Chapter 1 - The heart that chose her

Week 1 Episode

Episode 1: The Girl Who Changed the Air

Aderonke took the empty seat by the window, unaware that four pairs of eyes noticed the same thing—the calm she carried.

Tomiwa paused his sketch when she smiled at the teacher.

Kazeem frowned slightly, curious why someone so quiet felt so powerful.

Ibrahim closed his book, already wondering what she liked to read.

Daniel leaned over to his friend and whispered, "Who's the new girl?"

She didn't speak much that day.

But when the bell rang, something had already begun.

Not love.

Not yet.

The bell rang with its usual sharpness, echoing down the hallway like it always did. Students poured into the classroom in familiar clusters—laughter, complaints, hurried footsteps. Nothing about the morning felt different.

Until she walked in.

Aderonke paused briefly at the doorway, adjusting the strap of her bag on her shoulder. Her uniform was neat but simple, her hair pulled back without effort or decoration. She scanned the room quietly, not searching for attention, only for a place to sit.

There was one empty seat left—by the window.

She took it.

Sunlight brushed against her face as she settled down, and for a moment, the classroom felt oddly still.

At the back of the room, Tomiwa lowered his pencil. He had been sketching absentmindedly, lines forming without thought, but something about the calm way she moved caught his eye. She didn't rush. She didn't look nervous. She simply existed—soft, steady, real. Without realizing it, he turned the page of his notebook and began to draw again, this time with more care.

Across the room, Kazeem noticed the quiet shift too. He was used to being the center of attention—voices calling his name, friends leaning toward him. But his gaze drifted, curious. There was something about the new girl that didn't ask to be noticed, yet demanded it anyway. He frowned slightly, not in anger, but in confusion. Who was she?

Near the window row, Ibrahim closed the book he had been reading. He observed her thoughtfully, the way he observed most things—carefully, patiently. The way she listened to the teacher, the way her eyes followed each word, told him she wasn't just present. She was attentive. And that intrigued him more than beauty ever could.

Then there was Daniel.

Daniel leaned forward, resting his chin on his palm, a small grin tugging at his lips. "Who's the new girl?" he whispered to the boy beside him. There was no deep thought behind it, no mystery yet—just curiosity and the faint sense that the day had become more interesting.

Aderonke felt the room without looking at anyone. She had learned long ago how to sense attention without meeting it. She kept her eyes on her notebook, writing her name carefully at the top of the page.

The teacher spoke. Lessons began. Time moved again.

When Aderonke answered a question softly but correctly, Tomiwa looked up.

When she disagreed politely during a discussion, Kazeem smiled despite himself.

When she explained a point with quiet confidence, Ibrahim nodded once, impressed.

When the bell rang for break, Daniel laughed and said, "She barely said anything, but somehow she stood out."

Aderonke packed her bag slowly, unaware that four different thoughts followed her as she stood.

She didn't know it yet.

But the air had shifted—not loudly, not suddenly—just enough to change what would come next.

And this was only the beginning.
