Chapter 4 - Chapter 04 Purpose

Meanwhile, with Kato

Kato: "According to the list, my powers are related to the video games I played at the time. Apart from Castle Crashers, I would say that, considering the shape of this area, I should be able to access the skills from Skyrim."

When I finish speaking, I try to search within myself, and what I find are three hooded silhouettes with constellations instead of bodies.

Kato: "Although it looks somewhat different, the concept is a little clearer than in the original. These are clearly the paths of the Warrior, the Mage, and the Thief."

Once I see that, I try to see my magic, life, and stamina. But no matter how hard I look, there doesn't seem to be any. Returning to the silhouettes, I fix my gaze on the blue one, which clearly represents the path of the Mage.

Kato: "Considering that I have no real experience in combat, I would prefer to avoid hand-to-hand battles for the time being."

Kato: "The gray knight can fulfill the role of warrior, and between thief and mage, the latter offers me both a role as a ranged attacker and a healer, among other things. Basically, it's the role that would give me the most freedom."

After reflecting, I go and extend my hand to the Mage path. While I was expecting the different abilities to open up, I hear that distorted voice again.

ᏖᏂᏋ ᏕᏗፈᏒᎥᎦᎥፈᏋ ᎧᎦ ᎩᎧᏬᏒ ᏗፈᏖᎥᎧᏁᏕ ᏕᏂᏗᏝᏝ ᏁᎧᏖ ᏰᏋ ᎧᏉᏋᏒᏝᎧᎧᏦᏋᎴ. ᏰᏋᏂᎧᏝᎴ, ᏖᏂᏋ ᎶᏒᏗፈᏋ Ꭵ ᏂᏗᏉᏋ ᏰᏋᏕᏖᎧᏇᏋᎴ ᏬᎮᎧᏁ ᎩᎧᏬ.

Once the voice finishes delivering its message, different branches of understanding come to my mind: Destruction, Alteration, Restoration, and Illusion. They reveal themselves to me at the same time as they deliver their abilities, as if they were gifts.

When I return from that space, I notice a large rock in front of me that wasn't there before.

Kato: "I don't understand the reason for all this, but I'm not going to complain about it either." Out of sheer curiosity, I decide to head toward the rock. As I approach the rock, letters form in front of me.

Stone of the Mage King, an upgraded version of Stone of the Lord. Grants 70% magic resistance and 50% magic regeneration.

Because Mastery of the Alteration branch already gave 30% magic resistance, and Mastery of the Restoration branch gave 50% magic regeneration, the Stone of the Mage King allows Kato to reach 100% magic resistance and 100% magic regeneration.

Kato: "This is too much. I just gained immunity to magic along with what is basically double regeneration. Depending on the base regeneration, I may already be starting to be a little broken."

All of this begins to create a feeling of unease within me.

Kato: "Why has this been given to me? What distinguishes me from everyone else? I was just a young man who was discovering how to live as a man—a young man who was about to graduate with the sole ambition of reaching a point where I could begin to give to others instead of just receiving and receiving."

As I try to make sense of it all, tears of pure helplessness begin to gently roll down my cheeks.

Kato: "I don't know if it's because of the way my parents raised me, the things I lacked, if it's something natural about being a man, or if it's pure pride. But this time will be different. I have no intention of babysitting. But to everyone I can save or simply help, I promise here and now that I will try. I will not constantly go out of my way, but neither will I look away as I once did. Because I have received grace, so I shall travel and spread my grace."

With a clear goal for which to use my blessings, I set out to solve my knight's problem.

After a while, I met with the Gray Knight, who, in his particular way of communicating, which is more like intention, conveys his findings to me.

Kato: "As I feared, you need enemies."

I start thinking about solutions that don't expose us to too much danger. And in my brainstorming session, I remember something.

Kato: "Why does my benefactor leave a comment about one of my skills?"

'After thinking about it for a while, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to say that my friend has been guiding me down a particular path. Add to that the fact that by saying knights, he may have influenced my summons.'

Kato: "The fact that the gray knight was summoned in a form that could be considered harmless and that he only became a more formidable figure after swearing allegiance, I think that maybe, just maybe, he doesn't conjure allies per se, but characters from Castle Crasher. The gray knight was already a player-friendly character, but what about the others?"

Certain that I have discovered something, I ask the knight to accompany me to the dungeons of the fortress. Once there, I ask him to prepare his sword and shield while I form a circle of conjuration inside one of the individual cells.

Kato: "An enemy that does not pose much risk on its own"

I close my eyes to visualize better, and I begin to see a small figure covered in hair from head to toe. Only its eyes and mouth are clearly visible, and it is equipped with nothing more than an ordinary branch. Seeing it clearly in my mind, I cast the spell, and from the light of this spell emerged a figure measuring 120 cm, or two-thirds of my height…
