The pink glow of the system seemed to dim a little bit as it started shuffling guiltily away from its host. Yuna let out a small sigh and lay back on the bed. She closed her eyes wearily, trying to reduce the constant aching of her forehead.
"Speak," she said, her voice faint and quiet as it usually was, but firm.
The system moved around in a flurry, trying to suppress it's panic.
"Y...You see, well, ermm, your father... I mean, the Lord God," it hurriedly corrected it's mistake, while trying hard not to cry and inwardly cursing its creator— the Lord God— for putting it in this situation, "He decided, solely— I wasn't involved or consulted when he made this decision— to send you to an apocalyptic world to spend your holiday. He said it's for character development," the system added, it's voice getting smaller at the last sentence.
"Character development," Yuna repeated slowly as if savouring those words, her forearm resting over her eyes.
The system gulped audibly, maintaining its distance from her, and added, "He also said that you can fully have your holiday experience in this world, as it's not a mission world for you. Also, you won't be unable to use your abilities here, although they will be really suppressed because they are too powerful and can easily, well, destroy this world if you get angry again l...like before. His words, not mine," the system quickly added, trying to absolve itself of any blame.
"And he gave you a new ability as a gift for completing your 1000th mission. It's a mental ability, and yours is complete unlike others who are only able to have access to one or two branches of the mental ability."
"I see".
"Don't be mad, Yuna," the system moved closer to her, gently nudging and rubbing against her arm in a bid to provide comfort, although it's body wasn't in a physical state at the moment.
Yuna slowly stood up and walked to the large window at the opposite side of the room. The afternoon sun casts a golden glow on her seamlessly brown complexion a she leans against the window.
"This isn't a new experience anyway. We'll need to prepare a few things".
"That's the spirit, Yuna. I've already started drafting a list of the things you'll need to purchase to keep in your space. This will ensure your comfort when the apocalypse hits this world. And since your avatar in this world has a large inheritance, you can just use that money to buy all of the things you'll be needing, instead of using your points in the system shop".
Speaking of space, Yuna then remembered that she hadn't seen a certain furry companion of hers in a while. She proceeded to release the mischievous little troublemaker who was now feeling depressed and abandoned by his owner.
"Meow," a voice filled with accusation rang out. The owner —a small black cat— then proceeded to rub against its master in a coquettish manner while laying down complaints about being left in her spatial realm each time she was transported to a new world.
Yuna lazily raised a hand to pet the creature on the head, its purrs vibrating against her skin.
The cat closed its eyes blissfully, enjoying its master's show of affection which only occured once in a blue moon. Its forest green eyes opened slowly and it suddenly saw a palm sized floating pink ball resting on the other side of its master.
How presumptuous!
To catch this relationship-encroaching mistress and teach it a good lesson, the feline leaped out swiftly, aiming for a clear strike. The system tried to move away when it saw that crazy creature aiming at it. It had forgotten that it wasn't in a physical body that could be touched.
Thud
The muffled sound of something hitting the carpeted floor cut through the tranquility of the room.
"Lucifer, have you been possessed by something?" Yuna's voice lazily inquired, barely even disturbed by the brief commotion caused by her cat.
The system floated above the cat who was now seeing double from the impact of its head meeting the floor. Its voice filled schadenfreude, it intoned, "Master, I think traveling through the space void has probably affected Lucifer's brain and made it a stupid cat".
Yuna slowly sat up. Her brows furrowed in a frown.
"He was in my personal realm, though. He shouldn't be affected."
"Maybe he's just broken," the system cheekily responded.
It took a few photos of the poor cat from different angles for future blackmail purposes.
Lucifer, now recovered from his embarrassing fall, cried out in anguish, completely forgetting he was the one who started making trouble.
His owner stretched out her hands and the little cat rushed to her, nudging at her chest with his nose as she brought him close.
"You spoil him so much. Hmph! What a useless cat," the system huffed with a roll of its tiny beady eyes.
Yuna stretched out a palm and also brought it closer for some petting. The little pink ball slowly lit up to a deeper shade of pink.
