think about it. In this World, how could a girl ever voluntarily throw herself into your arms? It's clearly illogical. Therefore, there must be a catch."
Wade: "..."
Seeing Wade silent, Darian continued, "Now you're supposed to reply with 'that makes so much sense I can't even argue.' You can't even handle a setup, and you call yourself a troll."
Wade was exasperated. "Where's the logic in that? I'm the recognized heartthrob of the Marvel Universe! You have no idea how many female heroes and villains secretly lust after my body!"
"So you're not denying that you're a troll?"
"There's no need to deny that. Being a troll is one of my personal charms. The more of a troll I am, the more the fans love it!"
Just as the two were arguing, several figures burst out from an alley ahead, blocking the middle of the street.
Darian scanned them and found that without exception, these figures were all superheroes and supervillains.
But now, these two groups that once belonged to different factions and fought each other had only one identity left: zombies.
They stared at Darian and Wade, a hint of surprise appearing on their mangled faces.
"Living people! They're actually fresh living people!?"
The super-zombies growled, rushing toward the two like hungry wolves seeing prey.
Darian was about to raise his gun to fire, but Wade reached out to stop him.
"Let me. They're just a bunch of extras I've never even heard of. Lord Wade can handle them easily by himself."
Having been deceived by the zombie Mystique, Wade was currently very angry. He immediately drew two katanas and charged.
Although Wade usually acted out of sorts, it had to be said that his combat strength was indeed high—at least his combat techniques were better than most people Darian had seen.
These superheroes and villains, whom even the game system didn't bother to evaluate, were no match for Wade alone.
Sword light flashed repeatedly. Several super-zombies were instantly decapitated before they knew what hit them, then stomped into mush by Wade, dying for good.
"Who else!?"
Wade flicked the foul blood off his katanas, tilted his head back, and shouted arrogantly.
The next moment, as if responding to his provocation, a dozen more super-zombies emerged from all directions.
"A living human!"
"Dinner time!"
"Finally, a full meal!"
"Don't let him get away!"
The super-zombies sped forward, a terrifying light of hunger shining in their eyes as they stared at Wade.
"Uh..."
Wade swallowed hard, his arrogant aura vanishing instantly.
No matter how well he could fight, he couldn't beat this many super-zombies, let alone achieve a no-damage clear.
"Captain, tag in, tag in!"
Wade quickly performed a Harden Step Back, retreating several meters to hide behind Darian.
Darian rolled his eyes at the troll but didn't say much, raising the two golden desert eagles in his hands.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang—!
The triggers were pulled continuously, and countless energy bullets flew from the barrels.
The super-zombies in the front bore the brunt of it. Dense energy bullets instantly riddled their bodies; before they could taste any flesh, they were stuffed full of energy bullets.
"Meat! I want meat!"
A sharp, hoarse roar came from above and to the side.
A female zombie, moving like a tiger on all fours, sprinted along the side wall at an incredible speed. She used the momentum to pounce down, her mouth opening to bite Darian.
But in the next second, a scorching gun barrel was shoved into her mouth.
"Eat this instead. This has more of a kick."
Bang!
The energy bullet instantly pierced through the Zombie Tiger Woman's entire mouth. Her pouncing momentum stopped dead, and her corpse fell heavily at Darian's feet.
Without even looking at the corpse at his feet, Darian continued to pour firepower into the swarming super-zombies.
A flying super-zombie rapidly changed direction in mid-air, trying to avoid Darian's barrage. Unexpectedly, a bullet suddenly took a sharp turn, hitting his skull with an impossible trajectory. He crashed instantly, kicking up a large cloud of dust.
One super-zombie took an unconventional path, attempting a surprise attack from underground. However, as soon as his head popped out, he was kicked like a football by Darian's Diamond Leg into the super-zombies in front.
The rest of the super-zombies with ordinary or insufficient abilities fell one after another under Darian's barrage.
Only one super-zombie with a physical-related ability withstood the barrage and successfully reached Darian.
"Hahaha, you're mine..."
Before he could finish, Darian grabbed his wrist and performed the Hellish Bliss Drop that Hulk loved so much.
Bam! Bam!!!
This super-zombie wasn't nearly as durable as Hulk. After a few slams, he was turned into meat paste by Darian, who finished him off with a final kick.
In less than a minute, all the super-zombies present had been dealt with by Darian.
"Captain, the two of us are truly amazing!"
Wade stepped out from behind Darian, praising Darian while conveniently including himself.
Darian ignored his thick skin and asked, "Are you sure this World still has Mutants with high-concentration Healing Factors?"
Forget Mutants, it was a mystery if there were even any living people left in this World.
"Well, maybe, maybe not."
Wade said a piece of nonsense quite seriously.
Darian was speechless. "Then change to a relatively safe World. Even one like the wasteland World would do."
This server clearly wasn't safe. One had to remember that even Thunder God Thor had been infected and turned into a zombie; the fates of other superheroes and villains likely wouldn't be much better.
Although Darian had several life-saving methods and didn't fear these super-zombies, he didn't want to waste precious items in a place like this.
"I agree."
Wade nodded quickly.
He wasn't afraid of dying, but becoming a zombie? No thanks.
Wade looked down and twisted the teleportation device in his hand, muttering, "Little guy, you can't make a mistake this time, or your Uncle Wade will lose a lot of face. OK, target selected, ready to go..."
Vwoom!!
Just as Wade pressed the teleportation button, a terrifying energy beam suddenly whistled through the air, hitting Wade directly!
"Ah!"
Wade let out a short scream. His entire being was instantly swallowed by a yellow light in mid-air and vanished.
Darian:"...."
Wait, I haven't even gotten on the bus yet!
