Chapter 49 - Chapter 4: Light and dark

13/4/999

Kakashi's perspective:

After checking into our rooms, we were even the day off. Knowing the circumstance of what happened, I had made decision stay in my room.

"Where do we go now?" I asked, in a murmured voice.

"Knock! Knock!"

As I laid in my bed, I heard a knock at my door. I stood and walked towards the door, looking through the small knob in the middle I was Max and Eigi standing there.

Do I just threw them outside or let them inside?

I opened the door for them to come inside. They looked shocked at the appearance of the room since I haven't begun designing.

"So! What did the two of want? Oh! Wait, can't you two in opposite groups?" I asked.

"No. In this exam you can choose to have partners for the building part of the exam but later we have resign." Eigi explained.

Thinking for a bit, Max answered. " And, on the contrary we thought od adding you in the team we were building. So what did you think?"

"Though, I'm not opposed to it. It will be a hassle explaining everything to my classmates, you know Princess Flora and all of them."

Eigi responded "Why don't you let us do the explaining."

"Are you sure you can pull that off Eigi." Max asked.

"I am confident." He said.

I know this exam will likely convey the use of intelligence and how to outsmart someone without them knowing. If that is the solution then Max and Arisu will be our most valuable assets. It is too bad that rial is not here but we can still manage without him.

But I wonder, between Rial and Max. Who is the smartest between them?

"Let's go to the lower floor and registrate our group."

Wondering a while I asked them. "Who else are apart of the group excluding us?"

"Eiichiro, and Rico. We only need these two to work." Replied Max.

We got out of elevator and started walking to the registration room. But on our way we met someone.

"Hello there. You must be the new students from the elite academy." The man said.

The man looked like person in his early eighteens only four years older us. While, only Eigi and I since, Max is technically fifteen years old.

"Yeah. Who are you?" Max in a bored tone.

"My name is Light Sasami. I am the son of the chief of nights, the man who met you at the gate." Light said.

On the outside, Light is an intelligence student who always without fail get first position in his exams. The files his father gave his says so.

"Oh! And while you are here. I should warm you about a man who kills people if they please them. It is also said that he has an artifact called the 'magic ball of death.' So, be careful, okay"

As he said this words, Eigi face's seems to have freeze at the exact same time. Max showed no expression, his face displayed no sign of fear, anger or torment. Since I already faced death before, Max and I had no emotion to show.

Since I saw my parents dead, the term 'death' doesn't hold me in a prison. Max also faced childhood abused in the 'Black Asylum ' which took his emotions.

"We got it, we will take your word but don't scare people like that." Max said.

"Okay."

Mock battles:

"Alphia and Alma get on the practice arena but before you go pick your weapon of choice."

This happened after a little argument between Alphia and Alma occurred. The school is still in the exams even after 2 months. They still haven't finished their tasks yet. Should, I go there to check if they need help?

Walking to the table, Alphia picked a long sword that looked very similar to mine. Picking up the sword, Alphia turned and smiled at me. Alma watched all the weapons laid out to her. Studying them for a bit she made her decision, she stretched out her hand and took the two short swords.

They were in a mock battle that decided who was stronger between the two. Looking at the both them; I already knew that in a fair one vs one Alphia would win but this mock battle only allows the use of weapons, combat abilities and flexibility.

They both stood on the arena, staring at each other. Though, this was just a thought, my natural instincts told me Alma was collecting natural energy from her surroundings.

Alphia rushed at Alma, sword in hand ready to strike. Moving backwards for a bit Alma readied herself for the impact coming. Aphia swung her sword directly towards the ribs of Alma. Alma using short sword used her left hand to block the attack which also had a short sword. With momentum on her side, Alphia turned her body upside down and did a backflip to evade what attack Alma had coming.

Alma held her swords closely, enhancing them with charkra, she sped sideways to Alphia trying to confuse her. Knowing this Alphia closed her eyes and activated a new kind of technique that seemed strangely familiar to astral art but many times different. She then opened her eyes and somehow started flying in the air. She flew past Alma with incredible speed. She could have end the fight there but she chose not to; properly because she liked fighting.

