Ghost Wolf and his men turned toward the source of the roar.
Not far away stood a massive spotted leopard. On its broad back sat a beautiful little female.
Because of their position—and because their attention had been on Tribal Chief Tali—they hadn't noticed Sal earlier.
Now, seeing him clearly, their eyes widened in shock.
Th-that was the Boss!
But… who was the female on his back?
Their boss—letting a female ride on him?
They rubbed their eyes and looked again to make sure they weren't hallucinating.
They weren't.
He really was carrying her.
Heavens above—what kind of fearless female dared to sit on their boss's back? Was she not afraid of being torn apart?
They instinctively started toward Sal, but a single cold glance from him stopped them in their tracks.
For now, Sal had no intention of letting Nina know he was the leader of wandering beasts. He feared that if she found out, she might look down on him—or worse, drive him away.
He wasn't ready to tell her yet.
