Chapter 69
After Crocus began examining and diagnosing Olga, Victor knew there was nothing left for him to do.
He stepped aside and took out a portion of the Pure Gold.
Then he swallowed it in one gulp, waited a moment, and spat it back out.
"Not bad, not bad—this is exactly the effect I wanted. I really am a genius, hahaha."
Victor looked at the newly synthesized Pure Gold in front of him and couldn't help laughing happily.
Through the Glutton-Glutton Fruit's ability, the new Pure Gold he had synthesized allowed him to fully understand its functions.
"Hey, Victor—there's a pregnant woman and a patient here. What are you laughing about over there?"
Crocus heard Victor's laughter and immediately called out to him.
"Of course I have to laugh—this is a gift I'm giving you two."
Victor said with a smile.
"What gift?"
Crocus looked at Victor and asked.
Victor used alloy to completely wrap a small piece of Pure Gold so it couldn't be seen or detected as Pure Gold, then shaped it into a necklace pendant.
"Here—two pendants for you. Inside the pendants is Pure Gold. And it's newly synthesized using my Glutton-Glutton Fruit ability."
"No side effects at all. Of course, if your wife has concerns, just wait until she gives birth and recovers her strength before wearing it."
With that, Victor handed the two necklace pendants to Crocus.
"Pure Gold? Captain, are you sure? This is the stuff of legends."
Crocus took the necklace and said in surprise.
"It can't be more real. Otherwise, why do you think I spent the last half year searching?"
"You can ask the two people right in front of you. Dr. Asai is its inventor and creator, and his daughter is the beneficiary."
Victor said with a smile.
So Crocus looked toward Dr. Asai. When he saw him nod, he knew it was true.
"This gift is too valuable—thank you, Captain."
Crocus glanced at his wife but still chose to accept it.
"Alright—hurry and treat Olga. I still need to go find Captain Roger later."
Victor urged Crocus to move faster.
"Hmm—I've already finished the checkup. Treatment can start right away."
Crocus said there was no problem.
Soon, under Crocus's treatment, Olga's condition was completely cleared in just a few days—though she still needed rest and recovery.
During these days, Victor made quite a few Pure Gold necklaces—he had plenty for himself, of course.
Not only that—he also went to catch up with Dr. Dorié.
Finally, he bought out every street's worth of food.
On the last day, Dr. Asai—seeing Olga fully recovered—finally passed the Pure Gold alchemy technique to Victor.
The father and daughter planned to stay in the Drum Kingdom for a while to recuperate and rest.
So Victor bid farewell to Crocus and the others, then quickly left.
South Blue – Baterilla Island.
Roger was currently gently stroking Portgas D. Rouge's swollen belly with a face full of tenderness.
"I bet it's a boy. Hahaha."
Roger said with a laugh.
"Can't it be a girl? If it's a girl, would you like her?"
Portgas D. Rouge said coquettishly.
"Of course I'd like her. Boy or girl—I like them both."
Roger quickly replied.
"Hey hey hey—you two are enough already. I'm not even married yet, and I'm already getting force-fed dog food."
Victor's voice suddenly rang in their ears.
This immediately startled them, but Roger reacted quickly.
"Who—who?"
Rouge panicked and turned around.
"Rouge—don't be afraid. It's Victor, my partner."
Roger first comforted Rouge.
"Sister-in-law—hello. First meeting—here's a necklace for you."
"Captain Roger—go put it on her."
Victor said without any politeness, handing the necklace directly to Roger so he could put it on Rouge.
"Victor—I've heard Roger talk about you. Thank you for the necklace."
After relaxing, Rouge became very warm and friendly.
"Haha—let me put it on for you."
Roger happily put the necklace on Rouge.
"Haha—you're my sister-in-law—no need to be so polite."
Victor said with a smile.
"Alright then—you two talk. I'll go prepare dinner first."
Rouge was very virtuous and went home first, knowing the two men definitely had things to discuss.
So Roger brought Victor to the seaside.
"How the hell did you find this place?"
Roger said irritably.
"You forgot about my ability? Finding you isn't hard at all."
Victor wasn't intimidated by Roger in the slightest.
"Fine then—what did you come to find me for?"
Roger was also very curious why Victor had come here.
"Captain Roger—this is a Pure Gold necklace. It can extend your life indefinitely."
"Do you want it?"
Victor took out another necklace and looked at Roger.
Roger didn't take it—he just looked at the necklace in silence.
"Victor kid—thank you. My life has already been brilliant enough. My fate is in my own hands—not this necklace."
"I don't need this thing. I just can't let go of Rouge and the child in her belly."
As expected, Roger refused the Pure Gold.
"You've really decided?"
Victor asked softly.
"Yes—I've decided. This is my mission."
Roger nodded and said.
"Since that's the case—I won't try to persuade you anymore."
"Sister-in-law—I'll take care of her from now on."
Victor wasn't surprised—he had only wanted to try.
As for Rouge and Ace—with him around, there shouldn't be any problems.
"Victor kid—then I owe you another big thank you. Hahaha."
Roger received Victor's promise and laughed happily.
With Victor there, no one could harm Rouge.
Originally he had planned to ask Garp to take care of Rouge—he just hadn't expected Victor to come first.
But this was also a good thing.
"There's still time. Wait until your child is born before you leave."
Victor said softly.
"Hmm—I was thinking the same. No matter what, I want to see my child first before I go."
"With you here, I'm completely at ease. Hahaha."
Roger was extremely glad at this moment to have such a good partner as Victor.
For the next six months, Victor stayed behind.
While Roger took care of Rouge, he also sparred with Victor from time to time.
This kind of life made Rouge feel incredibly happy—she fantasized about being able to live like this forever.
Until the birth of Roger's son—Ace.
"Hahaha—I have a son! This is my son!"
Roger looked at the little baby in his hands and laughed happily.
"Hmm—a boy. He'll have a bright future ahead."
Victor looked at Ace and said with a smile.
In the hospital room, Rouge lay weakly on the bed, happily looking at Roger and the child in his arms.
Victor saw this and used the Glutton-Glutton Fruit ability to help restore Rouge's body a little.
"Victor kid—thank you."
Roger looked at Victor gratefully.
Victor had already done more than enough for him—he was deeply thankful.
If it had only been Roger himself, he wouldn't have known how to handle everything.
