Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: The Dragon Princess and the Silver Paradox

The atmosphere didn't just change when Milim Nava arrived; it shattered. One moment, the marsh was silent with the aftermath of war; the next, a sonic boom rippled through the air, flattening the tall grass for miles. A pink-haired girl, deceptively small and wearing little more than black gothic armor, floated in the sky. To the untrained eye, she looked like a child. To Kaito's Ultimate Skill: Mnemosyne, she was a walking sun—a core of infinite, chaotic magicules that made even Veldora's presence feel like a summer breeze.

Kaito's body pulsed a sharp, warning silver. He stepped in front of Rimuru, his form becoming denser, his metallic skin reflecting the pink glow radiating from the girl above.

"Kaito, what is that?" Rimuru whispered, his hand going to his sword. "The magicules… they're hurting just to look at."

"Don't draw your blade," Kaito cautioned, his voice low and vibrating with tension. "That is Milim Nava. One of the oldest and strongest Demon Lords in existence. If she sneezes, this forest becomes a crater."

Milim descended, her feet touching the damp earth with zero impact, as if gravity were merely a suggestion she chose to ignore. She tilted her head, her bright eyes scanning them with predatory curiosity. Then, she pointed a finger directly at Kaito.

"You!" she chirped, her voice surprisingly sweet. "You aren't a slime, and you aren't an Ogre. You're shiny! You smell like that old lizard Veldora, but you're made of spirit particles and magisteel. Are you a new toy?"

Kaito bowed, every movement calculated to show respect without submission. "I am Kaito Tempest, the Fourth Primordial Echo. And this is my brother, Rimuru. We are the leaders of this forest. To what do we owe the honor of the Destroyer's visit?"

Milim puffed out her chest, looking pleased. "So you know who I am! Good! I heard a bunch of weaklings were making a fuss about an Orc Lord, so I came to see who won. But I didn't expect to find a shiny spirit and a slime with a True Dragon's name!"

She suddenly blurred. Kaito's Thought Accelerator kicked into overdrive, but even at a thousand times speed, she was a streak of pink. She appeared inches from Kaito's face, sniffing the air.

"You're strong," she mused, her eyes narrowing. "Not 'Me' strong, but 'Demon Lord' strong. Want to fight? If you win, I'll leave! If I win, I get to keep you as a pet!"

'Kaito, don't!' Rimuru shouted mentally. 'She'll kill you!'

Kaito looked into Milim's eyes. He saw the loneliness hidden beneath the bravado—the same loneliness he had seen in Veldora. "A fight would be counterproductive, Lady Milim. Even if I used every skill in my Archive, I could only hope to annoy you. And if we fight, my brother's town will be destroyed. I have a better proposal."

Milim crossed her arms, pouting. "Boring! Proposals are for old men like Clayman. I want excitement!"

"How about a taste of something you've never had in all your thousands of years?" Kaito asked. He reached into his internal storage, pulling out a jar of honey—a rare delicacy he had archived and replicated after finding a hive of Great Apis bees in the deep forest.

He opened the jar. The golden, viscous liquid caught the light, and the scent—sweet, floral, and intoxicating—filled the air. Milim's nose twitched.

"What is… that?"

"Honey," Kaito said, offering it to her. "It's the concentrated essence of the forest's sweetness. Go ahead. It's a gift."

Milim dipped a finger into the jar, licked it, and froze. Her eyes widened. Her wings fluttered frantically.

"DELICIOUS!" she screamed, her aura exploding upward in a pillar of pink light. "WHAT IS THIS SORCERY?! I WANT MORE! I WANT ALL OF IT!"

Rimuru sighed with relief, his shoulders slumping. 'Honey? Seriously? The world's strongest Demon Lord was defeated by a jar of bee spit?'

"She's a child of nature, Rimuru," Kaito whispered. "Complexity confuses her. Purity delights her."

For the next hour, Milim was a whirlwind of energy. She declared Rimuru and Kaito her "Besties" and insisted on seeing the town. As they walked, Kaito's Mnemosyne was silently working in the background.

[Notice: Continuous analysis of 'Milim Nava' complete. Archiving unique energy signature: 'Drago-Nova'. Warning: Replication is currently impossible due to insufficient energy capacity. However, a 'Passive Counter-Measure' has been developed.]

Kaito realized that having Milim around was like keeping a live nuclear warhead in the living room. He needed to keep her occupied.

"Lady Milim," Kaito said as they reached the town square, where the Hobgoblins were staring in terror. "Since we are besties, would you like to help us? We're building a world where everyone can be happy. With your strength, we could protect this place forever."

Milim grinned, throwing an arm around Kaito's silver neck and the other around Rimuru's slime form. "Of course! Anyone who messes with my besties gets a Drago-Buster to the face!"

While Rimuru took Milim to show her the local cuisine (and more honey), Kaito stayed behind with Benimaru and Rigurd. His expression was serious.

"Listen to me," Kaito told them. "Milim is our guest, but she is also a test. The other Demon Lords will see her presence here as a threat or a provocation. Clayman, Frey, Carrion… they will all be looking at Tempest now. We need to accelerate our defenses."

"What do you suggest, Lord Kaito?" Benimaru asked.

"I'm going to create the 'Silver Aegis'," Kaito said. "I've archived the defensive barriers of Dwargon and the Holy Empire of Lubelius. I'm going to wrap the entire city in a multilayered spirit-shield. But to do it, I'll need to go into a deep-processing state."

[Notice: Initializing 'World Map Sync'. Commencing construction of 'Grand Spirit Barrier: Tempest'.]

Kaito sat in the center of the town, his body dissolving into a pillar of shimmering silver light that shot high into the sky, spreading out like an umbrella of liquid diamonds. The town was now protected, but Kaito was vulnerable. He had linked his consciousness to the very land.

As the silver light settled into an invisible dome, a new message flashed in his mind—one that didn't come from Mnemosyne, but from the Voice of the World itself.

[Notice: Interaction with 'True Demon Lord' Milim Nava and the naming of the Jura Alliance has reached a critical threshold.

The 'Harvest Festival' of the forest has begun. Individual 'Kaito Tempest' and Individual 'Rimuru Tempest' are now candidates for Demon Lord Ascension.]

Kaito, even in his meditative state, felt a chill. The real game was just beginning.
