Chapter 2 - Main House

Leon walked through the estate, headed for the main house, the place where it would take place. He had not been close to the main house for years, and the only time he did was four years back when there was some work to do there.

The path that led there felt foreign to him.

He walked there, not alone, as others who were fourteen were also headed there, and from their cheap clothes, it was easy to know they were pretty much similar to him.

Everyone kept to themselves, there was no use in talking, their minds were locked in, they had to ensure today went as well as possible and ensure that they awakened something great.

Summoning was a very important part of humanity, as it was the only way by which humanity could use Mana without having to resort to rituals.

Mana was an energy native to this world. This world was called Tera, and Mana was believed to come from its core. But Tera favoured many races, except humanity.

Every other race was allowed to manipulate and use Mana to cast magic and do the impossible. But for some reason, humanity was cut off from these benefits, and as for the reason, no one knew.

So humanity took to martial arts, training the internal energy of their bodies, and that was called Qi. It allowed humans to reach new levels of strength, it was the stepping stone they needed.

But only a few humans could rise to the peak and use martial arts to fight against magic. Magic remained superior until humans discovered summoning.

After many years of trying to harness magic, they finally found the solution when they connected to the summoning plane, which allowed them to call upon beings from the plane using a special summoning system.

And ever since then, humanity had been on the rise. With their own method of magic, they rose in the world of Tera.

That was the reason why summoning became crucial, and high talent in it was a ticket to greatness.

Leon arrived at the gates of the main house. He looked beyond the gate and saw the manor, a massive white marble house. It was the epitome of beauty, a sign of wealth, a direct contrast to the life that he lived.

Inside were guards in full armor, their faces hidden behind their helmets as they held swords in their hands while they marched, ready to take down any troublemaker.

The gates were opened today, something that rarely ever happened. He walked in, the brick paved roads led right to the main house.

As he walked, he saw some guards grooming what looked like a large bird. Its wings were silver in color, standing at the size of a small house.

'A summon, looks powerful,' Leon thought to himself. If he could get something that good on his first trial, that would be extremely good.

Looking ahead, he saw everyone heading to the Hall on the West side of the manor. It was part of the main building, but it was a stand alone construct.

He joined the walk there and trooped in.

Hundreds of them stood there, inside this massive Hall, and at the very front of the Hall was an orb the size of a head floating over a pedestal.

The summoning orb, the place where fates are made or shattered.

Leon stood there looking at the orb, when suddenly there was noise all around. When he paid attention, he heard what was going on.

"The core family and main family are coming," someone said.

As the next second, a few individuals the same age as everyone here walked in.

The first was a tall, muscular young man, who looked way older than his age. He was dressed in fitting noble clothes, a white high quality shirt and black pants with boots, a pristine purple neck cloth around his neck.

His silver hair was slicked back.

This hair was one of the main ways to know a core or main family member. Most of the outer family had black hair, but in the main and core family, silver and purple hair were the most prominent.

This young man was called Legolas Julius, the son of a former member of the main house, currently a member of the core house.

The difference between the main house and the core house was only a change in the name. The main house consisted of the direct family of the current head of house, and as for the core house, it consisted of all pure blood Julius that came from the main house.

As more and more generations passed, depending on certain factors, a core house member could have some of his descendants slip into the inner house or get pushed as far as the outer house.

Legolas's father was the brother to the current head of house. His father was once a member of the main house, but when his brother became the head, he was no longer part of the main family, making him a core family member.

But regardless of that, it didn't take any privilege away from his father in the house whatsoever.

Legolas walked with pride, as the eyes of the inner and outer house kids lay on him. He felt like the center of the world, but then someone else entered.

Her steps seemed to bring the wind with her. Every eye turned to look as she stepped in, a face pale as snow without blemish, purple eyes that stared into souls, a frame of a lady tempered for battle yet soft and beautiful.

Her purple hair swayed beautifully as she walked in. Dressed similar to Legolas, yet she looked like she shined.

Third daughter of the current head, Violet Julius, a member of the main family.

Legolas frowned when he saw her, "tch," he clicked his tongue. She walked close to him as she passed, she whispered.

"Don't ever try to shine when I'm around, you know it will never work," she said and walked off, not even glancing at the inner and outer members. Everyone rushed to clear space for her to walk.
