"Show me," the Error-Log challenged. He pointed toward a pile of "Standardized Scrap"—porcelain blocks the Overseers used to build their rigid structures.
Adriana threw the flickering knot. When it hit the blocks, the effect was instantaneous and terrifying. The blocks didn't break; they confused themselves. Half of a block tried to expand under the "Heat" while the other half tried to contract under the "Cold."
The molecular structure of the porcelain couldn't handle the contradiction. It shattered into a fine, grey powder—not because of physical force, but because its "Definition" had been destroyed.
"You have learned the Braid of Impossible Things," the Error-Log said, a flicker of something like pride crossing his shifting face. "But be warned, Weaver. If you hold a Paradox for too long, it will start to unweave you."
