Chapter 137 - Chapter 137 The second attack!

Time passed by second by second.

When the Governor returned to the perimeter of the Prison, it was already filled with Woodbury soldiers.

They either attracted Walkers themselves or directly captured them by tying them with thick ropes and chains, bringing over a dozen swaying Walkers.

The soldiers stood on both sides of the road, their Walkers constantly growling towards the middle of the road.

The Governor walked past the mouths of these Walkers, his gaze fixed forward, as if nothing in the world could make him feel fear.

"Are you all ready?"

The Governor roared.

The Governor was not met with affirmative responses from the crowd, but rather only the growls of the Walkers.

Compared to the residents of Woodbury, these Walkers resembled the Governor's soldiers more.

The Governor got into the car and, under everyone's gaze, dropped a sentence through the car window.

"Let's begin."

As soon as he finished speaking, Martinez, sitting in the driver's seat, immediately stepped on the accelerator and drove in the opposite direction of the Prison.

Seeing the Governor leave, everyone kicked the Walker in front of them to the ground, then pulled back their chains and got into their cars to leave.

It wasn't until they had driven a hundred meters away that the dozen or so Walkers rose with confused expressions, having lost their target.

The small group of Walkers began to sway, about to disperse.

But just then, an alarm clock sound suddenly came from behind them, drawing their attention back.

A small, empty car was slowly moving at a speed that Walkers could just keep up with.

And on the car's trunk, an alarm clock was securely tied with orange tape, its disc-like body trembling slightly, emitting crisp bell sounds that attracted their attention.

Hiss—

They elongated their sounds, emitting guttural noises that were enough to make one's skin crawl.

The moment the alarm sounded, they all turned their heads, changed their targets, and uniformly walked towards the small car.

In the distance behind them, several cars had turned back, and the Governor, holding binoculars, watched from afar.

Just as the small group of Walkers reached the middle of the hundred-meter flat ground, an abrupt gunshot suddenly rang out.

Bang—!

Someone fired a gun.

Looking in the direction where the gunshot echoed loudest, it was Merle.

The job of guarding the gate watchtower was given to Jim, and after Merle came out of the Administrative Building, he went straight to the watchtower at the side-rear of the Prison.

He pressed his face against the cold gunstock, shrugged slightly, adjusted his aiming posture, and murmured in a voice only he could hear.

"Only a dozen Walkers?"

"Please, aren't you underestimating me?"

The gunshots continued; the slow-moving Walkers were virtually stationary targets for Merle.

The Governor, witnessing all of this, maintained an unchanged expression, merely quietly observing through his binoculars.

The number of Walkers continued to decrease, but it was certain that there were no high-powered weapons under the ground they traversed.

Until the small car approached the outside of the Prison's side-rear fence, the last Walker was also taken down by Merle.

But at the same time, the Governor, who had been observing from afar, suddenly lowered his binoculars, his lips spreading into a grin.

"Go!"

Decisive! Swift!

The moment the command was given, all the soldiers belonging to Woodbury suddenly erupted!

They drove their various modified small cars, like jackals sniffing blood, rushing madly towards the Prison!

They arrived at the spot where the small group of Walkers had just passed, and following that line, they gave it full throttle and charged straight ahead!

The car that had just attracted the small group of Walkers was now nose-down, tail-up, resting steadily at an angle in the mud of the deep pit.

Splash—!

The first car, belonging directly to Martinez's soldiers!

They plunged fearlessly into the deep pit, directly stacking themselves on top of the first car.

Kicking the windshield out, they climbed from the front windshield position towards the opposite side of the deep pit.

Only when they stood on the inner side of the deep pit did the third small car come rushing with full throttle, also stacking on top of the first small car.

When three small cars were stacked together, they formed a path wide enough for a sedan to pass through.

At this point, the fourth car began to rumble!

Its rear had four exhaust holes, making a huge noise while constantly emitting black smoke from behind.

An American muscle car, charging with high horsepower, used the three cars below to bridge the deep pit and slammed directly into the Prison's rear fence.

Whoosh—!

Clatter—!

A tremendous crash sounded as the muscle car rolled over, crushing the fence along with the windbreak zone, and embedding itself into the outer wall of the Prison with a Walker impaled on it.

"The remaining soldiers, follow up!"

The Governor's voice rang out in every car, and the remaining Community residents immediately saw hope of taking the Prison.

Giving full throttle, they imitated the previous cars, crossing the deep pit and crashing into the outside of the Prison.

The Walkers in the windbreak zone began to approach, reaching their bodies through damaged car window gaps and biting the soldiers inside.

A card-sized piece of flesh, meat and sinew, was torn off, dripping with blood.

The screams, instead, ignited their hidden ferocity, causing them to attack all living things without restraint.

The Governor, escorted by Martinez, arrived at the outside of the deep pit.

He got out of the passenger seat, a rifle slung diagonally, and nimbly stepped onto the stacked car bodies, then lightly leaped onto the Prison's territory.

"Blow their heads off, chop off their limbs, every sacrifice is worth it!"

The Governor's eyes were bloodshot, and his eye sockets looked slightly red.

The rifle in his hand was used like a machine gun, the barrel braced at his waist, sweeping in a regular pattern.

Clearing the Walkers in the windbreak zone, he aimed the gun through a gap to shoot off the lock on the inside of the door, and the Governor pulled open a back door of the Prison.

Roar—!

But the moment the back door opened, the Governor's vision blurred, and a Walker lunged out from inside, pinning him to the ground.

He held the rifle horizontally, using all his strength to prop himself up with both hands.

"They're standing up! They're standing up!"

Before the Governor could shake off the Walker on top of him, he heard the soldiers' exclamations.

Why so fast?

This was the Governor's first thought.

Only being bitten on a body part, although it would lead to transformation into a Walker, a person should at least be able to hold on for a while longer, and couldn't possibly die so quickly, could they?

The thought was fleeting, as the Governor saw several more Walkers surge out of the narrow passage of the Prison's back door.

Between the Walkers, what also emerged was that long, sharp arrow.

The arrow once again pierced a soldier's chest and heart, and not long after the soldier fell, he stood up again.

"It's the people from the Prison!"

The Governor saw a man, wearing a jacket, covered in some Walker guts and blood, mingling among the Walkers and attacking them.

Daryl and Crossbow (battle-damaged)

By the time the Governor reacted, the man had retreated back inside.

"Retreat! Retreat!"