Alma had hand signs and spit out fire astral art at her, which changed as she continually filled it with charkra. With perfect synchronization the fire changed from the normal red and blue to a pure blue fire hotter than the outer sun. Alphia used her mana to create wind art which blocked the blue fire for a while but eventually got overpowered. Which blew her towards the trees, using lightning boost Alma sped to her ready to end the fight.

In a second, Alphia mood seemed to change. Her spirits turned to spirit eyes, her whole energy changed to that of a dangerous person. Suddenly, a spirit like bird appeared from Alphia body speed blitzing Alma in a flash.

"Huh!"

"Alphia calm down..." They said.

"Okay Alphia, you can have the victory!" Alma said.

In that moment I activated my dragon mark and teleported myself towards the spirit. Using my hands I blocked the spirit by holding it's beak and restraining it with the power produced by Garmish.

"Now, now then. Sleep." I sias, sweetly to with.

It seemed to have a connection with Gramish; since they both came from the bird family the only difference is one is a dragon while the other is an advance form of a dragon. Sensing the familiarity between us, the bird calmed down and fell asleep on the ground.

I slowly walked towards Alphia who has begun crying. Without talking to me, Aishia approached her and began speaking to her. I couldn't make it into words but I could guess that she saw saying. "You are not, the spirit was trying to flee itself didn't it."

"It tried many times but my friends also protected me... and now, I let it hurt of those closest to me!"

"Have hope, he has put it to sleep."

She walked in slow motion, she eventually made it to me and without reason I placed back the spirit inside her with the help of Alma and Aishia.

The elders were shocked to see the spirit appeared once again, but they had to ensure that hurt nobody; that was why they didn't respond to Alphia's call to help.

"Sir Rial. Can we speak after in the afternoon." Eric announced.

Thinking for a while I answered, "Alright."

Self reflection:

After the incident, I walked home alone, silence engulfing me to the absolute. Without even knowing it I was lost. I had fought every battle on my own without anyone's help I had fought my inner battle and won them 'or did I?

Life is a life book, the more you flip the more you also miss out. Maybe it is intended to happen but leaving it unread also jumps to your doom.

What is regret?

Men are difficult creatures that avoid things such as responsibilities and hard work. It is only in special circumstances that they allow themselves to be weak. The darkness in this world doesn't just hurt you, it destroys your heart which in turn hardens it. Trust is every difficult but that is the one thing men struggle with the most. Even for me, I trust myself absolutely; because I know I am the only one who knows me.

As said this, the beauty of the spirit village truly shone. The red leaves of an unknown tree started falling. The beautiful aroma of the leaves engulfed me and my surroundings. And, as I looked straight ahead. I saw two path ways, one filled with beautiful white flowers and the other filled with the red leaves which had begun falling.

Without even thinking, I walked the same path I had spent the last 9 years walking (after his parents died.)

Meanwhile the walk with the girls:

Aishia's perspective"

"Alphia look at me..." I said.

Without a second of hesitation she held her head firm, she looked so destroyed inside her own mind.

"Looks like you have endured this for years haven't you?"

"You don't understand! You have no idea how I destroyed many people's futures by just being here... My mother and father died the day that thing came out of me... I don't know what to do anymore..." Alphia screamed.

"So, that is what you are having; a moment of regret."

"Huh?" She asked.

"Many people live their lives bearing regret on their chests. They think they have time until eternity but in the end... their lives ended before they could fix it. Alphia I know have nothing to fix your painful past but all I can say is fix your problems before it is too late. You don'y have eternity on your side." I exclaimed to her.

As I looked, Alphia eyes were filled with tears. She cried heavily on my shoulders. In the end Alphia needed someone who she could release all the filled out emotions on. I filled that spot before anyone could, since she would be an important person in Rial's life.

But in the meantime, Rial also has to find his way. The darkness in his heart is still filled no one can release it. Except her.
