Once again, dawn had returned to Wisteria, and though the sun was yet to rise, Damaris had, and with hurried steps, she ran through the forest.
Barely breathing as she ran, all she could think of was getting to the cottage as soon as possible and the moment she reached his door, her hand slammed on the door repeatedly.
"Zuri!" she shouted out his name as she banged even harder on the door.
"Zuri! It is I Damaris, open up!"
She heard a groan from within, followed by the sound of the door being unlocked from the inside.
Slowly, the door opened and a familiar red-haired man stood shirtless by the doorway.
"You need not announce it is you," his grumbling morning voice flowed into the air. Lazily, he pushed back strands of disheveled hair over his head. "for I know it could ever only be you who would bang on a man's door at this hour."
"Oh, hush now. I came to call you as soon as I heard!" She managed to chuckle through heavy panting.
