Chapter 13 - Rejoined

The hall had six windows in general, three facing the outside and three facing the middle school section's walkway. Arthur focused on the first window.

His mana was filled due to his level ups, so he didn't have to use physical might.

Activating force manipulation he threw down everyone standing on the first window. He shattered the glass and pushed the iron protector into the hall.

Walking forward as he did this, he entered the hall before anyone else and met most of the survivors in the hall orderly sitting on desks with their heads rested.

In front of the hall, the desks of the school authorities had been set up with all twenty nine personnels calmly sitter. A little group of seniors stood before them monitoring the students.

" Maintaining order in a time like this is a feat I would give you that." Arthur said approaching the principal. However no one said a word to him, just staring in awe and fear.

'What did they do to keep everyone this still and quite, even after I created such a loud noise.' Someone should have raised his head up when they heard the iron protector fall, but none did.

The mathematics teacher, Sir Fiddle moved with a purposeful gait accosting Arthur. He initially planned to overlook him but when he saw the keys in old man's hands, he limped towards him.

Two boys from the observing group followed the teacher immediately they saw Arthur approach him. With a curt nod, they grabbed the man's hands. "I am so glad you survived Arthur." One said adjusting his glasses.

"We all survived, The Quad shall never be broken." Arthur said.

" What do you think you are…" Arthur didn't let him complete his statement before snatching the keys and walking over to the door. " Don't you dare open that." The older man queried.

" That could get us all killed, do you want to risk the life of everyone just for a group." His words weighted nothing to Arthur who stopped fumbling with the keys and opened the door.

Akin to an unleashed current, the survivors from all three schools flooded into the hall, those who tried breaking the windows used the window Arthur opened to jump in.

As the students poured in, Arthur noticed the first wave of zombies reaching the rear of the group. Ethan, Silas, Peter and a few others were already engaging the zombies.

However they were only bidding on time and a hulking figure approched the hall, its steps causing minor earthquakes. ' Live those dogs Ethan, climb in why risk your life for heroism.'

Hissing bitterly he looked at his two other friends, who had now left the man and was helping people in. He rushed out confronting the crowd of nearly five hundred students.

By the time he was out, the juggernaut had already struck down two awakeners with its fists. Just before his eyes, the third fell with half his body gone with a single punch.

Its next target was Ethan who was awfully close to it. Using telekinetic mobility to instantly close the distance, Arthur threw an augmentated punch at the zombie's incoming fist.

A thunderous clap echoed as ripples tore through the air around them. The zombie lost its palm instantly and Arthur felt blood tickle down his nose. Zombies around them were frozen as they didn't move after this.

Stunned Ethan held him by the shoulder and dragged him in with the last survivors. As soon as they were in, the door was shut behind them and bolted.

Ethan helped Arthur who was still recovering from mental shock, lean on the door before heading towards the gathering of teachers and students.

The arriving survivors began getting comfortable, someone walked up to Arthur and talked to him. When he noticed Arthur wasn't responding, he dropped Arthur's firearm and ammunition bags.

Another person walked up to him and dropped the dismembered table of a two sitter desk. Arthur regaining half his senses; picked his bags and sat on the table besides him.

His body closely touched the person who kept the table. ' I want to sleep mother, my headaches.' Temporarily unaware of what was happening, he rested his head on the shoulder of the person besides him.

He closed his eyes not to sleep but to rest, his vague memories and distant senses returned. The shoutings of the teachers made him open his eyes, sharper and more alive.

The first thing he noticed were the newly arrived survivors barricading the windows and doors, especially the one he broke down to get in.

All initial survivors now had their heads up but remained sitting.

" That isn't even a decision, space must be conserved for our students alone. The outsiders must be sent out." The voice of the male vice principal got louder.

"Send them out to die, that's impossible and wouldn't be allowed. You don't know what I passed through to bringing each and everyone of them here safely." Peter said.

" And that was a very big mistake, how are we to procure resources to take care of everyone." The principal said. Arthur listened as the argument continued, their voices drowning the noises of the undead.

'Why are they shouting.' Rising from the shoulder of the person besides him, he reached into his bag and took out a loaded Glock 17.

Turning to face Caelith he said, "Watch my bags for me." She nodded her expression a bit troubled. " Where are you going." She asked.

Arthur never felt obliged to answer a direct question, yet he replied in a carefree tone. "To see what's going on." Inquisitive she asked again, "Why are you with a gun, there is nothing dangerous here."

" The gun is an instrument of power, and you are wrong the most dangerous beings of the apocalypse surround us in this very hall." With that he moved away from her and walked towards the gathering.

He arrived with both in his pockets and stood with a group of three, Ethan turned to him and the other two followed. " Arthur!!!" Said the boys who helped him restraint the maths teacher earlier.

They embraced him, " Julian, Marcus I am so happy we all survived." Arthur said struggling to escape their arms, but he couldn't as he didn't want his arms to leave his pockets.

" Why would we, The Quad shall never be broken." Marcus the heftiest of the group said as the left him. Julian, the brown haired boy with glasses nodded, tapping Ethan's back.

After a moment of brief silence between them, Arthur rubbed his temples, his brain still aching from the stress." What is the commotion about, why are the teachers screaming at Peter." He asked.

"They want the students from other schools to leave, saying that there is minimal space and resources to share." Julian answered. Arthur kept silent for a moment and yawned."That could be resolved."
