Chapter 2 - A Little Pearl

Suisui was still a little heartbroken about the lost pearl hairpin.

Even though the entire hairpin wasn't worth much, each pearl on it was hand-picked by her.

The pale pink pearls were arranged into the shape of a camellia, simple and beautiful. It was one of her most frequently used accessories.

Now that it was broken, all she could do was silently wish for peace.

Thinking of the broken hairpin, she couldn't help but think of the Motorcycle's owner. Although it was just a fleeting glance, she had to admit it was a truly stunning one.

However, even though it was stunning, Suisui didn't dwell on it. After all, even if there were occasional little accidents in life, they would eventually return to normalcy.

Meanwhile, Wen Gu was gradually catching up. Unfortunately, it was rush hour, and the flow of people was heavy, making it impossible to get close to Suisui.

This made him a little anxious. If he couldn't get close, he wouldn't be able to further confirm whether what he'd just seen was a delusion. It was like his curiosity had been piqued, and then he couldn't satisfy it.

This was simply unacceptable for his strong personality!

So, he honked the horn, trying to get Suisui's attention.

Unfortunately, the horn didn't just get Suisui's attention; it got everyone else's too.

Seeing the mechanical beast beneath him, everyone knew it was worth a fortune, so they instinctively moved away, fearing any scratches they couldn't afford to pay for.

Wen Gu was quite satisfied with this effect. As the crowd slowly dispersed, he was finally close to Suisui.

However, two Electric Scooters were stuck in the middle, unresponsive. And Suisui's Electric Scooter had automatically moved to the innermost lane when the horn sounded.

This still created distance between them, preventing Wen Gu from getting closer.

Wen Gu glared at the two middle-aged people next to him, hoping they would be sensible enough to move aside.

The old folks didn't even glance at him. No matter how expensive his ride was, it meant nothing to them!

Wen Gu glared at the two Electric Scooters, wishing he could just smash into them.

But he glanced at Suisui, who was furthest in, and held back. He didn't want their first meeting to begin with him causing an accident.

So, he slowed down again, slowly approaching the back of Suisui's Electric Scooter, and called out:

"Hey!"

Suisui turned her head at the sound and saw it was the Motorcycle again. She instinctively sped up.

Why was this person behind her?

Was he following her?

I don't even know him?

What does he want?

Whatever the reason, I need to get rid of him as quickly as possible!

So, Suisui relied on the Electric Scooter's agility, weaving through the traffic. The more Wen Gu shouted, the faster she drove!

Wen Gu: "..." Am I really that scary?

The Motorcycle, unfortunately, was at a disadvantage during the rush hour, appearing somewhat clumsy!

Finally, Wen Gu could no longer see her!

Looking at the vanished Suisui, Wen Gu found it absurd!

This was just unbelievable!

He was pretty sure Suisui had noticed him. And because she had, she was running even faster!

Was he some kind of monster?

Why else would the little girl be so desperate to avoid him!

With his status, he was always the one being approached, the one being chased. When had he ever been deliberately ditched like this?!

And what the hell was that Electric Scooter anyway! Why was it so fast?

He never thought his million-dollar Motorcycle would be outrun by an Electric Scooter!

It was simply unbelievable!

"I'm selling this useless piece of junk as soon as I get back!!!"

(Motorcycle: I'm so wronged...)

Suisui finally returned to the neighborhood. After looking around and confirming there was no one suspicious, she slowly went upstairs!

It wasn't that she was suspicious, nor was she overly cautious, because she had indeed experienced it firsthand.

In that small village where she and Grandma depended on each other, Grandma always warned her to be careful of anyone!

Beauty is indeed a sharp weapon, but it also comes with a deadly danger!

A girl like her, beautiful but without strength, being careful was the best way to protect herself!

She opened the door and finally entered her own little home. Although it was only 37 square meters, it was a home that belonged only to her!

The title page of the house deed only listed Suisui's name!

It was her own, complete, private space!

Every blade of grass, every tree, every cup, and every bowl in the room were all things Suisui had personally chosen. Watching her little home gradually fill up according to her own ideas gave Suisui a sense of peace.

It was a sense of satisfaction and ease of mind.

She opened the window and watered the marigolds on the balcony. The breeze was gentle, carrying a touch of coolness on the summer night.

Suisui took a shower and made herself a cup of flower tea. She lay down on the beanbag chair, ready to video call Grandma.

The old woman was getting on in years and didn't know how to use a smartphone, but every time Suisui called, she always answered immediately.

Suisui knew that Grandma must have been sitting by her phone after dinner, waiting for her call.

The camera opened, revealing Grandma's gentle smile. Suisui was very happy and called out in a sweet voice:

"Grandma, have you eaten yet?" (Dialectal term, don't misunderstand)

"Yes, yes, Grandma ate her food, being a good girl." The old woman was especially happy to see her beloved granddaughter.

"The fruit at home is all ripe. Your Grandpa Xu's grandson is also working in D City. I heard he's at some procuratorate, doing quite well."

"He came back a few days ago and said he's not far from you. You've loved eating fruit since you were little, so Grandma asked him to bring some of the fruit from home for you."

Suisui's hometown is in Yunnan Province, which has a subtropical climate. It's not only a major tourist province but also a major fruit and flower province.

Suisui has loved eating fruit since she was a child. Grandma planted jackfruit, mangoes, grapes, and other fruits in the courtyard, and they had everything.

Not only that, but the front yard was also filled with flowers, with different flowers blooming in each season, filling the entire yard with fragrance.

And whenever that happened, Suisui would be like a flower fairy, sniffing one flower, patting another, happily flitting around the little courtyard.

Sometimes, she'd play with the little children in the village, picking fruits one moment, weaving flower crowns the next. Life was so carefree.

This season, pineapples and guavas should be ripe. Grandma remembered her preferences, and during the years she was away studying, she would send her a lot of fruit every month.

Even though they lived in the mountains, making it very inconvenient to go to town, she never missed a single month!

Grandma loved her very much, very, very much!

Although she had little connection with her parents, having Grandma's overflowing love was enough!

The only regret was that Grandma didn't want to move in with her. The old woman couldn't bear to leave the mountains, always saying she wasn't used to living in the city. Actually, Suisui knew Grandma was afraid of causing her trouble!

But Suisui had bought a house and had her own home. Once her job stabilized, she planned to bring Grandma over!

Then, she and her grandma could be happily together again!

After chatting with Grandma and hanging up the video call, Suisui saw a new message pop up:

"Hello, I'm Xu Rui. Grandma asked me to add you!"
