Chapter 105 - CHAPTER 105: TOO PERFECT.

The restaurant doors opened—

and the outside air felt sharper, like reality had been waiting with folded arms.

Ha-Joon stepped out first, calm as ever.

Beside him—

Min-Ji, glowing like the date had gone exactly how she wanted.

And maybe—

it had.

Just a few steps ahead—

two very familiar figures stood like they had been strategically placed there.

Seo-Jun leaned casually against the wall.

Next to him—

Min-Hyuk, arms crossed, expression already halfway to judgment.

Ha-Joon stopped.

Brows slightly raised.

"You two."

Seo-Jun smiled.

"Us."

Min-Hyuk nodded once.

"Yes. We exist."

Min-Ji looked between them politely.

"Hello."

Seo-Jun dipped his head just slightly.

"Future chaos."

Min-Hyuk added dryly—

"Potential problem."

Min-Ji blinked.

"…Excuse me?"

Seo-Jun cleared his throat immediately.

"Pleasure to meet you."

A small silence.

Then—

Ha-Joon glanced between them.

"Where are you going?"

Min-Hyuk answered.

"Work."

Seo-Jun added—

"Surveillance."

Min-Hyuk side-eyed him.

"…We're not calling it that."

Min-Ji suddenly spoke, gentle and composed.

"Actually… I think I'll head home."

All eyes shifted to her.

"I need to inform my parents," she continued smoothly, "that they should come tomorrow."

Tomorrow.

That word sat there.

Heavy.

Important.

Ha-Joon nodded.

"Alright."

No hesitation.

No question.

That alone made Min-Hyuk's jaw tighten just a little.

They watched her leave.

Step by step.

Graceful.

Perfect.

Untouchable.

Until—

she disappeared.

Silence.

One second.

Two—

Then—

Seo-Jun straightened.

Min-Hyuk uncrossed his arms.

And both of them turned to Ha-Joon at the exact same time.

"…No."

Min-Hyuk said it first.

Flat.

Immediate.

Final.

Seo-Jun pointed vaguely in the direction Min-Ji left.

"That—" he paused, searching for the right word, "—is not a person, that is a perfectly crafted presentation slide."

Ha-Joon exhaled slowly.

"…We're not doing this."

"Oh we are," Seo-Jun said instantly.

Min-Hyuk nodded.

"We absolutely are."

Min-Hyuk stepped closer.

Calm.

Controlled.

Dangerously honest.

"I don't like her."

No sugar.

No filter.

Just truth.

Seo-Jun followed up—

"I don't trust her."

Then added, almost thoughtfully—

"She smiles like she knows the ending of a movie no one else has watched."

Ha-Joon's gaze hardened slightly.

"You met her for five minutes."

Min-Hyuk shrugged.

"That was enough."

Seo-Jun folded his arms.

"Also—she's too perfect."

Ha-Joon looked at him.

"That's your issue?"

"Yes."

"Explain."

Seo-Jun leaned in slightly.

"People are not that balanced. That calm. That… curated."

He tilted his head.

"It's unnatural."

Min-Hyuk added—

"And she didn't react properly."

Ha-Joon frowned.

"To what?"

"To us," Min-Hyuk said simply.

A beat.

"If someone meets us for the first time, they're either uncomfortable, amused, or confused."

A pause.

"She was none of those."

Seo-Jun nodded.

"She adapted too quickly."

Ha-Joon ran a hand through his hair.

"You're overthinking."

Min-Hyuk shook his head.

"You're underthinking."

A quiet moment.

Then—

Min-Hyuk spoke again, softer this time.

"I always thought…"

He hesitated.

Rare.

"…never mind."

Ha-Joon's eyes narrowed slightly.

"Say it."

Min-Hyuk exhaled.

"I always thought you'd end up with someone… real."

A pause.

Then—

"Someone like Ji-Ah."

Silence.

Seo-Jun winced slightly.

"…He said it."

Min-Hyuk didn't back down.

