Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: The Deluge of Lies

The invitation sitting on Myra's desk wasn't a request; it was a death warrant for her secret.

"Dinner at 8:00 PM. Indigo Blue. Bring the Doctor. I want to get to know the man who plans to take my Lead Architect away."

Myra had spent three hours on the phone with Rohan, her voice trembling. "Please, Rohan. Just one more night. If he thinks we're real, he'll stop hunting you. I'll pay for your flight, I'll do anything!" Rohan, driven by a mix of old friendship and genuine fear for Myra's safety, finally agreed.

The Dinner from Hell

The atmosphere at Indigo Blue was suffocating. Reyansh sat across from them, looking like a dark god presiding over a sacrifice. He spent the entire meal performing a surgical interrogation.

"So, Dr. Malhotra," Reyansh said, swirling his wine. "Orthopedics. A busy field. I imagine you don't have much time for... distractions. How do you feel about Myra working sixteen-hour days under my roof?"

"I don't like it," Rohan countered, his voice steady despite the sweat on his neck. "But Myra is ambitious. I support her. Unlike some, I don't feel the need to own her to appreciate her."

Reyansh's eyes flashed with a lethal coldness. He leaned forward, his voice a low hiss. "Support is easy from Delhi, Doctor. But here, in Mumbai? Things get complicated. Structures collapse when they aren't monitored."

Throughout the meal, Reyansh made subtle, possessive remarks—noting the way Myra liked her steak, the way she tucked her hair behind her ear when she was nervous. He was marking her with words, showing Rohan that he knew the map of her soul better than any "boyfriend" ever could.

As they stepped out of the restaurant at 10:30 PM, the Mumbai sky didn't just rain—it exploded. A violent monsoon downpour turned the streets into churning rivers within seconds.

"I'll call the driver," Myra said, shivering in the sudden chill. She pulled out her phone, but as she stepped toward the curb, a sudden, powerful gust of wind slammed into her. The phone slipped from her wet fingers, falling into a deep, rushing gutter.

"No!" she cried, fishing it out. The screen flickered a ghostly green and then died. Waterlogged.

"It's dead," she whispered, panic rising. She couldn't call Reyansh. She couldn't tell him she was safe. To him, she was about to disappear into the night with Rohan.

"Myra, look at the streets. Cabs won't come out in this," Rohan said, shielding her with his coat. "My apartment is only two blocks away. You're shivering, and you're soaked to the bone. You can't stay out here."

"I have to get to the penthouse, Rohan. If I don't show up, he'll—"

"He'll what? Kill you for seeking shelter in a storm?" Rohan took her arm. "Come on. You can dry off, use my landline, and we'll figure it out."

Rohan's apartment was warm and smelled of old books and sandalwood—a sharp contrast to the cold, metallic luxury of the Khurana empire.

"The guest room is yours," Rohan said, handing her a pair of his oversized trackpants and a soft cotton t-shirt. "Get out of those wet clothes before you catch pneumonia."

Myra stood by the window of the guest room, wearing Rohan's clothes, watching the rain lash against the glass. She felt a strange, hollow peace, but her heart was heavy with dread.

She had no idea that three stories below, a black SUV sat idling in the darkness..

Inside the car, Reyansh sat in terrifying silence. He had tracked her phone until the signal died—right at the entrance of Rohan's building. He watched the light in the third-floor window flicker on. He stared at the window, his knuckles white as he gripped the steering wheel, imagining the "stable" doctor touching the woman who belonged to him.

"You chose him for the night, Myra," Reyansh whispered into the dark cabin of the car, his voice a jagged edge of jealousy and rage. "But tomorrow, the sun will rise. And I will make sure you never forget whose world you actually live in."
