Chapter 8 - Chapter Eight

"That apartment!" Lin Hai laughed, saying, "Yang Ying doesn't have any good listings, that one is the only one that seems attractive on the surface. Here's what you do: when the client comes downstairs, give him our agency's business card and see if you can get him to come to our agency to choose an apartment."

"Brother Hai, I understand," Chen Zhongping immediately replied.

After hanging up, he waited downstairs.

A short while later, Zhang Yu, the girl with glasses, and Zhao Guangjian emerged from the building entrance.

Zhang Yu and the girl with glasses both recognized Chen Zhongping, and seeing him standing there, they were both a little puzzled.

Chen Zhongping smiled slightly and walked directly towards Zhao Guangjian. Reaching Zhao Guangjian, he politely said, "Hello, sir, are you looking at apartments? I'm a real estate agent from Anmei Agency. This is my business card."

He then took out a business card and respectfully presented it to Zhao Guangjian with both hands.

No wonder he's a top-notch salesperson; his professionalism is truly exceptional.

However, such blatant customer poaching is a major taboo in the industry; it's usually done covertly. This is clearly asking for trouble. It also shows that he doesn't take Jiabao Real Estate Agency seriously at all; he's openly bullying you.

"Hello," Zhao Guangjian took the business card from Chen Zhongping, glanced at it, and asked, "Where is your agency located?"

"Right across from Jiabao Real Estate Agency. We have far more listings there, including many good ones. We guarantee you'll find a house that suits your needs. That apartment upstairs is really cursed; it doesn't even ventilate when the windows are open. Don't be tempted by the low price. Many clients have regretted their decisions after paying deposits, losing both time and money." Chen Zhongping was indeed very articulate.

"I know, thank you for reminding me," Zhao Guangjian said, putting the business card in his pocket.

"Sir, may I ask your surname? Do you have time to come and take a look at our agency now?" Chen Zhongping said with a smile.

"I'm afraid I don't have time today. How about this, we'll talk on the phone tomorrow," Zhao Guangjian said.

"Okay, okay…then we'll talk tomorrow…I won't bother you any longer, I'll be going now…" Chen Zhongping was very tactful. He nodded and bowed as he finished speaking, giving Su Hong and Zhang Yu a smug look before turning and leaving.

Zhao Guangjian didn't say anything more. Although he held onto a sliver of hope, he knew the chances of the apartment being ventilated within half an hour were very low.

Other real estate agents knew about the apartment's problems; it seemed the apartment was indeed bad, and it wasn't a secret anymore.

He got into the car and sat down. The girl with glasses was too embarrassed to get in and stood obediently outside.

Zhang Yu took the keys from the girl with glasses, saying he was going to buy a pack of cigarettes and would go straight to a supermarket not far away. Zhang Yu smoked, but he was a light smoker; he didn't mind smoking or not. He bought a small mirror and a pack of cheap cigarettes for 6 yuan at the supermarket, then headed straight for building number eight.

Taking the elevator to the 20th floor and entering room 2006, Zhang Yu quickly went to the window. He knew the situation was urgent; if he didn't resolve the issue immediately, he feared he would lose this client.

Zhang Yu bit his finger until it bled and began drawing on the back of the mirror. He was drawing a talisman to dispel evil influences; the solar halo affliction wasn't particularly powerful among evil energies and was easily countered.

Normally, talismans are drawn using cinnabar and talisman paper—that's standard talisman-making technique. However, he had neither cinnabar nor, even if he did, the talisman he drew wouldn't work.

The reason was this: talisman-making technique requires both the talisman and the talisman itself. Talisman paper was easy to buy, but the talisman itself was not; it had to be granted by a Taoist temple. Old Wang, who taught Zhang Yu these things, didn't have the authority to grant talisman-making privileges, so Zhang Yu only knew how to draw the talisman. However, it wasn't impossible to use it—by using blood instead of the talisman, and then combining it with his internal energy to activate the talisman's power.

He had practiced with Old Wang for many years, and although his internal energy was still weak, it was enough for drawing talismans.

Soon, the talisman for breaking the evil was finished. He raised the mirror, pointed it towards the sun, and shouted, "Break!"

As soon as the sound faded, the mirror flashed with light, then cracked with a "crack." A perfectly round mirror shattered in Zhang Yu's hand, shards of glass scattering all over the floor. Zhang Yu was shocked; he never expected such a thing to happen.

But then, a gentle breeze blew in from the window, instantly making the room much cooler. Even the sunlight became normal, warm and gentle, no longer as harsh as before.

"I succeeded!" Zhang Yu almost shouted excitedly.

His fists clenched tightly; he could no longer feel the pain in his fingers.

After about five minutes, with the breeze, the temperature in the room gradually dropped, no longer as stuffy as before, and the dizziness disappeared.

This was his first time properly using talismanic magic to dispel evil, and he hadn't expected it to actually succeed. He felt a little tired, but the joy in his heart was enough to make him ignore it.

Zhang Yu lit a cigarette, rested for a while, and then went downstairs to see Zhao Guangjian.

Reaching the car, Zhang Yu gently knocked on the window. Zhao Guangjian opened the door and said, "Is it working now?"

"It should be fine. Let's go upstairs and take a look," Zhang Yu said with a smile.

The three of them went upstairs together. Zhang Yu had just locked the door to room 2006. He opened the door again and went in first. Zhao Guangjian followed, and the girl with glasses walked last. The two of them had been a little nervous; the dizziness they had just experienced had made them want to vomit.

But now, once inside, the stuffiness and dizziness were completely gone.

"Huh?" the girl with glasses exclaimed in surprise, wandering around. The breeze blowing in from the window was much more refreshing than when they were standing downstairs.

She was incredibly puzzled. Last time she came, she almost fainted on the spot. This apartment was rumored to be incredibly strange, so how could the previous feeling have vanished so quickly?

Although she wasn't particularly bright, she wasn't stupid. Zhang Yu had just gone upstairs with the keys, and now the apartment had undergone a complete transformation. She was certain Zhang Yu had tampered with it. How did he manage that? She couldn't imagine.

Zhao Guangjian enjoyed the cleanliness of the apartment, examining each room. The layout was indeed excellent; buying it at this price was an absolute steal.

"I'll take this apartment!" Zhao Guangjian said directly.

"Really?" The girl with glasses was overjoyed.

"Of course!" Zhao Guangjian said with a smile.

But then he paused, saying, "Not yet. I need my wife to come over. Such a big decision can't be made by me alone."