"I did."

Ha-Joon's expression didn't change.

But something in his eyes flickered.

Just for a second.

Gone just as fast.

Seo-Jun clapped his hands once, breaking the tension.

"Anyway! Moving on before emotions happen—"

He turned to Ha-Joon.

"We made a mistake."

Clear.

Direct.

No jokes this time.

Min-Hyuk nodded.

"…Fix it."

Ha-Joon looked between them.

Unmoved.

Unreadable.

"…There's nothing to fix."

Seo-Jun sighed dramatically.

"Oh, there is."

He gestured toward the direction Min-Ji left.

"And it just walked away looking very elegant."

Min-Hyuk added under his breath—

"…And very suspicious."

Ha-Joon didn't respond.

Didn't argue.

Didn't agree.

He just turned—

and started walking.

Behind him—

Seo-Jun leaned closer to Min-Hyuk.

"…He's in denial."

Min-Hyuk nodded.

"Deep."

They both followed after him anyway.

Because no matter how bad this looked—

they weren't letting him walk into it alone

The room shimmered with polished glass and quiet fury.

A vanity mirror framed in gold.

Lights glowing softly.

And in front of it—

Yoo-Na.

Staring at her reflection like it had personally betrayed her.

"This is ridiculous."

She adjusted her earrings.

Too sharp.

Too fast.

"They're getting married? Just like that?" she snapped, pacing a little. "Some girl appears out of nowhere and suddenly she's perfect enough for the Kim family?"

Her reflection didn't answer.

Which made her angrier.

"This is my place," she continued, voice tightening. "That house—those people—him—"

Her jaw clenched.

"—was never supposed to be hers."

"Calm down."

The voice came smooth.

Measured.

Like pouring cold water on fire.

Yoo-Na froze.

Then turned sharply.

"Stop telling me to calm down, Mom."

On the bed—

Mrs. Han sat with perfect posture.

Hands crossed.

Expression unreadable, but her eyes?

Calculating.

Always calculating.

"She betrayed us," Mrs. Han said calmly. "Madam Kim knew exactly what she was doing."

Her gaze sharpened slightly.

"She gave her son to someone else. After everything that was discussed."

Yoo-Na let out a frustrated laugh.

"It's all Ji-Ah's fault."

The name came out like something bitter.

"She brought that girl in. If she hadn't—none of this would've happened."

She turned back to the mirror, shaking her head.

"Ha-Joon said he wouldn't marry me."

A pause.

Her voice dropped.

"Or anyone."

Another pause.

"…But he agreed to her."

Her reflection stared back.

Mocking.

"They even went on a date."

Silence lingered.

Then—

a small sound.

A soft, knowing breath.

Mrs. Han smiled.

Not warm.

Not kind.

Just—

certain.

"Don't worry, sweetheart."

Yoo-Na looked at her.

And something in that smile made the room feel colder.

"I'll handle everything."

She stood slowly.

Elegant.

Danger wrapped in silk.

"We'll remind Madam Kim that choices have consequences."

Her voice was calm.

Too calm.

"We'll ruin her reputation if we have to."

A small pause.

Her eyes flicked toward the window.

"The Kim name may be strong… but it isn't untouchable."

Yoo-Na's anger softened—

just a little.

Replaced by something else.

Something sharper.

"What about Min-Ji?"

Mrs. Han's smile deepened slightly.

"That girl?"

A quiet chuckle.

"She's just a piece on the board."

Yoo-Na stepped closer.

Lowering her voice.

"…Then let's remove her."

Mrs. Han tilted her head.

"Careful."

But she didn't disagree.

Yoo-Na's lips curved faintly.

Controlled.

Cold.

"Let's deal with her."

A pause.

Then softer—

almost thoughtful—

"…and her 'parents' too."

Mrs. Han's eyes flickered.

Interest.

Now that—

was something worth watching.

The room fell quiet again.

But it wasn't peaceful.

It was the kind of quiet that comes right before something breaks.
